This spot is a new favorite and tour de force of tasty food!
My wife and I ordered the 1lb lobsters (so glad we didn't go larger on these) and we got half lobster kid meals for the two kids.
What follows is more food than you can possibly fathom because everything other than the main course gets seconds if you want them. They will generously offer to get you seconds after every step in the meal!
We ordered mussels for the table and what seemed like a gallon bucket arrived FULL of them! Dipped in butter they were absolutely fantastic- so much so that we too them up on seconds. And a second bucket came. Holy crap! They won, they won. We finished them but right then and there I felt my value for the meal was already present before the main even came.
And then the desserts were awesome too! We didn't have room for seconds on those!
We will be back and make this a tradition for our future trips to the island! Make it yours too!

Make sure to get to this place early. We got here at 5 and did not have to wait. It opens at 4 o'clock right now. This is a 4 course meal. You start with soup, either seafood chowder or tomato basil and rolls. Mussels are next, then salad, and then the lobster comes out. And then desert.
The tomato basil soup is nothing like La Madeleine in the United States, it is not creamy. It is very much tomato and a lot of pepper, so I did not enjoy it. Also, we did not enjoy the seafood chowder. It was very bland and did not have much flavor.
The rolls were okay, and the salad was just a basic salad.
The star of this meal for us were the muscles and the lobster and dessert. You can ask for a 1/2 bucket or a full bucket of muscles to start. My husband ate 3 buckets; he loved them.
The lobster was good also, and they had already pre -cracked the areas that needed to be cracked. So you did not have to deal with that tool.
I got coconut cream pie for dessert. And it was so good that I got a second one. My husband really enjoyed the raisin pie. And he also got a Strawberry Shortcake, but that was not very good.
You can have as much as you want of anything except for the actual lobster. Also, if you do not like lobster, you can get different dishes like steak or scallops, or just everything else except for the lobster at a less price. We are planning to return. And my husband wants to just get the muscles. And I want to try the scallops next time.

This is an experience and dinner. As previously reviewers said, it’s plenty of food for the cost and a real treat for tourists. You pick your main (protein) and pay before you sit down to eat.
My only complaint is about the kids meals. It wasn’t explained that the kids meals don’t get the same options as adults. One of my kids did get to choose a side like mashed potato or rice. Another kid really wanted to try lobster so ordered the 1/2 lb lobster kids meal. Apparently that doesn’t come with a side so they just had their main protein. The server was lovely and said my kids could try the rolls and our mussels. They did get desserts so all were happy in the end. Just wished it was better explained or I asked more questions before choosing meals.

Food was average at best and over-priced. Surf and turf was 2 bites of lobster and a tough steak. Tomato bisque was bland and slices of pie were small.
View from downstairs was nice but dining room was noisy.
Server was friendly and efficient and rolls were delicious.
Would not go again amd would not recommend - PEI has a lot of better choices for a lobster dinner.

While we enjoyed our overall experience at the New Glasgow lobster supper, some meal items (such as the mussels and the chowder) were quite mediocre.
Excellent menu items were the: Atlantic salmon, haddock, scalloped potatoes, potato salad, rolls, and lemon meringue pie.
The value of this meal is excellent and my party walked away quite stuffed even without ordering seconds.
Our server was excellent and we enjoyed the view of the Pictou.

The food was good - as travellers from across the country we were told that this was the place to go for a lobster supper and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed the excellent appetizers - tomato basil soup, seafood chowder, our first time eating mussels (yum!), the salad plate was excellent especially the coleslaw and salad with vinaigrette. Then of course the lobster, complete with the tourist bib (see pictures). How can one go wrong with a succulent dish like that! Then to top it off I had the lemon meringue pie, my wife the coconut cream-both delicious! Service was good, though at times a little slow, but overall the experience was one we would suggest all travellers should include in their PEI vacation plan

This was more than a meal … it was an experience! The line was long at 4pm when they opened, so we weren’t sure we should stay (back home lines that long signal a 2-3 hour wait), but we dutifully got in line and we’re assured by some locals that it was indeed worth the wait.
We were inside and seated within 20 minutes. This place is huge and they have a large number of (amazing and friendly) staff. In fact, a big tour bus arrived while we were waiting in line and by the time we got inside, we barely noticed.
If you are going here for anything but the lobster, you may be disappointed with the lack of flavour in the food, but you definitely have to try this at least once in your lifetime.
First, you pay for your entree before you are seated (one of us had lobster and one of us had steak). Then you are treated to a multi-course experience starting with seafood chowder, warm rolls, a huge bucket of mussels, and an assortment of salads (potato, coleslaw, green), followed by dessert. You can have seconds of all those things. Non-alcoholic beverages are also included.
The atmosphere is more like a casual wedding inside a hall if you are seated downstairs.
The staff are so friendly and the whole meal (about two hours from start to finish) was such fun. The lobster was sweet and succulent, the rolls were warm and delicious, and everything else was just … ok. Bland but edible.
All in all, it was a fun experience and I’m glad we did it.

Several services, all unlimited (except the main menu), there is something for everyone! The food was very good and the service very good. The services are done over a certain period, which allows you to take a break between each, considering that it is a gray dinner.
We don't go there for the room, which is quite simple, but for the experience. There is a good choice of main dishes, which allows the whole family to eat and not just lobster.

