Stumbled upon Bon Temps Cafe while walking around downtown looking for a place to eat and was immediately excited. What a unique concept to find in a Prairie city and the space seemed incredible. I got a seat at the bar and was served by...a friendly young lady who helped me with my beverage and meal selection before I was handed off to a bartender. For a main I had the Blackened Chicken Breast, w/ Caesar Salad and beans. The chicken breast was fantastic (super flavourful), salad was fresh and dressing was really good, beans were beans. I also had their “pile o bones” (happy hour portion) to start these were kind of meh. Anyways overall food was 8 out of 10, but service at the bar was not great. Had dude been moderately kind or nice I’d probably be back for dinner again tonight but it kind of felt like I was a pain. He wasn’t rude, just not friendly. Anyways, would be cool to check out as a couple or with a group but I probably won’t be back.More

This was my first time visiting this Louisiana infused restaurant. The vibe is different than other restaurants (especially in Saskatoon) and I really appreciated the service. Food was tasty and we enjoyed Voodo Hour. The mussels, crab cakes and mac & cheese were tasty and...a good size. The beer was cold and it was a different type of experience, which I really appreciated.More

It all started with a great intro via website and friend's suggestion that we should try this. In town for a trade show and we were looking for a cultural and foodie experience. Vibe was great. Atmosphere awesome. Drinks delicious. Server was wonderful. Food absolutely...disappointing. I had the Seafood Creole. I was led to believe I would get red snapper, scallops, and other seafood on rice with fresh corn and a biscuit. What I got was shredded and minced seafood with chunks of scallops, one craw dad that was very salty and more of a garnish then part of the meal and half cooked rice. Corn was cold. Would I go back? No. I got a discount on the food which after tipping the waitress pretty much balanced out.More

Did this restaurant get new owners or something? My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for years and it has always been reserved for special occasions because it is always that good. It was our favourite restaurant. The atmosphere, food, and service...has always been amazing, but something changed on this visit. We were seated and then forgotten about. Our waitress was not as welcoming as we have had in the past but whatever, food is always good. It took a long time for us to order since the waitress would go and talk to the other waitresses in the back of the restaurant. Finally, we were able to order our food and have our drink. This restaurant always had a great atmosphere but even that was different on this visit. There was no music playing and it was not as lively as it had been in the past. It was almost like I was sitting in a Boston Pizza but at least Boston Pizza has TVs and sound in the restaurant. After waiting a long time, we finally received our food and that was the straw that broke the camel's back. We could have got the same type of food at Boston Pizza. I had the jambalaya, and it was like eating rice a roni with overcooked sausage and it only had 2 shrimp and an undercooked crawfish. I can't remember what my wife ordered which is sad because in the past we would rave about the food to each other afterwards and then to our friends and family. We finished eating and it took the waitress 30 minutes after to notice. We had plans after our meal, but we had planned it out to make it to the next place in time. The waitress finally comes over and we ask for the bill, perfect, let's get out of here. We waited another 45 minutes to receive our bill because the waitress was in the back talking to other workers. I actually had to leave the restaurant to get the car so we could make it to the next destination. My wife actually had to get up from the table and ask the waitress again for the bill. It is October when I write this, and we went here in April. I was hoping when I read other recent reviews that maybe something changed but clearly it has not. I was going to give this restaurant one last chance but reading these new reviews, I think I will spend our money and time elsewhere.More

Worst service we have had in years. We had company in town from Ontario, so we wanted to show them a unique local restaurant. We were seated immediately, but from there no service. Waitresses would walk right by our table and did not acknowledge us...at all. Finally after close to 1/2 an hour we walked out and nobody did anything, except one waitress who said "Have a nice night" What a joke. We went to another local restaurant and spent over $200 for our meal, so I guess it was their loss.More

I waited 15 minutes at the front (with noone else in front of me) waiting to be greeted/acknowledged. Staff members who walked by just ignored us. I finally interrupted someone walking by to ask for service. I witnessed this happen to the next person who...walked in as well. The chicken burger was so salty, it was barely edible. The server was brand new and she was very nice and tried her best. I would not go back and I am definitely turned off of Cajun food. The only thing that we really enjoyed was the appetizer shrimp. The ambiance was crazy loud which is fine if thats what you are into.More

Went here at 4:50 PM on May 6, 2022. Thought we'd have 4 or 5 appetizers as our meal. Got to the front station, and had to wait 2 or 3 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. There were about 4 or 5 tables full...- maybe 30% full. Then the hostess took her clipborad and hummed an hah-ed for another 2-3 minutes. No idea what she was doing. Then she sat us, and we waited another 5 minutes before our server arrived. We then asked for paper menus, and were told they don't have any. I then suggested to my wife that we go elsewhere. I usually find, when the service starts bad, it usually stays bad. So we left and went elsewhere - a god decision I believe.More

Third time trying this establishment in the past few years, kept hoping it would get better, it hasn’t. Took the wife out for a date. The hush puppy app was so greasy I couldn’t wash the oil out of my mouth. Had the jambalaya, the...sausage was black, dry and burnt, the sauce tasted life it came from a can. The creole dish was the same level of tasteless. Also had a bowl of “gumbo” tomato soup with rice. My wife promised to remind me if I ever consider going again . . .More

Jambalaya tasted like rice-a-roni and the Seafood Creole tasted exactly the same, the hush puppies were so greasy they slid off the table. Sad to say we don’t have a great Cajun restaurant in Saskatoon.

Bon Temps served up an excellent experience! Nicole on the floor and Domenic behind the bar provided 5 star service. The food was really outstanding, a true Creole menu in the middle of the prairies. Gumbo- excellent, crab cakes - excellent ‘pile o bones’ side...ribs will have you asking ‘where have you been all my life’. And of course Jambalaya, also excellent. And if you have room then the Baignet for desert- but make sure you have someone to share with! What also stood out was their pride in being part of Saskatoon’s fine dining community, sharing a list of other great places to try I subsequent visits. Local beer by Great Western Brewing is a story in itself, so check it out.More
