I recently visited the Boars Head and it was a great day out for the family. My Sunday roast was perfect in every way and if I lived in long Preston I would go as often as possible. The service was also wonderful. So, this pub is a definite if you are looking for somewhere to eat!

Called in for Sunday lunch after a weekend in Harrogate and delighted that we did. All 6 of us had the roast beef and it fantastic, with great Yorkshire puds and plenty of nice veg. My son and his cousin managed a desert and they were just as good. This is a really nice, traditional pub with great quality food

As we entered the boars head we weren't 100% sure as a family of four. It was perfectly ok, but functional. Concerns were soon allayed by a super relaxed family meal with great quality food and excellent staff. All was clearly home cooked and full of flavour. Pork fillet filled with black pudding and mustard sauce, game pie in red... More

We had Sunday lunch here, we chose it because it was dog friendly, we were made very welcome when we arrived and our order was taken at the table. The food was delicious, particulary the puddings and very reasonably priced, two courses for less than £12 each. I must say our labrador Bailey was made most welcome and other customers... More

Most warmly welcomed by an efficient Barman cum Dairyman cum Shepherd who provided reminiscences of this area in that my wife was raised on a Dairy/Sheep farm not a million miles away (Casterton). Following an almost 200 mile Journey, the 'Timothy Taylors' beer was a welcome refreshment in both quality and price. The evening meals were lovely and the Staff... More

The title of this review is a private joke between us and the barman! We received a warm and friendly welcome, and the barman was very entertaining which added to the enjoyment of the visit. The food was well cooked, well presented and most importantly very tasty. The menu was also quite extensive, along with quite a large selection on... More

Looking for some real ale, the Taylor's Landlord did not come up to expectation but the Tetley's was excellent. On looking at the menu for a starter which was unusual, I spotted the fact that they did a tarted up spam fritter. Well, I will try anything once. However, with this item, never again. Whatever the menu describes it as,... More

open fires, real ales, quality menu - nice change from "Brewer's Fayre" type pub grub - this is more home cooked, Sunday roasts definitely recommended. Very welcoming to visitors and locals alike.
