Visited with family and was immediately impressed by the friendly welcome and excellent service. Drinks brought very quickly and subsequent reordering was very prompt. The food was really high quality, our party had five different dishes and all were delicious. Every member of staff went...out of their way to provide a friendly, helpful, courteous and enjoyable experienceMore

As always book in advance to avoid disappointment especially this time of year. Basically we visit Monkeyworld stay all day, go to a B&B book in have a rest then walk round to The Black Bear. In the years we have been doing this there...has never been an issue, Food Service and Beer perfect with different ones to try and have ago rather than your usual. The feel of the place is friendly you don't get a stare from the locals or any negativity when you walk in. The staff warm and welcoming even when busy they are on the ball Simple Don't go anywhere else.More

Staying in a B&B near by and was recommended by our landlady to go there to eat. We called in for a drink and found the pub very friendly so booked for an evening meal. Good quality food, quick service, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and...would definitely go back. Bel and Deb's.More

We called in on the off chance of a table for lunch and certainly weren't dissapointed. Mine host and her colleague were very, very welcoming, quickly seating us and taking our food and drinks order for lager, beer and baguettes. The baguettes were warm and slightly toasted,my wife...had bacon, melted cheddar and mushroom on white,I had bacon, brie and cranberry on brown, both served with chips and a small salad. They were absolutely delicious and generously filled. The price? £20 and a few pence, superb, far better than we'd had the previous day for £20 more in Studland. I would fully recommend the Black Bear. It's a lovely quiet pub with wonderful staff, excellent beers and delicious food. We will definitely visit again when in the area.More

Visited whilst on our way to a holiday park nearby and found we had time for a late lunch and drinks. The staff were friendly and served us when we sat outside. Lots of regulars were welcomed as we sat there and it seemed as...if they wanted to please ....and they did. A location we would return to.More

A 'cold' visit not knowing the area. Struck gold. Wonderful food, great service and beer. Benchmark burger - better than many gastro oubs and london burger joints. Lovely setting. Went back a second time and it was even better! I will remember the Black Bear...to recommend and visit again.More

We attended on 5th August for a late lunch meal for 5 people, the food was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, highly recommend the cheese board and chicken salad dishes. Friendly staff and would visit again.
