Delicious fresh seafood served in a really relaxed atmosphere. Great young team of staff that really looked after us well. Very short menu but serving ultra fresh fish, crab, lobster and a few old favourites like salted pepper squid, smoked mackerel pate etc
For the less adventurous they do fish and chips:).
Really recommend it and Great value and you could probably spend a whole afternoon here on a hot summers day with a nice slow lunch and a couple of bottles of wine !

Visited here as we were looking for a seafood lunch and drove past their signage. We were not disappointed. Greeted by friendly staff who found us a table in their conservatory out of the cool wind. A tasty starter of spicy Japanese style squid was followed by crab, perfectly dressed, and served with salad and fries - so fresh and tasty. Lots of other seafood including fresh oysters and a whole lobster for under £30 on the menu.
No real wine list to talk of but two glasses of NZ sauvignon blanc hit the spot.
The bill came to £50 which we thought very reasonable and good value. Hope to return soon!

We are both seafood lovers so during our visit to North Norfolk, we have to sample their seafood and reserved a table for an evening dine-in.
The restaurant is in West Runton, a quiet coastal village and situated in prime location. There is a shop onsite selling t-shirts and wall sea fish pictures.
The restaurant is fresh looking inside, with its light colour timber that brings out the new brick kiln decor. We were so looking forward to our seafood and the lobsters, but alas, lobsters were not on the menu on the night as it was seasonable.
Nevertheless, we were not defeated yet, so we had our fair share of Brancaster oysters and salt and pepper squid, followed by mussels and surf and turf burgers.
We must say that the Brancaster oysters were class and super sweet and the mussels were fat and juicy.
The staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful and really made you welcomed and well looked after.
We both had a lovely meal and were not disappointed despite there were no lobsters that evening. Definitely the place to come for good seafood.
Fab food and service.

Ive been a regular visitor since it opened, but sadly the recent changes to the menu didnt deliver and wasnt up to its previous excellent standards. With prices increasing considerable we expected a better quality, but sadly the fish pie was smaller and less tasty and the mussels, which were very very small, were gritty in a tasteless broth - arriving without a bowel for empty shells and finger bowel. When we asked the waitress about the new menu she said she hadnt tried any of it so couldnt really comment. We both were disappointed as had been really looking forward to its reopening.

Good morning. Thanks for finding the time to write this review we shall take on board your opinions, we would like to point out that our prices haven’t actually gone up at all this year, only one dish has.
Mussels are now coming to the end of the season so they are smaller unfortunately.

We loved Rocky Bottoms when we came before, so were sad after our post Covid return that the quality of the food has dropped. If they are going to charge the high prices they previously justified with great seafood, then they need to serve great seafood again. Otherwise, drop the prices or change the takeaway style menu accordingly. The dishes on offer don't lend themselves to the takeaway box service, with food going cold quickly and becoming soggy and unappealing. One of the female front of house staff was also arrogant and unhelpful, made up for by her male colleague.
I really hope Rocky Bottoms improves as it used to be great, but they won't be able to charge these prices much longer if the quality stays like this

Stayed in Norfolk for a holiday last week and decided to visit this restaurant after seeing the positive reviews.
Can't articulate how disappointed I was with the food. We ordered the garlic lobster (one with fries and one with hand cooked chips). The price came in at £36 which we were happy to pay as lobster is expensive. Unfortunately it was raining so we decided to take the food back to our holiday accommodation (5 min drive away).
When we got home and immediately opened the food bags we were astonished to find the smallest looking lobster I have ever seen resting on top of the palest, limpest coldest chips I have ever seen. 3 bites and the cold, rubbery lobster was gone and I couldn't even eat half the chips as they were inedible. It was clear that the lobster and chips had not been cooked to order (which we would have been happy to wait for), but instead cooked ages before and left under a heated lamp.
We had, after this terrible meal, gone to other restaurants and ordered food to take back to our house at longer distances than Rocky bottoms and the food was better quality, and more importantly, warm.
Stay away from this place and save yourself the money and disappointment

My family and I stayed at wood hill park and would walk the coastal path to west Runton Beach and passed a path through to Rocky Bottoms so thought we would stop and have a bite to eat. We found a table and went to order and the menu looked great. Unfortunately we were bluntly told they’d ran out (2pm on Saturday) which we found odd, so just a drink it was then, however they had also ran out of tonics. On the Sunday the weather was not as good so thought we would head back for some lunch (12:30) We used the same path as the day before where there is a blackboard listing drinks and a flag saying open, again we found a table and my wife went to order, however on this occasion we were bluntly told that we should not have used the coastal path entrance but the entrance off the main road? Where we needed to sign in for track and trace purposes, this was never even mentioned on the previous day. We did as we were told and then queued to place our order only to told in no uncertain terms that they had decided to stop taking orders and try again in an hour. This all may sound trivial but the main point is that the customer service was a total disgrace, they were rude to the point of aggressive and displayed such arrogance to us and other customers which beggars belief? How this business will remain sustainable during this summer and given the increased level of footfall due to COVID only the owners will know but you can be rest assured that I will and have taken my business elsewhere

A review for the Crab Shed or shack or whatever it is they call it as the restaurant is closed without much of an explanation until Monday 21st June. I tried calling in advance to ask if they’re doing pre-orders for hampers as advertised on their website / social media, one number goes straight to a voice message telling you they’re shut and the other number I found ignored the voicemail I left them so I went along in the hope they might have items I could make my own hamper with. My choices were dressed crab and seafood tart, no lobster, no mussels, no cockles, no fish cakes etc etc etc and indefensibly expensive, I know everyone has to make a living but 4 dressed crabs and 2 slices of seafood tart came in at almost £40. Having just looked at local pubs menus online I found I could buy a varied seafood platter to share, served to me and my family at a table for less money? Won’t rush back, a dressed crab is a dressed crab at the end of the day, nothing special about buying it from here and being overcharged which, incidentally you don’t know is happening until the point you pay as there wasn’t prices on anything.

