We used to come here as a family and so on a trip back home we booked in for lunch. These days the pub is looking really smart and is pleasantly decorated throughout. The food was of a good standard and the staff were polite and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed my Gate burger! This is a great pub and I'm... More

We ordered bread and olives alongside our starters, only to find a huge lack of olives substituted by a copious amount of unspecified pickles! This was followed by pate, which over the entire meal I must say was the superior out of the three courses although average at best. The mains followed and didn't seem to satisfy a single person... What has happened to what was a great pub? After taking the drinks and food order at the table they forget to bring the drinks. Then the starters don't come together and one being the melted Camembert we had to crack on. Then the currys.... Dry as a bone, when the waitress put them down and sees our faces she... More

As I child we came here regularly and it has very fond memories for myself. My friend and I often eat out and decided we would take a trip down memory lane. We booked a table for 12 noon, we arrived at 11.55 and when entering we were told they weren't open and to basically leave! When really the right... More

Booked for the Mother in laws Birthday on a Monday lunchtime. We should have eaten in the bar as they were not busy, but thiswas our fauly not theirs. The service was excellent and the food was great as well as good value for money. The pie was really good and a huge portion and the burgers were excellent. The... More

I visited this pub with my husband and friends after it was recommended to me. It is very charming and just what I would expect from a village pub. The food was good with plenty of choice and the staff were friendly. There is not much parking space and we parked on the main road across from the pub. We... More

This pub has been part of my life for forty years. The refurbishment is great and food very good. My only wish is that the serving staff would look pleased to see you and greet you with a smile. Good customer service as well as good food is essential for repeat business.

Absolutely amazing meal tonight, cooked brilliantly we had the cured meat platter starter, the chicken wrapped in Parma ham and the lamb shank as our mains and a warm chocolate brownie and ice cream pudding, delicious food. Very friendly staff, a good evening all round.

We met my daughter and partner at The Gate Inn as we knew the food would be good and the specials board is always one to watch . 3 of us had The Gate Burger with Stilton while 1 person tried the special pie . The food never lets us down. Well worth a visit if in the area.
