We ate up on the L1 balcony, recommended. view is to die for. Though you do have to climb up and down the stairs a lot. I feel for the waiting staff. Good menu selection although they had run out of our first choice, the platter for two. So they gave us a complementary raw fish marinated in coconut milk... More

Kotare Bistro. Laid back atmosphere with great views and fantastic food. Service was excellent too. Took a seat upstairs which on a clear day would be amazing, weather today was crappy but still nice views of the water. Had a prawn cocktail and seafood platter for two, delicious.

We went for dinner. Had to sit upstairs given it was Friday night, and the bar was full. Food was pretty good. Service average. Prices expensive. No wifi. We won't be back.

Now also known as Kotare, this was our first visit and a surprisingly good one. The position is perfect, upstairs with a deck right on the water's edge. Ours was a winter visit and though we still enjoyed the deck, I can imagine it rocking in summer. We shared the tempura prawns, salt and pepper squid and the steak with... More

I asked for a prawn cocktail with the sauce on the side. The prawns arrived covered in sauce! They'd run out of prawns so couldn't do another, so I was unable to eat the dish. However, the staff and the main course were excellent and the view from the deck at sunset was stunning, along with listening to kids enjoying... More

Easily the best view from an Orewa restaurant. We all chose the fish and chips which were very good and served quickly ( they dealt well with gluten allergy ) Casual, friendly, surf club atmosphere. Fair selection of wines and beers.

Sunday breakfast,9.30am, Bistro had run out of:- focaccia bread, Beans, Muesli, breakfast sausages, fruit toast and eventually fruit juice. Meal arrived after 25 minutes, what we got for $36.00 was 2 overdone fried eggs and bacon on a soft, unbuttered luncheon roll. As we had arranged for our friends to join us we were very disappointed with not being able... More

Just come back from having breakfast here, at 9.30 in the morning most items were off the menu because they had "run out". This included: baked beans, muesli, orange juice, pineapple juice. So we ordered bacon and eggs on a focaccia bread. Waited 40 minutes and received a white hotdog roll with 2 fried eggs and 2 strips of bacon.... More
