Not far from Auberge St Antoine, this is a atmospheric bistro for a date night. Simple bistro fare with some Italian dishes thrown in to suit evolving palate, the bill is not exactly economy class but still digestible for those on a budget visit. Service was brisk and excellent.

My wife and I visited for dinner tonight. The place was busy, but the greeting and service were outstanding. The pace of service was perfect and our servers were attentive. But the Québécois cuisine stole the show. Tartare of fresh and smoked salmon app was off the charts - intensely flavored with mild Thai curry and sesame oil. Lobster with... More

From the moment you walk into this charming bistro, you are made to feel welcome. Service is attentive without being obtrusive. We enjoyed the highly recommended salmon tartar - this was excellent. We also sampled the steak tartar; while it was fine, we much preferred the salmon option. Our waiter said the gnocchi was "sinful but so good," and we... More

We had a wonderful, lively dinner at L'Echaude. It has a very Bistro like feel to the place, it is very busy and very lively with servers and patrons moving about freely. The food is excellent and they have something for everyone, our daughter surprised my wife and I by ordering a few dishes and proceeding to eat them all... More

Three of us stopped in for dinner and, initially, thought we might have made a mistake as the place was virtually deserted! Not to worry, the crowds arrived a little closer to 7:00 p.m. - perhaps THE time to dine in Old Quebec? Very varied menu with much to appeal to carnivores and vegans alike. I went with a seal... I really liked this place. They offer outside patio eating (very pretty atmosphere), and a larger inside restaurant. Service is fast and friendly. One day ate lunch and had the goat cheese salad which was so much more than it sounds....it was delicious!! Thank you. One morning came for breakfast can't remember what I had but both me and my... The service was lovely and the food was amazing. It was nice-- a little on the formal side, but the staff was incredibly warm and friendly. Definitely would consider this restaurant for a fine dining, special treat in Quebec City. The service may be considered slow by American standards, but I appreciated that we weren't rushed out the door or... More
