There are other things on the menu at La Piece de Boeuf in Monsegur, but doesn't it make sense to order the specialty of the house? While we limit our beef, we looked around and saw that everyone in sight was eating beef. The appetizer...was a salty beefy salad, and it was eye-openingly delicious. Actually, it was enough for a normal lunch. The second course for me was a filet, perfectly cooked, and for my husband, which he said was also perfectly cooked. We drank the house red, a Graves, which we loved, and didn't even have room for the desserts, and they had dome good ones. Even though we don't eat a lot of beef, we appreciate that this was very good beef. Everyone in the restaurant was very kind and helpful to us, service was excellent. For the first time ever in France, two very genteel older ladies told me that I must take my leftovers home in a box! I had always thought this was not done, but evidently now it is becoming more acceptable.More

We’ve eaten at this restaurant a number of times over the years, originally when it was Le Grand Cep, which sadly has been replaced by de Boeuf, as the food is not as good as before. However the location is nice. The food is quite...simple and with no frills, we were not offered bread until our main course arrived, and they were a little upset that we had not made a reservation, despite the fact that they were not busy. Good for a no fuss lunch.More

As home owners in Monsegur, who frequent and spend our hard earned money in all the bars and restaurants, it was so shocking to have witnessed what we did today at lunch time. Although the food, which we did complain about, as the chicken we...both ordered was so over cooked, it was almost inedible (which we did not eat, but still did not receive any recompense for) the lady who served us was sympathetic. However we were witness to another couple (she French and he English, not that it should matter) but when they complained about his burger being cooked not as requested the waiter raised his voice and actually attempted to ask all the other diners if they had an issue with their food! The lady customer (French) was so embarrassed she apologized to us, saying her country folk are still so arrogant! As a very well travelled Irish lady who is open to cultural differences, there is still in this day and age no excuse for pure arrogance and rudeness the like of which i have never seen before. Not many other cultures like, Irish or English food as they perceive it, but i would hate to think that we would ever speak to a PAYING customer in the way that these people and us to a degree were spoken to today.More

Pitched up here at about 2pm and despite being pretty full was welcomed without having a reservation either. A good choice of fixed price menus as well as a la carte. Food was really fresh, portions very generous and service really friendly. Very good value....Will definitely go back.More

We came across this restaurant wandering the streets of monsegur for dinner at 9.30pm as our flight into France had been delayed, we had a hungry toddler with us and in most places the kitchens were closing. We approached a lovely lady front of house...and she was quick to come to our rescue and even made sure our daughter could have something cooked especially for her given that the three course set menu for 25 euro pp (which is an absolute bargain) was aimed for adults. Food was very quick to come out and we couldn’t believe how tasteful and beautifully made our courses were - we were so lucky to come across it and if we do return to the area it will be first on our list. A bientot!More

This restaurant serves excellent food at a reasonable price but the only downside is a very limited choice for the main course

We went for lunch again to this great restaurant last Saturday and again had a fabulous meal in great surroundings and with friendly and helpful service. The food was superbly cooked and of incredible quality and quantity for the price. Very highly recommended yet again.

The food is really good. The service is really good. Sitting inside or outside is really good.I had the fish. Some kind of white fish cooked in a baking envelope delicately spiced and for those who don!t like fishy taste perfect. The steak eaters at...the table all said the meat was terrific one sent back for a re-cook a medium. Wine selection included many local favorites. If I have a complaint it is the chairs. Bring a cushion if your behind gives up the ghost after a time. The owner generally comes by your table to see if are enjoying your meal and seemed genuinely interested in your response. Some translation maybe needed. If you want to sit at the bar next door they will serve you. Sometimes open on Sunday's.More

These premises used to be occupied by an uninteresting restaurant which never tempted us. However, it has now changed hands and been transformed into a great place for lunch and probably also for dinner - we shall be trying it for dinner soon, but we...did have an excellent lunch here a few weeks ago. We sat on the outside terrace watching the world go by. Although we arrived quite late, we were warmly welcomed and quickly seated. We chose the mid-day menu du jour at 15€. Thew starter salad was enormous and garnished with lots of interesting gourmet-style food goodies. The main course was Paupiettes de veau - a large, thickish slice of tender and tasty veal wrapped around a farce-stuffing interior of well-flavoured and textured minced meat. Perfecyly cooked in a tasty sauce, this was the best Paupiette de veau I have ever eaten. The vegetables accompanying were imaginative and delicious. Dessert was an excellent creme brulee. The proprietor to whom we spoke told us that he was the local butcher and that he heloped out in the kitchen from time to time. No wonder the meat was so good. There is an evening menu at €25 with several choices and focussing on meat, especially beef. Service was efficient and very frienhdly. A lovely lunch experience for a hungry carnivore. Highly recommended.More
