We went to Burgshanke for a birthday party and it made for a wonderful venue. It’s about a 30 minute drive east of Kaiserslautern along the A6, on the fringes of the weinstrasse. The restaurant is part of a medieval castle, set into it’s ruins. Parking can be difficult along the narrow alleys, but the short walk is well worth... More

Had a great dinner with the team. My colleague ordered the T-bone steak which took up the whole plate! The deer carpaccio with horseradish and Apple was outstanding! The service was lovely and she spoke 3 different languages to serve our table!

It's not every day you can have dinner in an old castle. Neuleiningen is a small, quaint town perched on the top of a hill with narrow winding streets and an impressive ruined castle visible from the A6 autobahn. We'd always wondered about the castle, and when we learned it has a restaurant, we decided to give it a try.... More

Used to go to this restaurant quite often until the original owners turned it over and the quality went way down. Happy to report that my latest meal was quite like the old days. Glad it is back on its game.

I went there several times. It's a beatiful folkloristic restaurant within a meaningful place. Beef is super and the wood plate used to serve it is really nice. Very friendly and...good beer!!!

The food was traditional German and very tasty. The service was wonderful and friendly. We had a choice of terrace or interior; we chose interior because we can dine outdoors at home, dining in the cellar/dungeon of a genuine castle does not happen in our "hood". After dinner we strolled the grounds, enjoyed the view of the vineyards and countryside.... More

Really worth the detour. People who come, usually as an invitation from someone in the know, will find their way back here for a second visit. No need to overspend, they offer even simple bratwurst, but it is one of the most delicious I have had.

When in the area we always find time to dine at Burgschänke Neuleinigen. The views are wonderful, and the awareness of history is inspiring in the ruins of this castle built in the 1200s. Surely everything on the menu is wonderful, but it is hard for us to resist the filet of ox with rösti. Your server will present the... More

The Burgschanke Neu Leiningen is one of those amazing restaurants sort of in the middle of nowhere that loyal customers will drive hours to visit. Their signature dish is Ochsen filet am stuck, in which they bring the meat out on a slab ahead of time and everyone tells the waitress how much to cut for their portion. We've been... More
