Because we had a terrific meal last year, we were adamant to return. Having just come off the MV UChuck III (boat) we were very keen to check Sea and Field Bistro out again. We were not disappointed: we had lovely appies and a number...of mains that we could share. It was the last few meals of the season, so the selection was a little less than last year, but the waitress (who was amazing) was transparent and accommodating. Overall service was excellent and the food outstanding. The facility was clean and the interior very appealing. People from all walks of life were dining with us. Very pleasant atmosphere in a beautiful setting. We will be back!More

Everything was super fresh and flavorful. My husband and I had a cup of fish chowder that was excellent. Then we shared the charcuterie board and the rockfish cakes that were also excellent. The restaurant sources most of their ingredients locally and prices were reasonable...for the quality. Sea and Field is a true gem in such a small but beautiful community.More

This restaurant was a major, positive, surprise. Excellent choice of food; lovely quality; nice waiters; great setting. This restaurant started at this location a few years ago. Apparently, the owners had experience running a restaurant elsewhere and chose this remote location on the West of...Vancouver Island. Totally worth it. We will be back!More

We were doing a site visit and after we were done we needed lunch. This Bistro caught our eye on the way in so on the way out we stopped. The service was friendly and the menu had lots to offer. I choose the Caesar...salad and the Rueben. The Caesar salad was delicious and the Rueben was also very good. Very good lunch overall.More

Even with the 2022 staffing challenges, Sea & Field Bistro delivers great service - and great food. They are busy - reservations are highly recommended. Their Caesar chick wrap was amazing, warm chicken and ample applewood smoked bacon - so glad that I had it...with a Caesar salad as well. Their pizzas are made with a flat bread vs traditional pizza dough.More

We went twice for dinner this past week. Menu was pretty broad and catered to vegans and carnivores alike. Prices were appropriate and ingredients were fresh and well-selected. Service was good and earnest. Decor was better-than-average for pretty small-town Canada. Absolutely no complaints; just lots...of applause for a small establishment with a lot of ambition and a very good attitude. Wine selection was very modest but what they offered worked quite well with the dishes we selected. Dessert list was seemingly freshly prepared and the options, as with the entrees, made final selection difficult (always good to have a dilemma when dining).More

We were two senior ladies who recently dined at Sea&field Bistro. We were welcomed by Lisa, the hostess and spouse of the executive chef, with a bottle of chilled water at our table. The menu is varied and uses locally available produce. We shared a...huge salad (feta, beets, candied nuts, greens, house dressing) and ordered separate entrees. The ingredients were top quality. (I measured the creamy feta by the same cheese available in Greece.) For dessert we chose the creme brulee made with local, coastal grapes. My bill for wine, salad, entree and dessert was $38 plus tip! The service was efficient and friendly. The decor is minimalist. But don't miss the bathroom...there is room for a whole Brownie Troup or busload of seniors. This dining experience was the perfect ending to an adventurous day of touring. If you go to Gold River, go to the Sea&field, and consider making a reservation if your heart is set on this dining extravaganza.More

We stopped for lunch here after reading reviews online. What a fantastic experience! We were going to get take away as we were travelling with our dogs, but the owner told us the space out front of the restaurant (separate from the patio area) was...dog friendly so we sat there. We ordered the clubhouse with Caesar salad and a large bowl of seafood chowder. The food was excellent. Flavourful, fresh and made in house. The owner was so kind and even brought each of our dogs a full piece of thick cut bacon! What a nice touch. There was also a young lady serving and she was friendly and efficient. This was a perfect spot for lunch and I would go back again and again!More

In such a remote location you think you were in the big city. Lots of options , clean venue, friendly service but more importantly really good food.

Went for a drive and ended up in Gold River. Happened across this little gem and stopped in for lunch. Top marks for value and quality of food...new building, great service and enough on the menu to make choosing difficult. Our selections were delicious and...well presented. I can't remember when I last had a club with 2 thick slices of real turkey and 3 thick o slabs of crispy bacon, plus the caesar salad that came with was delicious. The bowl of chowder was definitely a full meal with grilled foccasia. We only wish we had room for their desserts! We recommend the Bistro highly- you won't be disappointed. Well done to the Staff! We'll definitely be back...More

After returning from the overnight trip to Kyuquot on the Uchuck 3 we had a wonderful meal and experience at this restaurant. The menu is outstanding and the food is beautifully prepared and served by helpful, friendly staff. Our evening was very special because as...we got out of our camper we realized that the keys were still inside the van. Oh no, what do we do now? Lucky for us, Lisa, owner of the Sea&Field took over and posted our problem on the Gold River Community site and several people gave suggestions. She phoned around and found someone to come to the restaurant with the knowledge and equipment to get our vehicle open for us. We can't thank her enough for her kindness and will be returning to this fabulous restaurant for another great meal. Thanks Lisa, Gold River is lucky to have you.More

We visited this friendly, fresh, clean & modern bistro for just a hot drink as we were visiting the area. Well we were not disappointed as I was tempted to share one of the establishments homemade cheesecakes with my husband. Why, oh why, did I...decide this, as it was definitely the best cheesecake I have ever tasted and greedily I should have kept it entirely for myself! The staff were friendly & helpful with advice about sites to visit in the area. Thank you to the staff for making us welcome! Just glad I live a very long way away, as I would very quickly put on too much weight because I would regularly buy their various cheesecakes & a variety of their other delicious looking foods.More

We are still so stunned about this little gem in Gold River. It's truly amazing! The food was fantastic (try the Reuben Sandwich), the cider delicious and cold. The service (I believe it was the owner herself) made us feel welcome and gave great tips...for the surrounding. We hope to visit again once we're in Canada again. This little bistro is worth the trip from Campbell River, let alone the stunning surroundings.More

Not a big menu range but high quality local food, that was extremely tasty and well cooked. Very friendly staff. Good value too. A real find in this remote part of the island. We heartily recommend it.
