Ok ok the restaurant is in plain sight once you have found it. Google had a problem and got a little mixed up with the one way streets and streets that were more like back alleys than official streets. We were a few minutes late...because of our being lost but once we walked into the restaurant things began to come together. We ordered drinks but the rose wine and amber ale were not available but the replacements . Beef tartar as a appetizer for the four of us followed by the cod special, conchiglioni filled with lamb, duck confit and squab were all served together all hot and delicious. The dessert menu was short on eating choices but long on drinks which we all passed on.While the meal was a success , I would not say the service was particular stellar.More

Wonderful food and service, can't wait to go again. Comfortable, unhurried dinner. We had oysters to start. foie gras and charcuterie. Superb!

You know, I’m originally from Europe and a few days ago I was looking for a good restaurant to celebrate my birthday party in Quebec. The L’Echaude is supposed to be one of the most popular places to have a party. I was dying to...make a reservation and called the restaurant. Honestly speaking, it was an international call, so it could be a bad connection, but nevertheless, the reservationist could be friendlier. He didn’t want to answer my questions and offered me to write an e-mail because of group reservation. I went on and on that my questions were general, sort of, to get vegan and lactose free dishes, but he didn’t bother hearing me. I was really upset and bewildered. I’m kinda convinced that this restaurant is going to step off the track to be a high-end place with excellent food and service, if they drop out of clients so easyMore

Our tour guide recommended Echaude and it was a good recommendation. The innovative menu delivered excellently prepared food with good locally sourced ingredients. The service was pleasant and friendly. It is rightly a popular Quebec restaurant.

Lovely spot for outdoor or indoor dining. Excellent menu with varied choices. I had the best duck confit I have ever had (it was made in house, I asked). I would return to Quebec City to eat here. Nice wines by the glass or bottle.

Very good foie gras for entree; duck leg was tasty but skin could be crisper. Vegetables seriously undercooked.

We had the best Mixologist! Made the perfect Amaretto Sour with sugar rim. Love the glasses and the company! we tried to go back, but just missed the lunch option by seconds! No worries, still the best we've ever had! Going back for dinner next...year (we had dinner a few years back, absolutely marvelous!)More

Although it wasn’t anything to rave about I’m sure it could’ve been worse. My main came with fries, nothing like the fries from the US. The service was timely. We wanted an earlier reservation but none was available and when we arrived at 830pm the...place was literally empty. The duck dish was very good.More

Unfortunately this restaurant is highly rated when in fact it is overrated. The veal main course was very small and the vegetables inedible. It is pricey, or should I say overpriced. On top of that the waitress was young and inexperienced. Very bad value. What...a shame!More

Lunch at L'Echaude in the Petit Champlain area of Old Quebec is a great idea. The food was super and the price was surprisingly reasonable. I had the skate wing for $24cad, and it was very close to a Chilean sea bass in taste and...texture. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!!More

Mixed Quality. Soups are good. Food is fatty and oil saturated. Salads are good. Cannot understand why people rate with 5 stars. A typical tourist in-eat-cash-out restaurant.

Wonderful French bistro with a friendly staff. We liked it so much that we went back several times. I agree with the many reviews of their excellent scallops and their rabbit dish is also superb. Great desserts, too.

You must order the scallops. End of review. Ha! Also: Loved the Smoked Salmon appetizer: square chunks of salmon were delicious. Cream of asparagus (cold) soup was also amazing. Another main dish worth getting besides the scallops is the duck (also pictured). For wines, I...like to try local wines and they have a Quebec white wine by the glass that is brisk, crisp, dry, refreshing. Dining room feels a lot like Paris (in a good way). Service is decent, but with a very young staff.More

Very good food, the best scallop dish we have had in a long time, perfectly cooked, looked good too with nice caramelisation to the scallops, good number too. Wine by the glass was good. Good value too for a tourist area. Outside tables, may have...to request if booking.More

After reading many reviews, we decided to dine here and were disappointed. The outdoor area was not open when we dined, and the tables indoors were so close together we could hear conversations on both sides of us. I opted for the 3-course tasting menu...and my husband opted for the halibut main course. My selections for the tasting menu consisted of salmon tartar which was good, but not great; warm goat cheese over brioche which had way too much goat cheese filling; and the marinated escolar which was drowned in soy sauce--so much that you could not appreciate the other flavors. Service was very good and the server answered our questions. But sadly, we would not return.More

I checked on their web site and i does not mention any gluten free options. You could always send them an email with the question. It's a great resto by the way.
