Ichigo Ichie is located in a strip mall complex on the southeast corner of No. 5 Road and Steveston Highway. We arrived around 11:45 on a Thursday and the restaurant was empty except for us. By 12:30 there were 11 people. We ordered the following:...• Tako wasabi ($4.45) - marinated chopped raw octopus pieces served with a quick pickle and nori sheets. Tasty dish. Restaurant also serves takoyaki - deep fried octopus balls. We decided on trying the new dish instead because I have never seen a similar dish at other restaurants. • Chicken karaage (5 pieces for $5.95) - served with mayonnaise. The chicken pieces were lightly floured resulting in crispy & moist pieces. • Mayu ramen ($11.95) - bean sprouts, green vegetable, kelp, deep fried garlic, cha su and 1/2 egg served in a slightly spicy pork broth. I’m not a ramen expert but the broth was flavourful and had a slightly spiciness in the background. • Shoyu ramen ($10.95) - cha su, green onion, ½ soft boiled egg, Naruto maki (fishcake), spinach and shiitake mushroom served in soy sauce infused broth. My spouse enjoyed the ramen. With taxes, the meal came to $34.97 before the tip. Ratings Breakdown • Quality and taste - good • Portion size vis-à-vis price – Pricing is competitive and portion size is good. • Service - generally good. Food arrived very quickly. We had to ask for tea refills. The lunch was enjoyable and rates a 3.75 out of 5 rating – good. Notes and Tips • Choosing your ramen bowl is a 3 step process - choose type of bowl - spicy, shoyu, shio, etc., broth base (pork, chicken or vegetable) and lastly the protein – pork (cha su), chicken or vegetables. You can add extra items such as extra noodles and egg. • Limited sake and beer choices • Complimentary tea • Seating for about 20 at tables and another 6 at the counter. • Korean owned restaurant with a Japanese cook • Strip mall parking • No wifi • Wheelchair accessible washroom • See Facebook and internet for additional information • We went to Afuri ramen + dumpling about 6 weeks ago during their grand opening at the beginning of January, The ramen was above average but expensive with ramen bowls in the $16 range. See my review. • Other food options in the area include 2 pho restaurants, middle Eastern, burger places including 5 Guys, Burger King. McDonalds and 2 Japanese sushi restaurants to name a few.More

It is a small outlet but well managed.Seating space is comfortable.A few steps to pick your ramen from a small piece of paper where you are asked to cross your choices.First choose the flavor ( pork, chicken or vegetable).Next chose your soup, meat (pork/chicken) or vegetable.Then...pick your choice of meat ( pork/chicken) or vegetable. Then tick whatever additions you want, a variety of choices like karage, additional soup etc.I chose the mayu ramen (spicy) and an additional dish of gyoza ( 3 pieces). The hot bowl of ramen was delicious and especially so during a cold autumn night! Service was friendly and efficient.Ample car parks.More

Comfortable atmosphere, and there are a lot of room between tables. Chicken karaage tastes great, but gyoza is below average because the bottom is not even close to crispy. Ramen is only mediocre because the stock tastes pretty much like instant noodle except without the...MSG. I mean, it’s really hard to make a pork stock that you cannot taste any pork flavor at all. As for their service… well, they didn’t greet us when we came in, didn’t refill our tea, and ignored us when we raised our hand even though we were only 10 feet from the waitress. My friend had to walk to the waitress and asked her to refill our tea. The best part was, when the waitress came over, she only refilled my friend’s cup even though my cup was half empty.More

I have been eating cheap jome-cooked ramen noodles since university days. It is still a go to home meal for me and our older kids when we are in a rush. I have always considered ramen noodle soup to be a high-salt semi-toxic dish. If...I order it in a Japanese restaurant, it is usually a minor side dish. Lately, there have been a trend of new ramen noodle houses springing up all over town, giving the ubiquitous pho a run for the money. Ichigo Ichie is tucked behind the Bank of Montreal in a small strip mall at No.5 and Steveston Hwy. My family likes to come to this mall for cheap eats. There are different restaurants serving schwarma, burritos, pho (see, I told ya) and west coast food in the same mall. The ramen is good here, but then I am comparing it to the cheap crap I buy at Safeway for a buck a pack. There are only five versions. The noodles are all the same. The difference is the broth and the toppings e.g. seaweed egg etc. There are some side dishes, like fried chicken karagge, gyoza and marinated squid which were all very good. They have some sauces and an all you can eat pot of garlic on the table. The food looks and tastes good. . The place is not all that big. It is basically an open box with tables. I found it overly bright. There is one large flatscreen facing outward towards the front door with nothing but repeated shots of their noodle soup. Nobody can see it anyways. They are tucked in the back of the mall. They should move it to one of the bare side walls and show the Canucks game. I woild recommend. It is cheap and is a nice change from phoMore

First time here, it is a small ramen house in a small strip mall by Ironwood. I found this place through google, I am going to Canadian Tire si might as well try this Ramen house since this is in the same area. The place...was quite empty when i got in, since it is Monday night. Ambience is ok, The Menu is very simple, only five choices for Ramen, and also some side dishes and i think 4 small rice choices, which I didn’t pay much attention since i went there for thier ramen and also some alcoholic beverages, I ordered the miso ramen with pork chashu. It have a nice good smell of the miso and garlic flavor of the broth and the ingredients. It was tasty and flavourful, i really like the combination of soybean paste, green onion, bean sprouts, seeweed and shiitake, there were 2 slices of pork and half boiled egg. It was good but not the best ramen. But if asked if i will come back, I will comeback for sure if i crave for some ramen. My favourite Ramen house are in Vancouver, The Ramen Butcher in Chinatown and Taishoken Ramen in Tinseltown area.More

Three of us went to have Ramen at Ichigo Ichie today and it sure was good! Ordered it with the pork belly, green onions and garlic, and at a reasonable price to boot. It's a small place in part of a small strip mall and...easy to get to with lots of parking at 11:30 am when we got there. Would go back here for sure!More

Visited for the first time with my brother for lunch. The restaurant is small, so it can get busy. We got there for lunch around 1:30pm and got a table with no problems. I ordered Ramen with Miso soup and Pork. Flavourful without any fancy...pretensions. Lovely meal. Will make ti a point to return with friends.More

We were looking for late ramen and we stumbled upon this small place in the Richmond outskirts. The place was small and had but a few tables but it was clean and new. The ramen was much better than expected. The chicken karage was a...very pleasant surprise. Next time, we're close, we'll be back.More

I’ve been touring around different Ramen shops around Richmond and Vancouver and have to say I was really pleased here. I came in early and was quickly seat (the place filled up fast). I ordered the Mayu Ramen and the Karaage. Both came quickly and...were hot fresh from the kitchen. The Karaage was juicy and flavourful.....darn perfect! The Mayu had a tasty full flavoured Tonkotsu broth that was just perfect in spicy/garlicky flavour! The noodles were perfect, firm on the first bite but softened to the perfect place as the meal went on. The only comment I have is that the water cup and tea cup are rather small and was never offered more water or tea until I had completely finished my meal and was ready to pay. That’s a simple fix and I would certainly go back for the soup! Check this place out!More

Food wise is above average. Service is below average only one waitress and the same cashier. Can you imagine if full house what are they going to do. Saving cost for the sake of the owner???
