Excellent food and service. You know the kind where you drop a fork and they replace it without having to ask for it. You can also go there just for a glass of wine as the expression "Bistro" mean in French: a restaurant where you can order glass of wine. Food excellent too 🙂

Classic French cuisine with standard fare such as mussels, steak/frites, fish & chips, etc. Good service, wine by the glass options. Sauce on steak was standard brown on nicely done steak. Tasty fries. Generous fish & chips. Perhaps a touch over priced, but seems to be in line with today's prices https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g155032-r364248465-Montreal_Quebec.html#

Visited this restaurant for a romantic dinner and was very surprised at how great the food was. We ordered the seafood platter and it was very fresh. Service at this restaurant was outstanding ! The staff took very good care of us. Would definitely recommend !

We did not plan this outing, just ended up here, waiting for our movie time, and we were very pleased by the quality of service, atmosphere, and especially the food, we practically licked our plates (discretely...) and had a great time. Service was great because we felt they were really listening to us, not always the case when there's a... More

I felt like i was in France but with a better service. The food is amazing and the "bistro" ambiance bring something special to this place. Amazing food, with great wine variety and perfect service with smile, that's a perfect note to me. If you are on a budget, steak and fries, it's a sure shot.

This little Bistro is well situated in the Rosemount district of Montreal, facing a park and near a popular French cinema. It is always a good idea to reserve since the places are limited. The service is friendly and helpful and prompt. This put me immediately in a good mood. The food choices are varied for a small place. They... More

I've been to the Detour at least 20 times over the last 20 years, and I've never been disappointed, even during the 7 years when owner Jean-François was overseas catering for Cirque du Soleil cast and crew. Montreal has several good bistros (l'Express, Café Cherrier, etc.). If you happen to be in the Rosemont-Petite Patrie area, you must try this... More

I enjoyed a reasonably priced lunch in this warm bistro on a cold day. The soup to start was flavourful and the main courses were well-proportioned. There were enough choices that everyone in my family was happy. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The park across the street and children's park adjacent made for a pleasant detour after our lunch.

Staying in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Neighbourhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