We visited tonight was given a table for two made into a table for three which we accepted but it was in a drafty doorway. We asked to move tables if possible and the waiter said he would check but 10 mins later he hadn’t come back then a waitress asked if we were ready to order. I asked to move and was told there was no other tables although we could see one empty table that needed clearing so we asked if we could sit there but we were told no because it was for a bigger party. I asked why they were holding out for a bigger party as there was no one else waiting (this was at 17.45 and last table advertised as 18.30). This was the first mistake! We waited for some time before they came to take our order we ordered 2 half lobsters with salad and fries at £23.00 and a crab linguine. The lobster was over priced and poor and my fries were in a silver cup thing that wasn’t even full. There was so much lettuce on it it covered over half the plate. To say I was disappointed is an understatement as the service was poor and nobody checked to see if our food was okay or if we needed anything. In fact, when we finished we sat for quite a while as staff went past and no one cleared our plates until I asked for the bill. The total bill was £77.00 for three meals. We raised our concerns before paying for the bill but didn’t really receive any customer care. We had read the place is rustic but there’s rustic and clean and rustic and dirty! There was stuff up the walls, the toilets were absolutely disgusting and filthy - one was covered in faeces. I am also disappointed to see some of the responses to feedback on this site, such as ‘your loss’. This is supposed to be a business and without customers there is no business so please don’t insult customers who leave true feedback as they won’t return and the power of social media will ensure the message travels far and wide.

We were recommended this place and our son was desperate to try lobster so we gave it a go. We arrived soon after opening which I recommend as the day before we had stopped and they were full for food and only taking people in for drinks.
We waited in a line to be seated but the waitress apologised and said they were extremely short staffed. We were seated very socially distanced outdoors which was brilliant and told we could order drinks and then we would be told when we could order food. We thought it might be a long wait but it was only around 10 minutes.
We ordered the platter which had a whole lobster, a whole dressed crab, crevettes, pickled herring and oysters. Served with salad and fries. All was outstanding, particularly the oysters and the crab.
Some people have said this place of expensive but they obviously aren't used to London prices as for the quality and amount of the food we found it excellent value.
Despite being rushed off their feet the staff were attentive and friendly. Really can't fault this place.
The setting is also beautiful. We will definitely be back.

Spending a short “Staycation” in the area and fancying a seafood meal this place came to our attention. It’s lovely and set in an idyllic location on the coast. The food was lovely, a seafood platter, pricey but compared to others we have had was about right. We went at lunchtime, arriving at about 1230, the restaurant opened at midday but was already fairly busy, we were told there would be a short wait for food, we waited an hour…drinks were ordered on arrival. It was A very hot day and apart from some tables under a “Marquee” affair the rest were in the open, no umbrellas or other form of shade available, something the venue needs to address urgently. Having ordered the platter we asked for the wine list, unfortunately no wine was available which spoilt the occasion somewhat as spending a lot on the food it would have been nice to have a chilled white wine, disappointing really and whilst they were waiting for a delivery it didn’t help us. In summary, a lovely venue, lovely staff and lovely food, spoilt by poor organisation and lack of attention to detail, they need to up their game.

We visited Rocky Bottoms twice in a week. The food is outstanding, the staff are friendly and the location is perfect. The food is quite expensive but faultless and we were happy to pay more money for the ambiance. The only thing we’d change is the unnecessarily frustrating and complicated ordering system. An extra step is added where you take a number and wait before you can order. Once you make your order you then hang about or wait at your table and guess when it’s time to pick up your food. They do this to ease pressure on the kitchen, but in reality there’s still the same number of people waiting for food, they’re just a bit more annoyed and can’t relax. Some beers on draught and more toilets would be good too.

Went here 13th April for first meal out since lockdown. Was really disappointed. We had booked in plenty of time, only to arrive and be told there was only 2 meals left on the menu. I understand it was what they catch that day, but to say it was a 5pm booking and was booked far in advance, we would hope they would make sure that they have food other than 2 crab linguine’s and fish and chips left!
It was really overpriced and we had slow service. I asked for no Parmesan on my pasta, for it only to come with. I then had to wait until everyone else had finished eating for mine to arrive. Really limited drinks menu too. For the price it costs (£18ish for something such as a small salad) it really should have a ‘wow’ factor- even heating or the options of blankets would have made such a difference!
Probably won’t go again, which is a shame, as it had so much potential.

Really enjoyed lunch at Ricky Bottoms in lovely garden surroundings. We arrived on a sunny weekday at around 1pm as a walk in, we waited around 20 minutes to be seated, staff were greeting customers on arrival so the slight wait was no issue. We had a seafood platter which was fantastic, excellent quality seafood, beautifully dressed, we found it good value for the quality of the product. Also had desserts which were very good. The staff were friendly and efficient despite a busy service. A highlight of our holiday.

We visited on our holiday after hearing good things. The food was good and serving staff lovely. Unfortunately I won’t return after being very rudely spoken to by a key member of staff.
I went to the inside area and said we had been waiting to ask for a bill I was told ‘you pay at the bar’ I said we hadn’t been told this and had been waiting at our table over 30mins with our 3&5year old getting very agitated to which she replied aggressively, ‘well you should have come to a member of staff or the bar, we’re very short staffed’
We didn’t even know there was a bar as we had only been in the outside tent 🤦🏼♀️😢
Also I asked for a small cup of apple juice for my 3year old it came small but I was charge for a half pint at £2.20 the total meal for 2 adults and 2 small children meals (1 beer) was over £65
