Been coming here for years but not been for 18 months or so. If anything it's got better! I had a marvellous glass of cider (they have some of the best guest ciders and perry around) to accompany my scotch egg - amazing. Then I polished off some superb venison with the best dauphinoise potatoes I've ever had! We were... More

This food was delicious and beautiful. The chef is so talented and charming and the staff were friendly and kind. The pub is very olde worlde ...if you remember the 30s and 40s the fires will thrill you. We really enjoyed our lunch here and will return many times. The belly pork was delicious and the creme brullee excellent. Great... More

This is a great pub; cosy real fires and local real ales. There was friendly welcome and good service. Really enjoyed my vegetarian Sunday lunch which was packed full of flavour. The deserts were all tempting but I had the bread and butter pudding which was delicious and simply melted in my mouth. We'll definitely return again soon.

Black Bull Inn is a charming, welcoming place. There are open fires in every room making it so cosy. The staff are really lovely & helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble. My partner & I had a fantastic evening meal there. Good choices, well prepared. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Overall this was a really good find. We will... More

Visited the Black Bull for Sunday Lunch, the staff were friendly and the restaurant was very authentic with log fires burning in every room. We both had top side beef and I can honestly say it melted in your mouth. The meal was fantastic and the Real Ale was very good. We'll certainly be going back again soon. Make sure... More

My son and his wife were visiting from Australia for the Christmas and New Year holidays so his first request was to go back to the Black Bull. The beer did not disappoint so we booked Sunday lunch. It was delicious, the beef was exquisite and the veggies so tasty. To have a fresh Yorkshire pudding was a real treat.... More

We popped in for just a sandwich and staff were really accommodating, squeezing us in although we hadn't booked. (It's really popular, looks like its best to book.) The food was fantastic and really reasonably priced. The pub had a really cosy feel with a fire and the other things on the menu looked great. So glad we stopped here.

Stopped for a pint and a bit food after a group of us did a walk. Landlord supplied our food for a donation and we arrived to a roaring fire as weather outside was very very chilly. Staff were superb, cask ale selection is brilliant and location is picturesque.

I really can't understand the very few negative comments about this lovely oldy worldy pub. Contrary to one of those comments I am not easily pleased but this place never ceases to completely satisfy me. This time I visited with 10 friends. We were all extremely impressed. I had the crab lasagne followed by pheasant then shared cheese and biscuits... More