If you are looking to experience a community dinner this is the place to go. The food may not be the highest quality, but there is a lot, and it's a good place for people who are unsure to try lobster and mussels.
The general feeling of the space is that not much has changed from when they first opened in 1958, the food style, and serving style is the same, it's a place to eat and talk with friends or family.
the bread has a reputation of being some of the best rolls in the area and they didn't disappoint. The wait staff were willing to help tie bibs on for anyone who wanted the help.
All members of my party had the 1lb lobster option. The shells come to the table pre-cracked which helped first timers get into the meat without too much hassle.
It's a large community hall so could get loud at times but didn't prevent us from having an enjoyable experience.
It's a fixed price menu which can be easier to budget than other places that use market pricing.

Skip all the fancy shmancy seafood restaurants and eat here. All you can eat chowder, salad, bread, mussels, and a nice size lobster for around 40 bucks a person. Also, all the dessert you can eat! Crazy good food, nothing fancy but very good and satisfying. They have been feeding people this way for almost 60 years! Great experience!!!! Go early, 4 to 5 p.m. to avoid line up.

My wife called in the morning to make a reservation. We were told that a party of seven cannot book a reservation because they don’t book reservations for less than eight people. We were recommended to arrive early and that it gets busy typically at 5:30pm. As suggested, we decided to show up at 5:00pm to avoid the rush. When we arrived, we were told that they didn’t have a table big enough for us available and that we would have to be split up. As a family of five with three girls aged 12, 10 and 7 and two grandparents, we wanted to stay together. To eat together as a family, we were told we could wait at the bar or come back later. We asked when and were told that they couldn’t tell us. We were recommended to come back at 5:45 to try again. I let the woman we were dealing with know that we tried to make a reservation earlier (which would have avoided the situation) and she said sternly “we don’t take reservations for less than eight people”. I let her know that I’d include that in my online reviews. This individual showed no empathy at this moment and immediately turned her back to us and walked away. We came back at 5:40 and there were no tables available. This time, we decided to wait at the bar. We waited a full hour to be seated; families with young children know that this is far from an optimal situation. The eight people rule for reservations seems arbitrary to me and the fact that they wouldn’t accommodate our family of seven with a reservation was extremely rigid; a little bit of flexibility could have avoided our dissatisfaction regarding the reservation process and prevented the long wait for our family. This brings me to the second part of this review. Our waitress was really nice and I believe she tried really hard, but the restaurant was clearly not staffed adequately for the amount of people that were eating (it was overcrowded and very noisy). When we were finished, it was 8:36. We had spent two hours and fifty six minutes since arriving the second time. In between, we waited about a half hour for mussels, another half hour for a water jug refresh, and so on. In conclusion, the food itself was fantastic, but I still managed to leave with a foul taste in my mouth. Not only did this overall experience disappoint me enough to write this review, but it also directly affected your bottom line; we didn’t buy any drinks and I downgraded my intended meal by around twenty dollars (the ham was really good, though lol). My rating is reflective of a five for food and a one for overall experience (rounded down for obvious reasons). If these management/policy decisions are not changed so that people can reasonably make a reservation and more staffing is hired, I would recommend that if you are a party of six or seven, reserve for eight and say that one or two didn’t show up. You’ll be much more satisfied with your experience.

This classic venue from 1958 is a staple lobster supper venue.
This time of year there is no lineup and tables to spare.
It has been decades since my last lobster supper to bottomless muscles was a sweet appetizer for the lobster later.
The buns come warm, the butter is soft, the mussels are still warm and plentiful, the salad it just salad. The lobster comes hot or cold depending on what you like - it almost had a sweetish flavour. Oh, don’t forget dessert and coffee.
Better come hungry and not dressed in your tux as you may get a little on you in the fray.
Enjoy the classic PEI attraction.

Food was okay but service was terrible. We chose this location to avoid the hassle of managing a buffet with two little ones. But it ended up being torture for all of us as we waited 15-20min between courses and our server was nowhere to be found for drink refills, etc. Was not expecting to be there over two hours - no wonder there was a line out the door. Would not attempt it again.

We showed up right before 4 and there was a decent line, but we were seated in less than half an hour. Our server, Jillian, was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The price offers great value, including soft drinks, 4 courses, and coffee/tea with dessert. The scallops were the highlight of the night, but scalloped potatoes were very watery and other vegetables didn’t have much flavour. The presentation of the lobster was nice, but it was slightly over cooked and chewy. The mussels and deserts were all great and the fresh rolls were absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back! 5/5 for the service and atmosphere, but 3/5 for the food.

Lobster supper in this place is once a week on Sundays. For those who doesn’t know what it is, you have a preset menu. At the entrance you choose the size of your lobster and pay for this. All the other courses except for the drinks are included. For your drinks you pay separately to the waiter. So, the dinner starts with soups and mussels, then follows by salads, then lobsters and deserts. There is a good choice of the deserts.
The place is huge. Dinner starts at 4.30 p.m. We arrived at 4.55 p.m. and were surprised by the number of cars at the parking lot. I was afraid, that there will be not enough room to sit us, but we got the table right away. At 5 p.m. the tour bus came and the people who came after were less lucky than we are and had to wait, but they were eventually seated as those who arrived by the opening, were finishing and leaving. It is quite a quick service due to preset menu.
The food is great, my husband had chowder and asked for a second portion. I had tomato soup. Both were very good. For the salads, you get a plate with a garden salad, a scoop of potato salad and a scoop of coleslaw. Everything was great. The hit of the dinner is the lobster, we ordered the smallest one as there is lots of other food and we want to try the deserts as well. We made a right choice. For deserts I had a lemon meringue pie, which was great, and my husband had a blueberry pie. You can add an ice-cream to your pie if you want, but he didn’t.
Will highly recommend this place.
