A typical, almost "stereotypical" English village pub, the 'local regulars' at one end of the bar, families eating at tables and a lovely outside garden area with children's play area. Lovely pub all round, brilliant food, lovely atmosphere, suitable for adults and families.

Our first concern when we arrived was that this usually busy pin was very quiet at lunchtime. We need not have worried, a nice welcome, very helpful and attentive start made this an enjoyable lunch. Usual pub menu but with some interesting vegetarian dishes and dishes on the specials board. Very pleasant visit I am sure it will not be... More

Great welcome, wholesome food, nice atmosphere, good local support. Easy parking in quiet area but close to M2 Motorway for London and the rest of the UK. The pub is a simple 20 minute drive from the Channel Tunnel

We eat here quite often and have generally always had a good experience so hopefully this was a one off but.... The pub was freezing with cold radiators and no fire going, staff said they didn't know how to work the heating but would light the fire when they got some wood We ordered a couple of soft drinks while... We went to the Duke of Cumberland for a reception after a funeral. It was about 5 minute drive away from the crematorium. There was plenty of parking. The place had a lovely cosy feeling with a lovely log fire. We had organised food and included in the price was unlimited tea and coffee which was great. The coffee was... More

Took a friend here for supper this evening. French friend was very impressed, typical 'Olde English' pub with nice decor and a nice fire too. Had a very attentive waiter who was very helpful. I ordered the soup, tangy Mushroom, followed by Chicken with vegetables,my friend had Chicken Pate followed by the Pork Belly and my other half had the... More

We were a family of four adults just had a fantastic Sunday lunch, each of us chose a roast option, huge homemade Yorkshire puddings, plenty of meat and mixture of vegetables and lovely gravy. Then onto the homemade deserts which were to die for. Friendly helpful staff who did not rush you but left you to enjoy your food without... More

This should be a go-to pub being as it's situated in a lovely village in an area of outstanding natural beauty - and it would be rated much, much higher if the pricing structure was more reasonable. Used to eat here often, but stopped when the cost became greater than the quality of the food. It's still a great place... More

Stayed overnight here on our way back to France and had our evening meal in the Restaurant, very good food and very reasonably priced. We cannot give an opinion on the desserts as we didn't manage to get that far, but going by the rest of the meal, I have no doubt that they are good.
