True Mexican experience. Food, decor, from plates, glasses, to decoration and food. Oleotilia Sanchez is the "doña" owner and she keeps a watchful eye on her kitchen and customers. Every salsa and plate is made from scratch. She and her daughter travel each year to...Mexico to bring those secret ingredients, plates and all. COVID 19 protocol is followed carefully. Masks and name|phone number. Reservations neededMore

The food was excellent, and not something I would have been able to do in my own kitchen. The service was friendly, professional and quick. The deck was open on a chilly day, so they brought us fresh warm blankets from the dryer. The Margarita's...were perfect and the decaf coffee was fresh. Thanks.More

On a recent motorcycle trip to Whitehorse during the covid challenge I was looking for a restaurant that I could actually sit and enjoy a meal vs takeout that didn't have a burger in it. When I read some of the reviews I decided Sanchez...Cantina looked like it fit the bill. I was very impressed from me showing up without a reservation and being by myself to their covid security protocol which was very well thought out and implemented. I was asked a series of questions, asked for my cell number in the event I had to be contacted for follow up covid tracing. Entering there was hand sanitizer that I was asked to use, the floors were well marked with arrows on how to enter and exit. I was seated at a table that could hold 6 even though there were a couple of 2 seat tables. The paper menu's were hung on a post at the table. There was sanitizer on the table as well. As for the meal I had there dinner special of Tacos de Pollo. 4 small corn tortillas filled with grilled chicken & topped with tomato, onion & Avocado salsa. Served with guacamole & 2 of: black beans, rice or tossed salad which was excellent. The place is quite colourfully decoratedMore

This place is awesome, everything is super delicious and the staff and service is amazing. Pretty big patio. But make sure to make a reservation!! It also closes pretty early so check hours but definitely worth going!

This restaurant came highly recommended and we decided to try it out. Let me start by saying, my wife and I travel to Mexico frequently. The restaurant has minimal parking, but it’s easy to find a spot on the street. Inside is clean and looks...like a cantina you’d find in a tourist area of Mexico. The menu definitely looks appealing and the staff was quick to seat you, take your order and check on you. We ordered two different items, a quesadilla and Gordita. I received a taco and my wife received a tostada. When asked about what we received, the waitress simply said “that’s authentic Mexican and it looks different.” Having been to Mexico numerous times, I can assure you that it was anything but authentic and we know what we received. Instead of raising a fuss, we ate it anyways. The portions of the main dish were tiny, with one “taco” and one “tostada” per plate. What was large, was the sides, with a dinner plate full of mushy rice and black beans, that obviously came from a can and were not drained before hitting the plate, leaving black bean water all over everything. The meal was overpriced for what we received. Unfortunately, we would not return to this establishment.More

Excellent, authentic Mexican. Certainly not the type of meal I expected in Whitehorse. We decided to go here at the last minute on the recommendation of some locals. It was a very busy Friday night but be we got a table eventually. Like all my...experiences in The Yukon the staff were very friendly. Food was excellent and the margaritas weren’t bad either! You will be missing out if you don’t give them a try.More

This family run restaurant is busy with efficient and friendly wait staff. The food is all done on site, mostly it seemed, pre-prepared which is why it was so fast. I had the cheese and potato chile rellenos which were quite good. Big tasty margaritas...as well.More

Wonderful food and people too. I love the burrito and the flan so much I always get it. Friends get other dishes and always love them. The price is very reasonable too.

Traveling through Alaska this summer, we found great Mexican food hard to find, until we found Sanchez Cantina. Coming from Colorado, and traveling extensively in the South West, we know a great enchilada when we taste one. Our meal did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, and...an even better meal. A stop here will not disappoint.More
