Service was exceptional, food was fantastic and the wine pairing was also amazing. The menu for the nine course meal was diverse and a really great experience with the wine pairing. Highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Quebec City.

I would have ranked this restaurant much higher. It started so well: after being greeted at host station you are taken behind a door and suddenly you are in the kitchen where all the chefs stop to greet you. Fantastic! I’ve never seen this before...and it sets you to smiling right from the start. I am a diner who feels ambiance is very important to the enjoyment of a meal. For $600+tip ( for two) you’d expect much more than a table facing a bright red exit sign and looking out the window to see a ratty outdoor terrace and view of a gas station. Keep in mind this restaurant only offers a 6 or 9 item menu with wine pairings if requested, no a la carts. When we reserved several weeks earlier there was only the option of 545 or 830. Makes sense to do two sittings of full menu dining. However, after we arrrived at 545, we watched new diners arriving all the time. Frankly made us a bit chuffed especially since we’d called several times over the course of the weeks leading up to the meal to see if 630 or 7 would be possible. Although the food was good, at times excellent and inventive, by the time we were being fed (it seemed in a rush and by mostly stiff servers) we were hard pressed to enjoy given the poor ambiance. But we did our best. Really I feel more attention to ambiance and experience of every table and diner would send my ranking roaring upwards.More

Great location and amazing staff . The menu is well curated and presented Every plate is a unique wow. The flavours and textures were amazing. There was little lag between courses and couple of dishes were not hot enough

Quebec city have some of the best dining options in Canada. This was another amazing place to dine. Good wine list and well curated cocktails. The plating of the food was the most amazing part. Loved it

My family and I tried several tasting menus all over the province - and after trying almost 10 of the best, I have to say that the Laurie Raphael 6 services / themes menu was the absolute best. Flawless from the service to the presentation,...taste of the food and the use of the terroir. Highly recommend the place + it's located in old Quebec City.More

I am 76 years old. This one of the top restaurants ever. At the very very top, it is impossible to make a clear cut choice. The food was varied and beautifully presented in a clever and intelligent tasting menu - a special one for...Valentine's day. I have looked at their regular tasting menus and they look equally tasty. Just looking at a menu here turns me into one of Pavlov's dogs. Go.More

Wonderful experience. From the first step through the kitchen ... to the seat at the bar ... to the desert. 11 tasting courses was a lot! But it was thoroughly enjoyable to see how superb chefs create amazing dishes.

We have eaten in some of the best degustation restaurants around the world so we were particularly looking forward to this one. The ambience and welcome is outstanding..faultless! They spent some time telling us about the history of the restaurant and even took us through...the kitchen where the chef's welcomed us - we were made to feel like valued clients and this theme ran throughout the"food journey". We had the 11 course with sommelier wines. Each course was carefully explained to us and the wines were good. Our only issue was that the food was at times bland. We had a fois gras which was almost tasteless and the duck Wellington was bland. We were particularly looking forward to these but we were very disappointed. The restaurant really missed an opportunity to elevate these dishes to standouts. The fish based dishes however really hit the mark. In our opinion the $650 (for two) was extremely high based on the food experience however the service and ambience were excellent.More

My wife & I booked a reservation with Laurie Raphael (LR), as we were off on a cruise up the St. Lawrence, our second leg of our 3 part fall foliage tour of the North Eastern Sea Board. So, it seem fitting that we have...a great Bon Voyage dinner on our last night in Quebec. The entrance to LR is a small bit of a room as it seemed to be planned to give the feeling of being cloistered as the world of LR would begin opening up to you if you exhibit some patience. Eventually, we were escorted through the Kitchen as the chef expects to see his guests see where all the divine food is made...as we went through to the bar, we acknowledged & said our hellos. We sat at the bar, another somewhat enclosed area, comfortable, sleek and contemporary. We went with our usual cocktails of a Cosmo and Old Fashion. In due time, the Maitre' d presented the menu, a choice of a 3 or 5 course meal with a price tag of $110 or $155 per person. Wine pairing for each course is a separate charge and you can choose between the Classic at $90 or Sommelier $60. I will not go through the specifics of each 7 course meal. Safe to say they were all very unique, interesting and delicious. Each course was paired, again with a unique wine, selected locally as well as Internationally recognized wines accentuating our taste buds for each course. This is an restaurant with an ostentatious culinary bent that can be a bit intimidating. We enjoyed the LR, its environment, staff and the food. Every once and while we need to move out of comfort zone and experience something new, unique and different. Thank you, Gran Chefs for your presentations.More
