A charming, venue perfect for an afternoon tea that I recently enjoyed with my family. The Mitre pub has been stylishly decorated and furnished beautifully making for a relaxed homely atmosphere, but with a sense of luxury. The afternoon tea was as good as I have ever had (and I've had lots) and is very reasonably priced taking into consideration the quality of the food. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and Aunty (93) was treated to a special birthday surprise which totally made her day. It is well located along the high street, with easy parking. We all had a lovely time and I will definitely be returning.

A great lunch after a very interesting walk in this picturesque village and area. 6 of us, all had different dishes; some had luscious sweets; all at a very reasonable price. This was rounded off by very friendly staff in an unusual, old-fashioned environment. (Where did they get those signs?). And don't forget the raspberry crush. You just don't get lunches like this these days. Don't miss out.

We enjoyed an absolutely delicious afternoon tea in one of the gondolas - I would highly recommend!! Such a cool and festive vibe and the food really was delicious and plentiful. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and I felt it was good value for money given the quality and quantity of food, combined with the environment. I would recommend taking a phone or speaker with festive music, the waitress suggested we could put some Christmas tunes on and it really did put the cherry on top of a thoroughly enjoyable festive afternoon tea!

Excellent service for a last minute party of 6 for afternoon tea with a number of dietary requirements. The service was outstanding followed by outstanding food. My two girls really wanted to get out on the rainy afternoon and their mini kids afternoon teas served individually was just adorable they were so pleased. The afternoon tea is well worth every penny and it was such a great portion. If you want a great afternoon tea spot for a lunch date or a spot to take the kids this is the spot!

We visited today for breakfast to celebrate my due date and were absolutely thrilled with the quality of both the food and service. We visit the Mrs Salisburys in Maldon fairly regularly as we know we can always rely on them to provide delicious options that meet our dietary needs (1 vegan and 1 gluten-free). The new venture in Wickham Bishops is equally as wonderful! Beautifully decorated (as you’d expect if you’ve visited the Maldon one before!) with a warm, welcoming atmosphere this is just the thing for Wickham Bishops. The breakfast menu had an excellent range of options. We went for a full vegan breakfast (which was exceptionally generous in size!) and a salmon and scrambled eggs with gluten free toast. Both meals were delicious - you absolutely must try their homemade baked beans which are truly marvellous! We will absolutely be returning in the near future (although hopefully next time with baby!)

Very highly recommended. Took my mum for afternoon tea for her birthday, the staff were so lovely, brought out the cakes with a candle on one of them and sang happy birthday. The afternoon tea itself was absolutely delicious, with a fab selection of teas, sandwiches and cakes, will definitely be going back again

Wonderful afternoon tea on Sunday for Mother's Day. Food was presented beautifully & was so tasty. Nut allergy was catered for and any substitutions clearly explained. Love the cute boxes supplied to take home the cakes that were left over. The staff were all so friendly & professional. Big thanks to Mrs Salisbury, Nicky, Amanda, Faye and the guys behind the bar (who made the most amazing Limoncello Spritz!) Highly recommend a visit.

We had a family afternoon tea here which was amazing. Lovely fresh sandwiches with a really nice choice of fillings, cakes, scones etc some of which we took home in a goody bag as we couldn't eat it all. Fantastic choice of Teas to accompany it all. The staff are really friendly and the service is spot on. Beautiful venue in a quaint tea rooms in Wickham Bishops. Highly recommend the afternoon tea if you're looking for a nice treat for a special occasion.

I have to say, this is one of the best meals I have had. Your tongue wants more! The omelette had brie, cranberry, spinach & I believe walnuts. Excellent! & the strawberry meringue - beautiful. The staff are so well dressed, makes you feel your at a wedding because the desserts display on the tiers - makes you want to book another table for the next day! The crumble was excellent & the ice cream with it - was superb.

We had a Festive Afternoon Tea in the Ski Gondola, which was warmed by a small heater. Knee blankets were offered , but not needed. We were warmly welcomed, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The Tea was delicious and varied. Lovely fillings, scones cakes. The mint mouse, was popular. Mrs Salisburys delivers great quality food with excellent service. Always consistent on every vist.

We had afternoon tea and was one of the most delicious ones I’ve had. Nice think bread for the sandwiches and great selection of cakes. They were very accommodating of preferences for the afternoon tea, due to some dislikes. Service was great, friendly and helpful. They wouldn’t pester but always knew when to top up our tea or clear some plates. Unlike a lot of eateries that end up ignoring you once you have your food. Highly recommend, will be back!

How great for a village to have its own tea room. Great that the old pub has been put to use instead of being left empty like they are in so many villages across Essex. Mrs Salisbury’s is a traditional tea room. it offers a great selection of hot food, drinks (including alcohol & cocktails), sandwiches, cakes and puddings. The interior is beautiful in style with the pub that it use to be. Wooden beams, log burner and wooden tables. The menu is big offering a great choice. It was my first visit with the family. We had a jacket potato with Brie and bacon, a fresh prawn salad, two hot chicken, bacon and chilli ham toasties. One with chips the other with crisps. For drinks we had Pimms with all the trimmings, lemonade, sparkling water and tea and coffee. We were all a bit stuffed so we had lemon drizzle cake and chocolate brownies to takeaway. They offer a takeaway menu and lots of people came in to buy items to take home during our visit. Tables are not bookable so get there early if you want to have lunch as it was full during our visit. The people are lovely and polite. Seating is available both inside and outside. There is also a car park. Definitely worth a visit. There is another branch in Maldon which is closer to me so I will try that next time. But I will definitely visit again when visiting the family in Wickham Bishops.
