If you are looking for fancy types of sashimi and sushi roll, this is not the place for you. This place give a very authentic Japanese sushi plates. The owner is Japanese, and they do know how to prepare the sashimi right. Service there is nice. Very friendly staff

Lovely couple owned restaurant. The wife is very friendly and is definitely too busy as she's the only person serving and makes all the hot food! The husband is the sushi chef. Loved the atmosphere with the two working well together, but really the wife needs some help. As for the sushi, it is good, but it's not mind-blowing like... More

Second time I have been to Sushi Hachi and both times have been great. The sashimi combo and the several rolls I have had have all been terrific. Limited hours and the fact that it is always busy makes it difficult to get in sometimes so I suggest calling ahead and making a reservation. Get a seat a the sushi... More

Intimate setting - seats about 25 guests. Nothing fancy or complicated - just a clean, sparse space. Simple operation run by a husband and wife team delivering "homey" hospitality. Do not expect tempura, ramen / udon or teriyaki chicken - they don't have a full kitchen. Instead they stick to foods they know and that they can produce quickly and... More

Husband and wife run small restaurant so the food can take a little longer to come out. You must have an advance reservation or don't bother. They may not even answer the phone if they are busy. The quality of the food is very good at a mid-higher level pricing and worth it. Plenty of parking in the parade.

Let me premise this review, I walked into this restaurant, after not being able to find it my first few attempts, and noticed they had poor ventilation and a small little toaster type oven where they would cook individual pieces of fish. This is a recipe for a strong fish scented restaurant. I was then greeted with what could be... More

I wouldn't say they are the best in Vancouver but they are pretty decent. Family run small Japanese restaurant. Very limited choices but the quality are decent. Recommend for traditional sushi lovers

One of four favourite Japanese restaurants in the LMD. Only serves sushi and sashimi, so don't go expecting teriyaki chicken etc. Family run establishment with excellent quality fish and rice. Most people don't notice the rice, but it's a very important part of Japanese food! Make reservations....very popular place!!

Despite the too short hours of operation, despite the ugliness of the "compound" where it is located, despite the fact i always get lost when I go there, or perhaps *because* of all that, the reward is fabulous. The freshest fish. Top quality nori (you feel it right away). Perfect rice: not too cold, not to tight, right amount of... More
