Trip Advisor has a really odd rating system. 3 = Average and 4= Very Good. In my world, Good is better than Average and I would say Chez Boulay is Good but not Very Good, so I went with 3. We made reservations and were seated promptly. The décor is somewhat modern and reminded me of a nightclub rather than... More

Went to this restaurant with a Nordic twist on our first night in Quebec. Very central restaurant but away from tourist hotspots and better for it. Very good creative dishes of high quality and the best Canadian wine list I came across in Quebec or Montreal. Portions were generous and my wife and I had starters and main courses but... More

We had many enjoyable Quebec dining experiences during our recent visit...but this was our highlight! I can't fully describe the creative awesomeness of the beet tatin appetizer ....just order it and savor it!! And the sauces of both the beef cheek dinner and the chicken dinner were delicious....not a morsel of meat or veggie was left on our plates. Make... More

Attended this restaurant with a group of colleagues. We had a great meal with various options. The cheese and charcuterie board were excellent ! The portions were generous but not compromising quality! Truly a gem!

We found this restaurant in a guidebook as we were sitting at the airport for our flight to Canada. It was wonderful. The cuisine is described as Nordic/Boreal and it was unlike most of restaurants I have been to. I had goose and duck parmentier and it was memorable. I would suggest reservations and not missing this if you're in... More

We ate here on our last night in Quebec and it was the best meal we had here. The food was amazing. The foie gras was wonderful. I had the special which was medallions of wapiti with a foie gras sauce which was amazing. Our waitress was very helpful and the service was great. The whole night was truly great.... More

Of the restaurants I ate at in Quebec, this one definitely stood out. I started of with a soup of the day which was a cream of sweet potato, and it was among the best soups I have ever tasted. I also had a smoked fish platter, drizzled with an amazing berry juice and with sour cream. This dish was... More

Do enjoy the duck confit--it will not disappoint with accompanying parsnip gratin and braised cabbage. If you're lucky, pumpkin seed pie will be available.

Fortunately we were looking to eat a bit early on our first Friday night in the city and landed on this one after looking at trip advisor. We snagged the last outdoor seat. Loved everything about this - menu, food, service, atmosphere. I had the slow-cooked bison; my husband had the hanger steak. The presentation was beautiful and both were... More

If you're looking for a special place to eat local Québécois-iinspired high-end cuisine, look no further...Chez Boulay will satisfy your yearning. Located on popular Saint-Jean street, in the center of the Upper Town, a few minutes walk from the famed Chateau Frontenac, Chez Boulay, which has been around for many years, offers a modern bistro locale where local ingredients are... Description
It's the story about a meeting on the set of Les chefs in 2010. It's also the story about a common passion expressed today in their menu of boreal inspirations. Northern cuisine offers a unique re-imagination of our local regional products, to the rhythm of our seasons. Elk, fish, elderflower and wintergreen play an integral part in our inventive menu. A surprising mix of culinary traditions and international influences. Bistro style and boreal inspiration join forces to create gourmet pleasures.
