We were trying to find some other restaurant but it wound up being closed for the rainy season. Saw Yolanda’s and decided to give it a try and very glad we did! Great service, great food, good prices. She had the filete chimichurri and i had fish tacos, both excellent. Big plates too! Nice garden and Yolanda and everyone else were very warm and kind! Definitely recommend!

Have come to Yolanda's for about 20 years and it never fails to deliver. Although there are no longer pigs running around, and the prices seem to deter the locals, Yolanda is a charm, the food is still high quality, and the prices for NorthAmerican's are still very reasonable.

She greats you with a hug and a peck on the cheek. Then the food comes in bulk. The ceviche is to die for and anything on the menu is great. Her sauces are all super. Then the bill comes and your sure she forgot something but no. She can't thank u enough and a definite choice for return. Don't let the road appearance discourage u.

We read such great reviews and love eating with the locals but this was a miss for us. We went for dinner and loved being greeted by Yolanda like we were her long lost friends but our joy stopped there. We have been eating such clean fresh food and we ordered the rice and beans which were delicious but our fish tacos were not. They arrived drenched in too much (bad) oiled onions and fish...no fresh cabbage. The cats roaming under our table and a few mosquito bites was too much for me. If you love your food fried in too much oil I'm sure you'll love it. In our fairness we didn't try the ceviche that everyone raves about.

Great, safe place to eat while visiting El Limon Dos in Tola (near Rivas). Yolanda is wonderful and (as the sign proclaims) the world's greatest grandmother. Food is fresh and quite tasty. Fish and chicken tacos, plantains, and homemade tortillas are all great. Locals tell me the prices here are relatively expensive for them, so it is likely that tourists are her main guests. Make sure you allow time for food preparation (especially for the more complicated items...like the chicken fajitas). As of July 2016, they've stopped serving beer (although they still have wine available). Menu is in English; I've been told she takes credit cards.

Excellent service and delicious food in large quantities. Right in the middle of authentic Nicaragua.

Yolanda's place is down the street from Rancho Santana. She has a lot of energy and spirit for a lady her age. You feel welcome and almost part of an extended family. Clearly, it's a better value than eating at the Club at Rancho Santana. It's still pretty upscale versus other restaurants further away from Rancho. I'd gladly go back the next time we are in Tola area.

Good & inexpensive breakfast. Wonderful double kiss greeting by Yolanda herself!! I would recommend using Nicaraguan currency here. Our Spanish is limited & the staffs English is limited & paying the bill was a little confusing. Overall wonderful experience.

Yolanda has a special place in my heart not only for her warm hospitality but her food is absolutely delicious, this woman knows her stuff and the price is reasonable. The portions are quite large so sometimes sharing might be a better option. She greets all the guests with a kiss on the cheek and is more than happy to make you feel right at home. Her Pollo jalapeño is by far my favorite dish i ate in Nicaragua!

The ceviche was just ok. The service was slow. The place was pretty grubby and smelly. Yes, Yolanda was old and sweet and friendly but we wouldn't go back there.

During the rainy season (May to November) a meal at Yolanda's is a great experience and a nice taste of the local area. But in the dry seasons, especially Feb, March, and April it can be incredibly dusty.

It is a brilliant place. You go there, you eat lobster fresh from the ocean, and you hug the cook in the end. This old charming lady comes and kiss the children, distributes hugs like a politician, and calculates the bill with you, helping her constant struggle with numbers, math and figures. But don't be fooled by appearences: She holds a PHD in cooking and Kitchen, and when it comes to Lobsters, she is the best in Central America. A must, simply a must. During our week-long stay in Popoyo, we ate there 3 times.

Cheap, delicious, and made by locals. The salty cheese and fried plantains appetizer and coconut sauce on fish entree was the best meal I had in Nicaragua!
