I wish I lived closer. I had the most delicious sourdough savoury pancake and the passion fruit kombucha was perfection. I would sign up for a cooking class in a second.

The owner lives on the premises of the restaurant and if you happen to go there when she is closed between 2-4 she'll practically bite your head off for coming inside though she omits to lock the entry door and has no signage saying the restaurant is closed.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time, after hearing about its philosophy, being organic etc. and seeing the garden growing over the season. I have a vegetarian friend who prefers organics, so I thought it would be a great place to take her. Wow - so very disappointing to say the least. Very cold, boring atmosphere... More

What's in a plain omelette? Well nothing if you have not apprenticed for years under a real Japanese chef in Japan. This restaurant is a small unknown placed tucked in the same strip mall as Sea to Sky Dive Center. It's young Japanese chef is only there on weekends now, I believe, as it is normally operated by another family.... More

Great pictures on Facebook and Great philosophy on fair trade, organic and fermented ingredient. However, when you walk into this place it's completely different. First poor poor quality service, letting customer wait for 10mins, giving customer attitudes or ignoring them. Second, another 15 mins wait time for food. Thirdly, when your food is served to you... It's cold and it's... More

Because of their sporadic business hours, I always try to call before making the long drive out there. They literally never answer their phone! On top of this, poor service, average food. I want to love this place because of the ingredients and type of philosophy but with the numerous other organic, local-type food places to go to around, this... More

Had breakfast/lunch with the family. We had pancakes (buckwheat and sourdough) with honey maple butter and rhubarb jelly and a "hunter gatherer plate" with roasted yams and quail eggs. The vegetable garden right outside the door provided the greens for the salad. The food was well prepared, delicious. The service was prompt. The atmosphere was homey reminiscent of a european... Just the other day a friend asked me if this place was still open since he knows I've visited it a few times and like its philosophy. It's been a while last time I've tried to have lunch there. It was one of their regular business days, and for my surprise, again, they were closed and no notes left for... More

This place was freezing cold as was our server. It was expensive for the size of the portions. Food was bland and presentation was average. They had a selection of take out fermented vegetables but, when I requested information about ingredients I got very curt , almost rude responses. If you do make the trip you have to check out... All day, all good breakfasts, super daily soup and tasty, lunches. A vegetable garden outside and their own condiments in the dairy case (coleslaw, pickled cabbage and other jars of beautiful colours). Extremely fresh organic food wherever possible, all their milk cheese, chicken + beef suppliers are listed. We had a good roast beef sandwich on their own sprouted spelt... More

Description
One burger, easy on the grease!
A treat for a friend who was helping me install a new kitchen tap. We ordered 2 pumpkin soups and 2 burgers. Total cost $38.

Nice soup. The burgers were an utterly amazing disappointment.

What we expected for the price: a nice burger with cheese, lettuce, and tomato.

What we got: at least one full cup of greasy fried red peppers, onions, and mushrooms burying a beef patty which was on one side of a halved slice of flatbread. We couldn't figure out how to eat it or how to get rid of so many greasy, slimy strips of red peppers and onions. In all truth, the burger was the most disgusting garbage I have seen served up, as food, in a very very long time.

The end result: embarrassment for me as my friend was my guest; upset stomachs for both of us.

Later: anger.

I telephoned the manager who said, "We've never had any complaints before. Maybe this isn't your kind of place." No apology. Nothing.

Ethical Kitchen? A place where management doesn't care how much grease it serves up. Health food? Hardly.
