We must have been lucky, read the last not-so-good reviews and was surprised it was very good, I had black pasta and it was excellent, my family all enjoyed the meal, just a couple of observations maybe a little bigger portion on the black pasta, and some sound reduction material within the room as it was very loud, other than that it was very good

Rather ordinary $24 wood fired pizza. Crust was charcoal. Middle was soft. there are not many pizza options on the menu. A couple were cream sauce. Size was fair. Wine by the bottle starts at $65. Won't be back, but hey they won't notice. The place was packed.

We had dinner on the patio on Sunday evening. We had reservations. The chairs for seating on the patio have definitely seen better days. When we first sat down and my chair was wobbling. I thought that it was because I was sitting on uneven pavement and tried moving to another table to see if it would be any better. A customer at another table saw me trying the other table and mentioned that it wasn’t the pavement but that the chairs were not stable. It appears that most of the chairs for the outside patio are wobbly. The customer said that most of the chairs were not really well balanced and told me to take his seat. They must have bought the chairs at a garage sale. They are very uncomfortable. The waitress witnessed all this but did not get the gentleman a more comfortable seat. We were there during their happy hour and ordered wine from the happy hour menu. This is fortunate as their wine prices on the regular menu have a very substantial mark up. In other words they are very high. For dinner we shared finnocchino pizza and carbonara pasta. When the pasta arrived the sauce was very runny and did not coat the pasta. There was no problem having this rectified. We didn’t even have to mention the problem to the server as she took one look at the pasta and commented that it was not a good carbonara. They redid the pasta and did not charge us for the dish. The pizza was very good. We liked the crust, it is thin and a bit chewy. They bring oregano oil and chili oil to the table so you can season your pizza to your taste. Although the food was very good the meat on the dishes was very sparse. There were very small amounts of sausage on the pizza and on the carbonara you really had to hunt to find the very small amounts of guanciale. Between the 2 dishes there may have been a total of 2 oz. of meat. For the prices they charge they should be more generous with the protein. The service was amazing. I think our servers name was Meghan. She services the outside tables and has been there about 4 months. She is absolutely terrific. She checked on us and ensured that we had everything we required during the course of the evening. A real gem. I hope I got her name right. Di Beppe in gastown is also owned by the same group. We prefer Di Beppe and will likely just continue going to Di Beppe.

Thought it was expensive for the quality but the food and the atmosphere. Portions were not great. Also they rushed us out so someone else could have our table. There were still vacant tables in the restaurant.

We've tried previous incarnations of restaurants in this spot but this was our first family visit to Farina a Legna. We were in general really happy with the experience. Good covid measures in place, checks at reception and good space between tables. All four of us got pizzas - the adults shared the Calabrese and the Finocchiona - both were excellent. The kids got margherita and they did enjoy them, if a little overcooked and sparse. The star of the night, for me, was the plate of roasted veg - its crave-worthy and I'll be coming back for that one. Smart wine list. We'll be back!

The vegan pizza was absolutely exceptional. However, the rest of the experience was disappointing. Our table for two was too small - not enough to hold individual dinner plates and food for two. The service was uncomfortably rushed - our server was eager to put a pizza on our table while we were still having a salad, and there was no room for a pizza on the table. The desert was a disappointment too - we got the tiramisu, but it came without the lady finger cookies, despite being advertised on the menu.

We were at Farina A Legna on Jan. 31, 2021. We chose this restaurant because of it's attention to Covid regulations. The tables were well separated with partitions. However, our food was dismal, at best! The buratta was tasteless and it cost $24! The pizza crust was soggy, although the toppings tasted fresh. The squash ravioli had a very mushy consistency - like babyfood. They also have no tea option - only coffee. We brought our own dessert as it was a birthday celebration, so we didn't get a chance to sample the desserts. Our family will never return. So disappointing considering we hadn't been out in months.

Enjoyed our takeout pizzas, very tasty. Tiramisu was also yummy and felt homemade (though a little too much coffee syrup so it was a bit runny).

We were there on a Friday night, 6 people, very lucky to get a table. Delicious wood fired pizza, great pasta and all very reasonable. A great addition to the neighbourhood! Also, our server was very friendly.

We'd attended a somber, outdoor event in the freezing cold and were feeling a bit grim when we arrived here, but this restaurant proved to be just the tonic we needed. A good rule: drink Lambrusco whenever it's available, which it is here. After some red wine, an excellent meatball appetizer, a pizza, and some tiramisu (plus some cheering up by our lively server), the world seemed a much brighter place. In sum, good food, good wine, good service.

The wood fired pizza is simply outstanding - crisp thin tender crust and terrifically tasty toppings. The veal meatballs were also excellent. Finally, Th service is very friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable.

New to the neighbourhood (in the space formerly occupied by Il Castello), Farina a Legna leverages the experience gained from their other location to produce delicious pizza, and have also added pasta. They're obviously onto something, because the place was packed at 5:30 on a Friday night (lots of kiddos); they take very limited reservations so make one early or take your chances on a walk-in. Authentic, cozy, loud, charming. Limited menu with some terrific options. Drink menu had three whites and three reds, all Italian and served in the traditional 'juice' type of glass; two local seasonal beers also on offer. Funghi pizza was delicious, and with the addition of fennel sausage was plenty for dinner for two, especially when we mopped up some infused oregano oil with our tasty crusts. Have to mention our server. Didn't catch her name (dark hair, glasses), but she was so helpful/knowledgeable on the drinks and the menu in general, and was charming to boot. Really one of the best servers we've ever had. Definitely will be back (soon!) to try some pasta.
