I don’t know where to start in praise of this amazing restaurant. A truly incredible culinary experience from the second we walked in until the door of our Uber shut on the way back to the hotel. The staff is friendly and welcoming- they know and love their restaurant, but there is no pretentiousness- they adopt to the customer and we enjoyed chatting with our service team and learning more about wine then we could have imagined. Not a flaw or complaint as we navigated, at a pleasant pace, from cocktails to amuse buche and on to appetizers, main courses and desserts. There is something for everyone on the small but well curated menu. Portions are not “Americized,” but this is NOT a “two peas in a pod” place. Perfectly cooked lamb, excellent veal sweetbreads, and fabulous fish. The appetizers did amazing things with foi grasse and tuna. The wine list is going to be overwhelming. Unless you are a true connoisseur, you will need help which they gladly provide at any price level. You won’t find a $20 bottle here but there are many good choices under $100, hundreds in the “splurge” range and a significant number of “experience of a lifetime bottles” in their five-figure bottle cellars. We experienced two minor mistakes- our digestives were forgotten but then provided gratis when we asked that the unserved item be removed from the bill. There was one other mistake on the bill which was quickly corrected. The tariff here is not for the faint of heart, expect at least CA$100 per person (app, main, dessert) before any beverages, but well worth every penny. A must stop on any foodie trip to Quebec City. True gourmands or just folks having a special evening will be welcome and comfortable. Business casual recommended.

We picked this restaurant for my wife's birthday and found it to be a good choice with a couple exceptions. My wife had lamb and she really enjoyed it. I ordered the tuna and it was very good but was not trimmed well so there were parts that I could not eat. The desserts were the best ever! I had a dessert that looked like a candle but was totally edible. Only other issue was that the wine steward recommended a very expensive wine to us (did not ask our price range) so we agreed. He was a bit pushy. All-in-all, I would recommend this beautiful restaurant but reject food if it was not up to your satisfaction and tell the wine steward your preferred price range.

We made last-minute reservations and could not be seated in the preferred section of the restaurant, so we got the street view instead. We both ordered a glass of wine, and the server seemed puzzled as to why my wife chose white while I chose red. The server also made fun of my wife's accent when she ordered steak. Not a great start. We were served an amuse-bouche, which was delicious, along with bread. The bread was excellent! Our filet mignons arrived, and they were delicious. Our server walked by and noticed my wine glass was empty but never offered a refill. For dessert, we had crème brûlée with marshmallows. Overall, it was a good dinner, but the dining experience was mediocre. It could have been better.

Very disappointed, we went for our 40th anniversary inch I stayed on my reservation and most restraints acknowledge this with at least a congratulations, not here. A don't think you will be seated in the beautiful dinner are you see on website, they stuck us in a smaller room, I asked to be moved to the main dinning area but was told it was fully booked, I had made reservations a month before. This was the main response for booking this restaurant because of the atmosphere, didn't get that. Let get to the service, it was slow all because our waiter the only one in the room we were in was more concerned about talking about the extensive wine list with one other couple. I think they are more concerned with pushing their over priced wine than anything else. Food was good but it more about presentation. We didn't even bother with desert because to took so long to even be asked by the waiter. That said never again, previously we had went to the Continental and it was much nicer, and the event said Happy Anniversary.

A wait that is much too long, a server who pushes (strongly) for consumption, poor attention from the servers for a restaurant at this price. Little choice in terms of dishes, especially if you don't like foie gras (= 3 appetizers). That said, the cuisine is succulent and the dishes very well presented, but for the price paid (very, very expensive) we expect much friendlier service. Damage!

This was a second restaurant in Quebec City where we ate that proved to be a time warp. The difference was that Le Continental really worked whereas this one did not. Not very full and the staff struggled somewhat to start with although things improved once we pointed out that we had been waiting for 15 minutes without even being offered something to drink. Food was good. Atmosphere would have worked well in a full restaurant but in an almost restaurant the ambiance came over as faded glory.

We celebrated New Year's Eve at St amour! What a desappointment ! Stilted and amateurish service, pretentious menu but bland and unattractive food, we had the impression of being in a fancy restaurant aboard a cruise ship that had lost its panache of the best years.

It was far beyond our expectations. The service was slow and food was not that good. I had lobster ravioli which was ok and my husband had a lamb which was really bad. And they serve only half glass for sparking wine which is unusual. The waitress refused to take picture of us. We had a bad experience and felt waste of time and money, we have no reason to go back again.

