The house specialty is a 3 meat plus potato pie with great flavor. Service was fine Server noted first fish and chips were overdone and brought replacements. Ok but not as great as meat pies but service

Very popular restaurant in Quebec City for Breakfast/Brunch 2 people. Went at 11:00 a.m. Not very large, we waited in line outside for about 15 minutes. In the rain. Service was quick and efficient. Menu is very extensive. Something for everyone. Food was served hot and was very flavorful.. Good size portions. Cost was reasonable. We had crepes and special assorted breakfast platter. $44.63 with tip.

Short wait to get inside. Plenty of food for your money. Basic food. If you are looking for more than plain food, do not go here. This place is for the common folk with basic tastes. If you come here, do not order things like spaghetti; common quebecois did not eat spaghetti. Eat food they ate.

Customers were waiting in line to enter the restaurant for dinner and it was rated highly on Trip Advisor so we stopped in. Very disappointing dinner. The fish and chips was below average… a lot of batter. Spouse got a chicken and broccoli dish which had no flavor. The chicken and rice soup appetizer appeared to be from a can. Dinner rolls were served in commercial packaging. We also opted for the dessert special which seemed like undercooked bisquick that had a butter/brown sugar glaze. Service was spotty. The atmosphere was that of a diner. Maybe the higher ratings are for breakfast? If you’re seeking dinner, look elsewhere.

Visited for dinner and found it quite disappointing. We saw that there was usually a line, especially at breakfast and decided to go early for dinner. I ordered the mixed meat pie and my wife had fish and chips. The meat pie came with canned carrots and peas and a small salad. The meat pie portion was huge but was inedible for me with an extremely heavy dose of clove that overwhelmed all other flavors and was so strong that the aroma was a bit overpowering even while just sitting with the plate in front of me. It permeated everything and I couldn't eat more than a couple bites. The crust was also very thick and saturated, and there were no flavors detectable other than clove. The server shrugged when she asked why I didn't eat it and we were still charged for it. My wife's fish and chips were ok, but the breading on the fish was very thick at least for our taste. The French fries and Cole slaw were the highlights of the meal. Fortunately, everything was quite inexpensive, which along with the huge portions may explain why the place is always crowded, but it was quite disappointing meal for us, and we won't be back.

Cute patio and very busy. We stopped for lunch/brunch. Our server Louise was not friendly or cooperative when I asked - in very polite French (I am fluent but with an English accent) if they could make me scrambled eggs cooked in oil vs butter. Most places use oil anyways and I have had no problem with this. But she said no it is not possible they are too busy. I asked her what could I have and she just shrugged. I asked about another item and if it was safe. She shrugged again and said I don’t know. Did not offer to go ASK the cooks which is reasonable and normal for servers in nice places to do. So I had asked for the chicken sandwich (on the menu) with mayo and no cheese. A teensy little chicken sandwich with a touch of mayo arrived. Not even a lettuce leaf or tomato slice to garnish it. At least it was only 6$. The server Louise did return later and was a bit more pleasant because i think she could see I was annoyed and she wanted a tip. My husband and son liked their breakfasts for the most part - found it average. We will not return when in town next year.

The best cipaille I've ever eaten! It melted in your mouth! I'm not a fan of traditional dishes, but the waiter recommended it to me and frankly, I was amazed! I recommend! Beautiful atmosphere, open kitchen and very clean toilets, delicious meal! My boyfriend had a burger: very satisfied too!

Walked from our hotel past other spots. When we arrived was a line outside, decided to wait and didn’t take long. Once inside the menu was large and fit everyone’s needs. Had the French onion soup and was very good ( tried the French onion soup at all stops, not one the same ) caffe kept coming which was good, everyone enjoyed their meal and were planning on going back again.

Restaurant which is located apart from the main arteries where all the other restaurants are located. Excellent experience!!! We ate in the evening, there were Quebec specialties, very good food, friendly and warm staff. I recommend 100%. The prices are also more affordable than in other restaurants we came across in Quebec.

We had lunch on the very nice patio with our infant. The restaurant provided a high chair, which was appreciated. Shared burger and French toast. The menu seemed to be diner-style. Food was quite good. The best part was the home fries served on the side of the French toast, which were excellent - we totally understand why this is a highly rated breakfast spot! Burger was fine, pretty average. We may go again this trip for breakfast/ brunch.

Out of my 3 days visiting Quebec City from Toronto this place was by far my favourite. My wife got the eggs Benedict with salmon and I got over easy eggs with bacon, sausage and ham (2 eggs 3 meat). The place was full and after waiting for 5 minutes outside we got our table for 2 upstairs. Such a nice environment and scene. Unfortunately my French sucks but we had no problem ordering in English and speaking to our waitress. Overall 5 out if 5.

I’m sad to have to write this, the food is just gross. Spaghetti with meat sauce on the side (inedible mouldy taste) revealed crispy day old spaghetti noodles.. NO PARMESAN too WTF?? charged extra for chef salad substitution 6$ on a vegan burger (very basic) only to get lettuce, apples (?) congealed mozzarella and croutons… disgusting and certainly not vegan, and not a chef salad. Nasty. Waitress couldn’t give a sh!t. I feel duped by the reviews -seems like it’s only good for breakfast. Which is hard to screw up. Horrible service, and food. DO NOT GO

We had a couple of very good meals here, both breakfast and dinner. The meals are more traditional Canadian meals, if you want very expensive 'French style' meals, this is not for you. If you want some really good local food at a very reasonable place then this is the place for you

Found this little gem by accident and boy was it busy. We had to queue outside, but not for long and it was worth the wait. Speaking to locals, apparently it is the place to go for breakfast, brunch and lunch. The menu has a great variety of sweet and savoury meals, the prices are reasonable, staff a really friendly and the despite being packed, our meals arrived really quickly.

My husband and I love going to buffet de l'antiquaire whenever we are in the city. Authentic quebecoise cuisine that is tasty and unpretentious, friendly staff, and central location. I love that their prices are reasonable which isn't usually something I care about but so much food in the city is criminally overpriced. Unlimited coffee pours too which is a plus and makes me feel right at home.
