In a glorious setting overlooking a magnificent Umbrian valley, this outstanding restaurant offers wonderful food in an artful, somewhat whimsical atmosphere full of art and color. You also can dine outside in the ancient walls enjoying the view. The ravioli with zucchini was the best pasta dish I had in my 10 days in Italy. The menu was creative and... More

Nice atmophere, food is not too bad but service is very slow so recommended only if you are not in a hurry and don0t want to taste typical traditional food

We are hiking the St Francis Camino through Tuscany and Umbria. Today we were fortune enough to have hiked through the Village of Citerna and stop for lunch at the Osteria le civette. This is simply an outstanding restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of modern Italian food at reasonable prices. There is a terrific wine list of local... More

A casual pass through the country town of Citerna and I stumbled on an amazing Osteria. Nestled in the walls of a historic town, Citerna, where you can see the old "Cisterns", I found this amazing gem. A Salad of raw Asparagus, Artichokes, Fava Beans and Pecorino followed by a main course of stewed Rabbit, Tomatoes and Potato mash. Great... More

We've dined here about half a dozen times since Le Civette opened in beautiful hilltop Citerna and always had a fantastic experience - until this occasion when it was only "so-so". The food was fairly good but the service was charmless. A man I would guess to be the owner or manager was very pleasant and energetic but the waiting... More

Situated in the medieval walkway that surrounds Citerna, or in the underground section of the old part of the village, this quaint restaurant provides lovely food. Essentially Italian but with an adventurous twist, making this a good option for those who fancy a change from the delicious but sometimes similar food in Umbria and Tuscany.

This restaurant come very highly recommended, so I came to the medieval borgo of very high hopes and high expectations. The building is great and it is very cute how it is decorated on the inside. The hosts were awesome and the service was very good. However, the food was a major disappointment across the board for me. For me,... More

We first went to Le Rasse just after it had opened a couple of years ago. The owner and restauranteur was welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and for those who don't speak Italian, has good English and French. We're on his e-mail list and were in Tuscany once again for Easter this year, so were tempted by the e-mail announcing a traditional... More

Citerna's not on the beaten track, you need to drive a dozen or so km from Sansepolcro or Citta di Castello. But the drive is worth it. Within the fortress' ramparts is an oasis of colour and light and welcome and taste that is Le Civette. Beautifully decorated with amusing touches (books scattered around the room and on the tables),... More