I wrote a review of Saint-Amour in July 2019 which I titled “Oooo La La”. Not so much now. Feels like the food and service is just tired. The Discovery Menu food was as visually as exciting as ever, but the tastes and textures were lacklustre. Perhaps those game to try the premiere Discovery Menu offered at over $300pp may experience the Amour of old. The people clearing the tables and the fellow delivering the food were the most charming of the crew. Service and attention elsewhere waned noticeably when we showed modest interest in the wine menu. We’re sad that the biggest draw for us in Quebec City is a fond memory.

My wife and I dined at this world class restaurant to celebrate an early birthday for me and we weren’t disappointed! This establishment has it all from ambience, excellent service, fine presentation and execution. Alexander, our host was gracious and professional as were his staff members, Steve and Marie! We shared an appetizer of fish mousse that was tasty and ample for us and choose a half liter of Sancerre to perfectly complement our selection, priced at $77.00. Our main course comprised of Fish for my wife and I opted for Rack of Lamb, both priced at $54.00. A glass of delicious St. Emilion at $25.00 was the perfect match for my Lamb. The fish dish was good, but was a tad bland, while my Lamb was very good and perfectly cooked. We didn’t have dessert to follow, but we were quite content with the amount of food eaten. Our tariff with tax and gratuity was $330.00 and while high, there was no buyer’s remorse because of the restaurant’s commitment to fine service, quality presentation and execution throughout our two hour fine dining experience! Highly Recommended!

Two extravagant evenings. Dined last evening at Le Champlain at the Chateau Frontenac. We ordered the tasting menu paired with wines. A wonderful evening not to be forgotten. Tonight we dined at Le Saint Amour and selected the tasting menu paired with wines. Huge negative contrast. Waited one half hour before waiter came to table. We watched as a limited staff slowly took orders. An offering of a proseco or a taste of wine would have helped. The evening proceeded at a snails pace. Wine pours were embarrassingly minute. Paired wines, cutlery  food coordination unworthy of this highly recommended restaurant. Our Canadian next table neighbors were equally less than happy with their experience. It's a shame. The decor of the restaurant is worthy of a visit, but I suggest Le Champlain for a truly gourmet experience

My wife and I went to the Le Saint-Amour restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We choose the 7 course meal and it was excellent. The presentation of the food was impressive. The lamb, the arctic char, the foie gras and desserts were all delicious. There were many fine wines to choose from. The service was very good and the garden room made you forget how cold the outside was. If you had a reason to celebrate and were willing to spend several dollars to have a dining experience, this is a good choice.

An extraordinary experience, every bite is a delight. The sommelier's advice and the description of the wines are exceptional. The same for each of the dishes that were served to us the description makes our mouth water before taking our first bite. We took the tasting with the appropriate wine with each one. An experience to do at least once. Beautiful evening in a beautiful glass roof, well decorated.

We enjoyed a family meal for New Year's; the "Saint Sylvester" menu. The courses were excellent. The duck is by far their greatest strength. They did very well accommodating a guest with allergies. For most of us, the meal was a fantastic experience; pure excellence. I only wish they'd had the foresight to prepare a better children's menu as we let them know ahead of time we had a child; it was virtually the same as the adult menu. I don't know any child that would appreciate French cuisine. She survived the night on bread and cheese, and was fortunately happy in the end with a pizza back at the hotel... but tourists can't just leave their children at home, and a New Year's get together is all about family. They could have done better in this regard. The wine was a bit disappointing as well, I was expecting a wine pairing with each course but they did not offer one. I asked for help with a selection from the "by the glass" menu, but ended up with a mediocre glass of supermarket wine that didn't pair with anything. Apart from these small disappointments, it was an exceptional experience and we were very satisfied.

High end restaurant, exceptional service, creative and interesting dishes, served in an unforgettable setting. We are Americans and had a very beautiful evening last night. Per others’ complaints… at this price point I wouldn’t want to be in and out in less than 2 hours. It’s an experience and meant to be enjoyed leisurely, as any fine dining experience should be. I would say there is a section of the restaurant that I wouldn’t want to be seated in directly across from the bar. They have a nice old dining room in the front and a spectacular garden room where we were seated - I assume because we made the reservation well in advance of our visit to QC. Either way, just wanted to clear things up. This is a very nice place with a great staff and a special experience, especially for couples from America looking for a high end uniquely Québécois dinner.
