First time visit to this place and would recommend it. Party of seven on a busy night but still got great service and didn't wait long for our food. Would like to visit again when next in that part of the world

My wife and myself visited The Queens Head, Burley on Monday 20th March for a birthday lunch. We didn't want anything special and a traditional pub menu would be fine. The menu was as expected and we ordered fish and chips and beef and ale pie. It wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait very long. When the meals... More

Second time I've visited, it has its own vegetarian/vegan menu. The staff were pleasant and the food came pretty quickly. I ordered the spicy quinoa burger with chips. It was pretty decent and it does show they are trying to do something different. Will definitely visit again.

found this place as running in forest on marathon training and ran out water. I had no money on me and was gasping for water. and they treated me as a paying customer. very courteous and friendly. I'll definitely return to eat when I'm showered and not in my running kit!! thanks for the water and great service.

Booked a table for Saturday night dinner. Arrived to be pointed to a dark corner in this busy bar. Had to chase staff for a menus, then had to queue at the bar to order the food, and the drinks. This was fish and chips in a pub, not dinner in a restaurant; don't get confused or you will be... More

Visited for a few drinks and partook in prosecco Friday. Always a bonus! The staff really make this pub. Always friendly and chatty. We booked drinks here for June prior to our wedding and look forward to coming back!

Date: 19th March 2017 Time: 1800 Covers: 3 Previously when we have eaten here the food has been good. One of the reasons we used to go back was because of the wide and varied vegetarian selection on offer as one of our trio is vegetarian. Last night the food was up to its usual quality but oh, what has... More

We visited for an evening meal on a Thursday evening,we were the only people eating but there were a few youngsters having a drink in the bar area. The two young men who were serving were delightful, really polite and friendly. We both had a curry which was of a good standard and well cooked. We didnt have room for... More

Description
The Queens Head is situated some six miles from the nearest town in the very picturesque village of Burley, on the edge of the New Forest. We are a country pub with country ways attracting clientele who enjoy seeing the wildlife and variety of animals in the surrounding fields. These include deer, ponies, cows and donkeys. The pub dates back to 1645 and is rumoured to be an old smugglers haunt. This was reinforced when, during a refurbishment, treasures like old pistols, coins and bottles were uncovered here. There is also an alleged underground tunnel running between Burley Manor public house and this one. The front of the building has never been changed and inside has retained original features from at least 100 years ago. With alcoves, nooks and crannies, you can hide away and enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside in the garden during the summer months. This is a lovely old pub frequented by really friendly local characters and passers by alike.
