If you come here for dinner, I hope you enjoy wild game; if not, you'll have trouble finding much to eat. The set price menu seemed to be a good value until we read the fine print: almost everything on it came at an extra cost. My husband had the bison stew and felt it tasted too much like liver;... We enjoyed a traditional 3-course French Canadian meal at Aux Anciens Canadiens. The meal included an appetizer or soup, a hearty main course, dessert, and a glass of wine, all for $19.95 (Canadian dollars). The atmosphere and the food, which was hardy and filling, were authentic and enjoyable. You can also order other entrees from the menu, but this was... More

Had their lunch special (served until 5:45) which included 2 wines, soups, entrees and desserts. Had awesome honey turnip soup, salmon pie and maple pie. My husband also enjoyed his pea soup, tourtiere and sorbet. Great staff and very charming older restaurant. Great deal for $19 per person.

Delicious food and Canadian history all rolled into one. It can't be beat. Cozy spot for a romantic night in the city. A bit pricy but the special includes a drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert! Incredible deal.

The food was fantastic. Everything we ordered was great. Every meat dish was delicious. A bit more expensive than we anticipated but I'd go back in a heartbeat. Great atmosphere.

My wife and I tried Aux Anciens Canadiens during our recent visit to Quebec and it was every bit as good as I had anticipated after researching it. For dinner I had their grilled stag, bison and wapiti tenderloins, she had the salmon fillet and everything was perfect. It was so good that we went back for lunch the next... More

My husband had the wild sampler and I had the chicken. The food was fun and filling we were too full for dessert which rarely happens. The staff was so patient with each table she would explain over and over the menu. We had a few drinks so our tab was up there but well worth the experience.

We didn't get a chance to eat their food, but we did stop in to get out of the rain and enjoy a nice glass of red wine. The servers were friendly and they were wearing authentic costumes. The atmosphere was really nice.

It was nice to come in off the street and have multiple courses for a reasonable cost. Visit timing: off-season Monday @2pm Service: 4/5 our server was a nice young man. At some point (likely due to our timing) he seemed to be the only one serving all tables. It was a bit hard to get refill of water. Cleanliness:... More
