Offered olives & bread. Accepted & a small bowl of unripened, hard olives arrived at £3.50! Forgot the bread. Soufflé starter which was average. French onion soup starter...cold, too watery & uninspiring. Roast chicken & watery Boeuf Bourginon for mains...both below average again. Eton Mess for dessert...quite the mess! Plus... Slow service by a waiter who was half asleep. Will... More

The meal was lovely but the bill included 2 bottles of wine instead of 2 glasses. The unapologetic female manager redid the bill and carefully drew attention to the amended 2 glasses of wine. On closer inspection, only one bottle of wine had been removed so the bill had to be redone again. Was this unbelievable incompetence or an attempt... More

I was off on a mountain climbing expedition so booked a table for 5 here for lunch with the family before I needed to be at the airport. I confirmed the booking the day before. When we arrived, there was no record of the booking & no table available for us. Eventually we were given a table for 4 with... More

Visited for lunch, feb 13th 2017. Set 2 course lunch is value but limited choice restaurant decor is tired. Menus dirty. A lack of attention to detail. Ok for the price for a quick lunch but wont be in a hurry to return with such alot of choice in the area.

Decided to try after a recommendation by our close friends, and not disappointed! So we arrived on a very busy Friday evening. And got a comfortable booth at rear. Was warm and clean. We were greeted straight away by our waiter and offered drinks. The house red we chose was fab! Followed by delicious garlic prawns. And a handy finger... More

We have visited this restaurant several times before and have always experienced good food and service. Tonight our waiter NAMEEN notched up our opinion of this place to a new level. He is a fantastic waiter with a genuine heart for offering great customer service. He is an asset to Cafe Rouge. LOOK AFTER HIM! We recommend the T Bone... More

We are local regulars at the Loughton restaurant for good reason. The staff are ALWAYS charming and accommodating and because of that, it feels like a real home from home. The food is excellent as is the house red, which is my connoisseur partner's favourite! All in all, we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
