We called late to see if we could get a table for two on Friday and Saturday evening and although very booked up, we were offered a table both nights at 5 pm which suited us. On arrival we purchased a drink at the bar and live music was on so quite noisy but were then escorted to our table. Service was impeccable and food menu was varied with a good selection of specials also. Food quality was excellent, very hot and presented with care. Afters were just as appetising and looked and tasted amazing. Both nights were exactly the same. Certainly worth a visit if in the area as you eont be disappointed.

We ate at The Village Inn on two evenings and visited for drinks on two other occasions..friendly, helpful staff and great service on every occasion. The food was very good quality, competitively priced and can highly recommend the "luxury fish pie" and the "Pie of the day". Only minor issue was they seem to serve the fish & chips a little more well done than we would prefer. The pub is extremely popular and enjoyed by lots of doggy owners so suggest you book to ensure you get a table. 👍

We recently stayed with friends in the area and spent a lot of time at this delightful, welcoming and friendly Inn. We discovered this family run gem in West Runton through friends of ours and enjoyed the atmosphere, food and drinks selection so much that we made it our base camp for our trip. The food was so good that we ate here for lunch and every evening, sampling as much of the menu as physically possible during our stay. My wife is coeliac and was very well catered for right across the menu and I will forever remember the greatest pie of my lifetime! We met lots of the locals, staff and the lovely family that run it, all of whom contribute to the warm and welcoming environment that is created. The beer garden is one of the best that I have seen and the perfect place to enjoy some great food and sample their impressive drinks range in the good weather that we were fortunate to have during our stay. Looking forward to returning to The Village Inn on our next cross country trip.

We booked for Sunday lunch over Easter as a party of 9. The menu choice was good and most chose a roast Sunday dinner which was exceptional - good value and absolutely delicious !! The service was excellent, friendly and very attentive. We would definitely recommend and would visit again if ever in the area. Thanks for a lovely meal!!

Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. It was difficult to choose from the menu as so many great things on offer. The Scotch egg starter was fab, as were all the starters. All the mains were beautifully cooked and presented with portion sizes just right. My fish pie was delicious. Looking forward to returning to try other things on the menu. There’s obviously been a lot of hard work and care gone into the re opening. A much improved Village Inn 😁

We visited with friends after a day on the beach based on the recommendation of a local friend and we really were not disappointed! I booked as party was originally going to be twelve plus a dog - this was clearly going to be a push but something the staff were willing to accommodate. As it happened we had to change the day (British summertime!) and the numbers and visited two days later with seven plus a dog (three of which were children). The staff are you greatest asset. Those we encountered were only too accommodating of our quirky group allowing their own personalities to shine without the corporate straight jacket you sometimes get. The dog was accommodated inside and the children offered a range of colouring. Three bitters were available and a wide range of standard and special food dishes. We all thoroughly enjoyed the drink and various meals which were adapted to our various tastes without issue. There was a large beer garden which I imagine would be very pleasant for several drinks with friends. I would imagine the car park would get rather tight very quickly on really busy days. Keep up the great work and we’ll sure be back when we next holiday on the North Norfolk coast!

We have been visiting West Runton on holiday for many years. We gave up on The Village Inn a few years ago but we had high hopes that things had improved when we heard that it had changed hands earlier this year (2023). Sadly we were extremely disappointed when we had dinner there in June. I cannot understand the five-star reviews on here. The decor is depressing. The staff were not particularly friendly. The food was mediocre at best and the wine was an absolute rip-off. We had a bottle with dinner and I checked the retail cost online while we were eating as I could not believe how poor it was - the retail cost of a bottle is around £4 (!) and they were charging £25! Go to Krua Thai or The Links Hotel instead or (for lunch) The Corner House Tea Room.

A choice of Sunday lunch options which catered for meat eaters and vegetarians so I could have my plate piled high with chicken, beef and pork and my husband and son could enjoy their nut roasts. Yorkshire puddings for all of us and a well cooked selection of vegetables. Everyone happy and full!

This pub is situated in the heart of the village with a lovely large garden outside which on this occasion was a great sun trap on what was otherwise a nice day but with a chilly wind. It was quiet during our visit being the week before the school summer holidays. We found the staff very friendly and welcoming. There was a good choice of food on the menu, not extensive but I would imagine most people would find something they would like. It was good to see it wasn't just the usual pub grub, and not everything served with chips!! We had a fish pie and crab salad and we both agreed that the meals were excellent. The fish pie consisted of plenty of fish served in a delicious sauce and topped with mashed potato with melted cheese and fresh vegetables. The crab salad was equally as good and in these days of the high cost of eating out we both had plenty on our plates and felt we'd had good value for money. If everything on the menu was of this standard then it would be hard to fault the offerings. With this in mind we did see several other dishes served to other customers and they looked equally as good as ours. As and when we return to West Runton this pub with certainly be our place of choice for eating, excellent.

Recently taken over and refurbished. The new owners are so friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The food was absolutely fantastic, using fresh, local produce. A lovely little hidden gem near the West Runton Coast!

Was recommended this lovely Restaurant, and was so glad we did. We were told to have the Fish Pie as it was outstanding - We didn't, instead choosing Sea Bream and a Vegetarian Curry - we were not disappointed as both dishes were delicious. Finishing off with Sorbet and profiteroles. We overheard another table talking about their Fish Pie being outstanding! May have to return for this dish. Service is just how we like it, consistent but not overbearing. A true gem. Well done to the new owners, your reputation has reached ESSEX.

Enjoyed beers in the garden on a sunny October late afternoon, and also an evening meal in the restaurant. Very welcoming and engaging staff who made us feel very welcome & allowed us to sample the excellent beer before buying. The food was homemade - generous portions and delicious9 we enjoyed the steak pie and fish pie). Excellent service. Easily walkable from the Incleboro Campsite where we were staying. Can get busy so best to reserve a table. Would definitely visit again if we're in the area.

We battled our way through wind and rain on Friday night to find it was packed, all tables taken. We hadn’t booked as we only decided last minute. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, gave us menus, we got a drink and loitered in a corner, and they got us a table as soon as one was available. The food was excellent. I had a lovely vegetable lasagne oozing with feta cheese and my husband was raving about his stuffed, rolled pork. We didn’t have room for pudding but managed to force down a chocolate brownie between us. Unfortunately it was the last night of our holiday but we will be back in the area in June and hope they still have the same chef. The only downside for me is dogs in restaurants, some pubs and cafes have a dog friendly area but not have them in the main area.

Wow!! congratulations to the new owners, chef and staff....The Village Inn is now my favourite local restaurant, we're so lucky this new gem is within walking distance of our cottage. Everything we ate was delicious: shared antipasti, baked crab thermadour and fish and chips and shared chocolate nemesis dessert...simply the best! Charming service, lovely newly re-decorated interior and rather nice plates too!! Can't recommend highly enough, can't wait to come back.

I’d give the service, the beer and the food 4 stars- BUT I can’t do that because I’m vegan and there’s only one item on the menu I can order. Not even a meat free Sunday lunch available. We’re local and would eat here all the time but I don’t want to eat curry for Sunday lunch. I don’t want to always have to eat curry. I can’t be the only one that’s asked? Please chef- please add more vegan options or alternatives to the menu, and please add a meat free Sunday lunch. I won’t come back to eat until there are options. My husband can eat everything and had a lovely Sunday lunch. But I can’t coke back knowing that curry is my only option.
