We had another wonderful evening at Steveston Seafood. We had requested our favorite table when we made our reservations. We had a wonderful semi-circular table for 2. We were in a good location in the restaurant and could see all the activity but we were isolated and had total privacy. Our waiter, Aaron has been our server on previous visits to Steveston Seafood and he is one of the best waiters we have ever had to good fortune to be served by. Water and a nice basket of warm bread with butter was brought to our table while we looked over the menu. We were trying to make a decision between 2 bottles of wine. We decided to go with the wine from a winery that we are familiar with. Aaron happened to overhear us discussing the wine and he offered to let us try the other wine for the same price. If we did not like it he would bring us the wine we were originally going to order. We did enjoy the new wine. It was a nice way try something different. For an appetizer we shared the calamari with chipotle aioli. The calamari was very tender and it was very good. I asked Aaron about the wild salmon as it was cajun with shrimp and tomato and I was concerned that it might be dry. Aaron said that there should be no problem. It was overcooked and I decided to return the dish. My husband also tried my dish and he agreed that it was a bit dry. Aaron took the dish back to the kitchen. I had the sablefish with miso and sesame seeds instead and it was amazing. The fish was very tasty and perfectly cooked. My husband had the same dish and we both enjoyed it immensely. Aaron charged me the price for the salmon even although the sablefish was more expensive. For dessert we had a raspberry semi fredo. Aaron comped our dessert for us. It was nice and light and a perfect way to end our evening. After we paid our bill and left Aaron came out the door as we left and thanked us for our patronage. I have to say that he had 3 other tables that he was serving and they all received the same care and attention to detail that we did, so we did not receive preferential treatment. Steveston Seafood is one of our favorite restaurants. We always have such a wonderful night out when we go. Steveston itself is such an interesting community to walk around and explore.

Pleasant meal and overall experience with family. Wanted to go to a seafood place with my nephew and his wife were visiting from Toronto. The menu sure had lots to choose from and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. My bass which was the whole fish was a nice change from my usual selections and did not disappoint. The service was pleasant and the atmosphere quiet which made for good conversation. My only negative observation was the price ($360 with tip for four people) which seemed on the high side given that we only had one drink each? Would go back again however as everything seems expensive these days.

THE GOOD: A landmark restaurant serving fresh seafood catch and a wide assortment of other dishes. Service is good and everyone had good intentions to provide a good meal, atmosphere was great for our family get-together. THE BAD: my fresh wild salmon was overcooked, my scallops were a disgrace, very overcooked and flavourless, my siblings also had to send their lobster tails and salmon back. THE UGLY: I don’t agree with an 18% mandatory gratuity. Especially when things like above happen, a gratuity should reflect the customer’s experience, It is not the customer’s responsibility to supplement ownership’s payment to staff. If you can’t survive with an 18% markup on your menu prices, you can’t stay in buisness, sorry, it’s economics. The restaurant was proud of themseves for providing 3 free desserts for the table as a remedy but I would have preferred to have my salmon removed from the bill, for two reasons, I am diabetic and cannot eat sugar, two, I was not consulted whether that was an adequate remedy. Even when I went to pay the bill, I gave stark criticism about my food experience and nothing more was done. The next morning as I write this, I regret choosing Steveston Seafood House as the place to eat fresh seafood.

We booked as it rated as the number 1 restaurant in Steveston. Oysters and the shared appetizer platter was great . As was the French 75 ( actually it was amazing) so was the wine . Main course, hubby’s Schnitzel with all the seafood was outstanding . My duck was so over cooked to the point it was hard and inedible. They refined another one. So hubby ate very slowly so I wouldn’t be sitting there eating with him finished . Refired duck came out , undercooked and sinewy but I ate what I could rather than spoil a night out . Quite surprised we weren’t even comped an espresso! Disappointing experience.

This is a very quiet plain-looking seafood restaurant that we found a bit overrated and outdated but has outstanding plating/presentation. We booked on OpenTable for my birthday. It was our first time here. We requested a table close to the door because my disabled elderly father can't walk far. They must not have read the note and sat us at the far side of the restaurant. They also didn't acknowledge my birthday in any way. Some of the food presentation is beautiful. That's the one thing that makes this place stand out. At first they served a bit of bland bread with plain butter and I think this definitely could be kicked up a notch or two with a fish oil balsamic dip and/or garlic butter. As far as flavour, the oysters rockefeller was amazingly tasty. They were small oysters, but packed a punch of flavour. The scallop appy was a bit rubbery and not that flavourful. We had char and blackened salmon main dishes which were OK. The salmon wasn’t blackened in my opinion and was bland, needing some flavour but looked great! The baby tomatoes were very tasty. The meal sizes were small but looked big and very colourful. Service was OK. Later, I used the ladies washroom and wasn't impressed with the cleanliness and urine smell. It definitely needs a detailed scrub in all the crevices and grout, etc. If they want to maintain a specific calibre of clientelle/image, they must clean things up. Will we go back? Not likely. We've had much better seafood and celebration experiences elsewhere.

