Again at Ferrari for lunch: 4 business people who ate: Veal, manicotti, lasagna and pot au feu. Italian cuisine, family style. Daily, there are offerings such as "half & half" with soup or salad. Coffee is absolutely a must for those who enjoy Italian coffee. Deserts are marvelous Does not pretend to be a big place. Don't be stopped by... More

You have to try the homemade pasta! Good food, not expensive, good service. The veal is excellent but the portion is small.

Ferrari is a small casual restaurant just off the beaten path with outstanding food. As an appetizer, they serve their pizza dough rolled very thin, baked with olive oil and rosemary. It is sliced and served with their house olive oil and balsamic for a tasty snack. We had the lasagna which was served in a cast iron pan and... More

It is hard to find a basic Italian place downtown - tons of bars, great cheap Chinese, pizza and sub stands, some standout $$$ places - but a simple inexpensive resto? Ferrari is OK but that's about it. The thin, dinner -plate sized pizzas are very good; the appetizers are basic and don't show any particular inclination toward something special... More

I ordered the garlic chicken with a side of pesto pasta. The pesto pasta had very little flavour and was lacking the basil entirely. The garlic chicken had an OK taste but the meat had a very fatty texture. They were out of smoked salmon so 3 of their main dishes were not order able. They also said they did... More

We had dinner at Ferrari on Saturday night. We sat on the patio and showed up late. The owner was very helpful in providing recommendations and the food was good. Both my fiancé and I had pasta and we left full and happy.

The downtown area of Montreal is packed with tourists and over-priced low quality restaurants. Generally, we try to avoid going out in this area; but when we must, we head to Ferrari for very good Italian in a cozy location. The appetizers are wonderful—and a good deal; the pasta dishes are excellent, displaying some true Italian character (I feel comfortable... More

There is a charming courtyard out back. Try to get a table there, if possible. We dined outside on the street, shaded by umbrellas, with little traffic. We really enjoyed the experience. We were three friends (in their 50's), out for a late lunch. This cafe is charming. The food is fresh and very good, and the service was excellent.... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
