This is a very competent Hong kong style wun tun and simple cuisine establishment. Entrees are about 17 - 20$ each, in the affordable range, and the milk tea, nai cha, is very good. The hong kong news is always on the t.v. and you...can catch up with what is going on in the old home territory. I had salty fish and chicken fried rice today, and my wife had noodles, with pork and shrimp shui Jiao. It looked good. Worth checking out. Bon appetit!More

I had a amazing lunch at the Tsim Chai Noodle restaurant located opposite the Richmond Public Market , I was surprised and puzzled lunch hour this place is absolute dead ! where is every body , staff told me never busy for the last few...year only the week end , unsettling atmosphere , you can hear a pin drop , menu average like a Wonton house not pricy , I order my flavour black bean sauce with squid on rice noodle , looks so delicious , one taste , Oh Boy ! so sweet no flavour and so much gravy like a soup noodle , worst them all ! all their sauces water down to maximum , do not taste like sauce , special the Red vinegar like a red ink and the chill sauce taste like ketchup , I scratch my head , what a poor stupid business practices , staff very friendly and tell me I can change some thing else , I just happy pay the bill and leave ! for sure I will stay away , now I know why no body come in for lunch !More

We enjoyed a great Saturday afternoon lunch here. My wife had the Wonton and Shui Kau Noodle in Soup (#1) and I had the Wonton and Shui Kau Mixed Noodles (#25). The shui kau were wonderfully plump pockets of shrimp. Service was fast and efficient...and the food was great. Note that they only accept cash (or Candian debit card).More

Went here, have not been to for a year. Last visit was alright, but this time was way below par. We sat in the back which was closes to the kitchen and hallway. Right away I could smell something rotting, or foul. It smell like...dead people Left without take home. The waitress said it was Mutton and lamb. Bad smell usually mean bad food to make you sick.More

Visited this place for wonton noodles after a disappointing experienxe with dim sim couple days ago. The service here is very good. Wonton tastes good and the portion is good size. Nice to have a traditional cantonese style wonton place in Richmond.

Every time I feel like wonton soup, I come here. The quality is so consistent each and every time that I never go home disappointed (or with an empty stomach). My go-to is their Sui Kau Wonton mein. The wontons are all shrimp and always...plump&juicy. If you’re wondering what Sui Kau is, it’s a bigger wonton filled with both pork, shrimp and bamboo shoots. We usually order their deep fried wontons but I was by myself so couldn’t eat that much. BUT, I did get DOUBLE NOODS! Yes, it’s a lot of carbs but it was only a couple dollars more. Tsim Chai, I will see you again and bring more people.More

Last week, the above restaurant was promoting lobsters at $35/2. I did a take out on it and enjoyed it so much that I went back yesterday to do another take out. Their price had gone up another $5 plus you've got to buy another...dish. I just went for it because I love eating lobsters. Anyway, when I got home, to my disappointment, the lobsters didn't look like they were newly cooked. The pieces look like warmed over, texture and taste didn't look like they were freshly cooked within 15 mins and they don't look like the ones I had last week. Even the spring onions look off colour. Because I was hungry, I ate some, but the more I ate, the more I think it wasn't fair that I paid $40. I didn't finish the lobsters in order to show the owner. So I decided to complain to the owner. Since his English isn't that good, I wrote a letter in English and had it Google Translated. I let him read the letter to explain better. But right away, he denied it. That nothing is leftover overnite. But evidence says the contrary and I know very well what a freshly cooked lobster look like and even the spring onions and onions looked like they'd been warmed over. It's really disheartening that you pay them the price they want and still they cheated you. I am so disappointed that these entrepreneurs are so unscrupulous, they try to get away in any way they can. He thinks I don't know what a newly cooked lobster looks like but I do especially when they were coated with cornstarch. So now, I won't recommend this restaurant anymore. Take your money and go some place else where they don't cheat you.More

As noodle restaurants in Richmond go, this is a dime a dozen establishment with nothing that really makes it stand out from the competition. The food is decent, the decor and ambience nondescript, the price point fair, the service is typically bland and uncaring, and...the location is fairly central. A few details on some of the aforementioned aspects: Our selection of dishes is listed below: Singapore fried noodle: quite underwhelming with little in taste and the after effect of oil and dryness. Deep fried squid: excellent with a light, flour batter and large pieces. Beef and pineapple rice noodle: obvious use of second rate pineapple pieces and a little skimpy on the amount of beef but tasty otherwise. Wonton soup: 8 large wontons in a medium sized soup bowl. Pepper and salt tofu: tasty... not hard to screw up this dish. Fried rice: the standard gut filler, not outstanding but not terrible either. Hand shredded chicken: quite well done and pleasant taste and aroma. As for location, on Westminster Hwy in a small strip mall with plenty of free parking in a parking lot. However, don't think about bringing in a trailer, 45' bus, or B train... no place to turn around. Nothing larger than a pick up truck, please. In conclusion, an average restaurant in an average building, at an average price point with average food... in a city with many excellent foodie options. 3 stars.More

Haven't been here for years, so decided to come again. Their noodles were still good, especially the wonton, dace fish balls, pork kidneys... Never over-cook the food, especially the pork kidneys. The (yellow thin) noodle texture was still crunchy. Service was so-so, which is expected.

Go early if you want wonton noodles. They apparently cook the noodles in the same water all day, so the taste is not as fresh the later you go. My husband was not happy with his, noodles. I ordered pan fried beef thick noodles, but they...were kind of tough and oily this time. Last year ( and previous years) we came and had much better food.More

Having the night munchies, haven't been to this HK Style Noodle house for a while, ordered 2 items for take out... 1 ) Beef Brisket with Rice Noodles Soup; the beef brisket was a bit too lean for my taste which makes the meat a...bit dry, but the seasoning for the beef saved this dish! 2) Sui Gao ( Soup dumplings with shrimp, pork, bamboo shoots, black ear fungus etc. ) This is still one of their famous items besides their wonton, the dumplings were done just perfectly with all the ingredients melding together in harmony, the accompanying soup has the right flavour that makes this dish complete! If you are craving for authentic Cantonese / Hong Kong Style Noodles Tsim Chai has always been a reliable source!!More

Stopped here for a light dinner, they serve a variety of Chinese dishes with rice and noodles. I tried their beef brisket and wonton noodles without soup although you can have noodles in soup as well. Food is not expensive and is a good place...for quick cheap meal. The food was quite tasty and plentiful and popular with the locals. With these low prices, don't expect top notch service or fancy decor. As with most inexpensive Chinese restaurant, this is a cash only restaurant. Parking is free but be sure to pick your spot carefully as they have time limits of either 30 minutes or 1 hour.More

The food selection was very good and the service was fast and friendly. The only real concern I had was the cleanliness of the restaurant and especially the washrooms. After having such tasty food, the lack of cleanliness would keep me from going back.