There’s no way to properly describe our “meal”. My drink was way off balance and I felt like I had a glass Of cheap vodka (not Ketel one). Our scallops in bacon were pretty decent although the sear was a little lacking… but it went downhill from there. Calamari wasn’t cleaned and we ended up with a long piece of cartilage that was missed. Filet mignon with pacific crab…medium rare. We received blue rare (maybe even a bit less than blue rare) and when we confronted the waitress (she was sweet though). The chef didn’t fire new steaks…but threw these back in the pan. Now for you and I, that doesn’t make a difference… But it’s grounds to have a restaurant close it’s doors from the health and safety officers. It should’ve been thrown away and restarted once a plate touches the table, it never goes back in the kitchen. Unfortunately, when the steaks arrived back to us… there was a new problem. The chef/owner never let the steaks rest and because of that, the béarnaise sauce was watery as hell and it up being a bloody mess on the plate. We could’ve used a desert bowl for all the blood and juice So after all of this is said and done… Did the restaurant comp our meal for all the problems? Did they offer us 20% off our bill or even offer us free desserts? No… Handed us a bill for almost $200 as if everything was fine

To be honest, I am utterly stunned that this is considered one of, if not the top rated restaurant in Richmond. The three of us made a reservation yet got the run around after refusing a table in the busiest section of the restaurant (despite it being only 25% occupied at the time). Our server, who clearly lacked any serving skills, had to redo both our drink (2X) and food orders after finding out our selections weren't available. The food which was priced as premium fare was generally substandard and included goopy over-dressed caesar salads, an unimaginative, bland and rather skimpy appetizer platter and mains which were nearly inedible and bizarrely concocted. At $85 a head for one appy, one main, one bottle of wine for the table and a single dessert to share, this experience was wildly off the mark and nowhere close to what was expected. You could visit any Richmond hotel dining room or chain restaurant like Cactus Club, the Keg etc and get a way more satisfying meal for much less served to you by staff that have had at least some F&B training. Bottom line, we kind of feel like suckers. Don't let the dazzling photos on review sites and social media fool you too.

We had a very disappointing brunch experience at this restaurant. The seafood which should be their specialty was watery (as in previously frozen), tasteless, and not presented as described. Attentive service was lacking as there didn't seem to be enough staff. Our server Annie did make some adjustments to our bill to reflect our dissatisfaction, which we appreciated. We would not return or recommend.

White table cloths and cozy ambiance makes for an upscale type experience. The food was very good, but some miscues. Fanny Bay oysters weren't very cold, especially on the shallow plate of crushed ice, but they were very good in quality and taste. The seafood pasta was very rich, hot and tasty. 1 of the three clams didn't open up, one of the three mussels was not edible as it was all shriveled up and the sweet tasting scallops were over cooked. Reasonably priced and adequate service.

My husband and I were travelling from Toronto last week and looking for a good seafood restaurant. We were referred to Steveston’s and we are so glad we went! It was the perfect way to end our vacation. Shane greeted us warmly at the door and accommodated us without a reservation. He personally took time to not only serve us for our visit, but explained items on the menu, how they are prepared and some of the history of the restaurant and the community. He is a wonderful host who is proud of his restaurant and it shows in the service and quality of the food. We enjoyed the spot prawns (lucky to be there in-season), the seafood linguini and the salmon. All were outstanding and good value for the money. We even had mojitos made with fresh mint from his garden! We highly recommend this little hidden gem in Richmond for an excellent dining experience!

We have come to Steveston Seafood house on many wedding anniversaries. We had the prix fix dinner and were so happy with the consistently excellent beef carpaccio and a new entree of the seafood curry. Would love to see the seafood curry in the regular menu!!!! The cheesecake was excellent and we took it home and enjoyed it. Always great customer service and food.

We had a wonderful evening at Steveston Seafood. We had reservations for outside but it was cool so we asked if we could be accommodated inside. There was no problem. There are a couple of rooms inside and they are lovely fine dining rooms with nice tablecloths, fine china and soft very discreet music playing in the background. Tables are nicely spaced apart and the ambiance is very intimate and comfortable. The service all evening from Steven was exceptional. He was very good with suggestions and we never touched our wine bottle during the course of the evening. He allowed us to enjoy a nice leisurely meal. The food itself was amazing. We shared the beet, goat cheese, red onion and pecan salad and it was delicious. Steven arranged for it to be plated on 2 plates for us. For entrees my husband had the miso sablefish with sesame seeds and he said that it was one of the best sablefish he has had. It was a very generous portion and was nice and moist. I had the mighty Fraser – filet mignon topped with crabmeat and béarnaise sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly rare as I had requested. The crabmeat on top was a very generous serving and the steak was delicious. We shared a carrot cake for dessert. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and service. The wine was also reasonably priced. My husband said that this could become one of his favorite restaurants. Would highly recommend

Used to visit this restaurant every time in Vancouver but may be the last time. Was offered fresh Halibut as day special and then ehen our dishes came in, we were told that it was not Halibut but Chilean Sea Bass… quite different type of fish on both, texture and flavor. I didn’t accepted it and asked for sea food pasta instead. The pasta was made in a fast way just to bring it to me. Linguini was overcooked and had no flavour at all, although it was supposed to have a seafood-white wine and olive oil taste as per indicated on the menu, but it did not had any flavour. It is sad, but after so many times visiting this restaurant, it is time to search for another choice in the area. Too bad! At least the waitress and service was good though.

We ordered lamb shanks medium size, we enjoyed it every much & even leftovers for the next day’s lunch. The lamb was so tender, tasty with roasted veg & potatoes all in a sturdy container, came with bread also, priced reasonably We’re ordering from their takeout special menu next week. We’re happy to support this local business
