You can't eat the ambience- which is probably a good thing since this restaurant really has no bragging rights in terms of decor. A few gallons of paint, a tapestry on the wall and a few copper lamps with candles might go a long way in upgrading this restaurant's interior. Also, how about some light north African music? The outdoor terrace is cute but how about some begonias? This restaurant needs a woman's touch. And yet, I went twice during my three week stay in Montreal. BYOB- need I say more? Copious servings and tasty food- lots of vegetables with the main course. This restaurant is great value for the money. I'm looking forward to my next dinner there.

I have never written a negative review before, but this time I feel it is my duty to warn others. The owner treated us like we were intruders in his empty restaurant. Between the three of us we ordered three appetizers and three main meals. This was because the owner prohibited us from sharing, even though this would be too much food. When we asked to take home the leftovers, he told us he did not have any way to provide us with containers. He said we could go across the street and by Tupperware. The food was bland. Do not go there. With so many restaurants in Montreal, this one is a waste of time and money

Rude owner/server, set the table by almost throwing plates on table, expressed comments which are not funny but rude.
Should you still go, decline the set menu server suggests or else be surprised with a very expensive meal. So it’s good to check the menu and price first.

We visited several wonderful restaurants on our visit to Montreal but this was our favorite. Great food, warm atmosphere, and friendly proprietor. We'll be back

The meal was ok, basically a couscous with vegetables and lamb meat, but 27,5 dollars with tax and tip for one plate is way too much expensive. While waiting 45 minutes for our plate, the owner didn't smile that much and is clearly only here only for providing the minimum the service.
Much better deals to find around, avoid this restaurant !

Delicious food in a quiet corner of the Plateau. Lamb falls off the bone and the Lobster Bisque in season is like eating the ocean. Fried Sardines are a guilty pleasure and the cumin chick pea salad is sublime; the host/chef/owner is just the kind of enlightened gourmand every neighborhood needs.

Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
