Very welcoming relaxed country pub , dog and children friendly with really good home made food . Even the childs bolognese was a proper Italian recipe , the roast beef , pasta and puddings - all straight forward and top quality - you won't find a better pub in a beautiful village with great walks.

Lovely old pub in this village, smart decor and comfortable eating areas. Sunday roast was very good with plenty of beef or lamb, disappointing were the selection of vegetables. Roast potatoes were very small, four pieces on my plate, mashed carrot and most unusual, a roasted mix of peppers, courgette and two whole cloves of garlic in small dishes not... More

I have to disagree with the most recent post regarding the lasagna's served at this lovely pub. I thought that the vegetable lasagna was so delicious, i have asked if they would kindly let me have the recipe. I visited with my Husband, Mum and Dad and our two Labradors, the welcome was warm, our waiter was lovely :) the... More

Hello and thank you for your review. I am so happy you appreciated our lasagna. I think the couple who wanted a Yorkshireman's portion should have ordered the steak and ale cobbler! I hope you have received my recipe and that you can follow it! As I said, it all depends on what vegetables are in season, so it's never... More

We visited the Royal Oak having not been for some years. It's a cosy old pub but with smart decor and a roaring log fire. We had a warm welcome when we arrived and the service throughout the meal was very good. We were very happy with our starters, but quite disappointed with our main courses. This pub is unusual,... Your quote ‘Some bubbling cheese poured over might have added some authenticity!’ Well this just makes me realise you have never had a proper Italian lasagna. Authenticity! I have lived 14 years in Tuscany and 9 in Rome, and never ever have I seen an Italian pour bubbling cheese over any pasta dish! Your review comes on the same day... More

We visited as a family at a weekend. The owner and staff could not have been more attentive and friendly adding to a delightful atmosphere. The food is good with plenty of gluten-free options.

Went for lunch. Good menu and additional specials. Food was excellent. Best onion rings ever!! Limited selection of beer but well kept and enjoyable. Great place to go if you are walking in the area or visiting Nunnington Hall. Seating inside and out and dog friendly throughout.

It's a balmy summer Tuscan evening and you're wandering through a quiet hill town deciding where to eat. As you turn a corner, you're assailed by the unmistakable scent of Yorkshire puddings cooking in beef dripping. OK. Now reverse that image. It's a parky winter evening and you're nithered. You're in search of some snap after a long day on... More

We were staying at a nearby airbnb and the owner recommended this pub amongst others, particularly as we had a dog with us. The food was great, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and Andy the landlord looked after us brilliantly. Our son loved the bar billiards and retro space invaders game too. We loved it so much we came back... More

Last week 28 of us went for our annual New Year walk and lunch. This year our walk was in the beautiful countryside around the lovely village of Nunnington and we followed our meal with lunch at The Royal Oak. We chose to have a 3 course Italian meal and we began with very generous sharing plates of antipasto (Italian... More

Description
A traditional country pub in pretty village of Nunnington. The new owners have just returned from Italy and their aim is to blend Yorkshire fare, using locally sourced produce with products from known farmers in Tuscany. They hope to achieve 'where Yorkshire meets Tuscany' with appetising sharing plates and dishes of the day using seasonal produce. They wish to continue serving local beers to the regulars and have a well selected wine list.

Family Sunday lunch times (Two courses £14.95 And Three courses £17.95).
