Really poor food in what was potentially a great pub in a pretty location. Waited ages to be seated, food slow in coming, no flavour - I could not tell whether the burger was chicken or beef although I suspect it was mainly flour anyway...More

I've been coming to the queens head at least twice a week for 6 or 7 years with friends. It has always been a good pub, with decent staff and good food. New owners took over recently and I can't believe the change. Massive waits...More

Quite honestly the worst meal we have had in years. The place must be awaiting the bankruptcy solicitors. Anything that could go wrong did. The meal arrived after an hour, the roasted parsnips missing from my dish, and the roasted butternut squash missing from my...More

I took my wife and daughter for lunch here. My wife chose the bubble & squeak starter. The sauce accompanying this, though quite pleasant, bore no resemblance to Hollandaise: it could best be described as a cheese & parsley sauce. For her main course she...More

We are locals in Burley; and were regulars to the Queens Head. Past year the food has been dreadful and with the new managers service is appalling. We keep going back to "see if it's better" but we it's just wasting good money. I work...More

Description
The Queens Head is situated some six miles from the nearest town in the very picturesque village of Burley, on the edge of the New Forest. We are a country pub with country ways attracting clientele who enjoy seeing the wildlife and variety of animals in the surrounding fields. These include deer, ponies, cows and donkeys. The pub dates back to 1645 and is rumoured to be an old smugglers haunt. This was reinforced when, during a refurbishment, treasures like old pistols, coins and bottles were uncovered here. There is also an alleged underground tunnel running between Burley Manor public house and this one. The front of the building has never been changed and inside has retained original features from at least 100 years ago. With alcoves, nooks and crannies, you can hide away and enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside in the garden during the summer months. This is a lovely old pub frequented by really friendly local characters and passers by alike.
