We have eaten here a few times, the first time it was for our anniversary. Best meal I have had in a long time! We have been back only once since and it was just as good as I remembered. The staff is very knowledgeable on the wines and if you have dietary needs they will accommodate. Can't say enough about... More

Creative cuisine with a local west coast twist. The menu is always a surprise and the flavors are palette pleasing. The Portly Chef is always a good choice.

Went to the Portly Chef with my wife. Had the Brohm Lake Duck. I always thought that this was the lake named after the lake on the way up to Whistler Mtn. Wrong. Actually based out of Quebec. I've had duck before but this was above and beyond. Crushed cranberries and crumpled goat cheese along with a delicious sauce was... More

This little family owned and operated gem is an absolute find! Right in the mid Lonsdale corridor the Portly Chef is small, quaint and full of down home charm. The MAC and CHEESE are the best on the planet! And all the other items are beautifully presented with a twist of love. We really enjoyed our experience which lifted all... More

Heard this was a great spot on North Shore and had brunch today - fabulous huevos rancheras, Emily provided really good service..always attentive, but leaving us to our conversations, very friendly. Made our day - thank you to the 2 chefs who've apparently been working together for many many years - the partnership shows! Can't wait to go again. Cute... More

Food is excellent, and service good. A small, but friendly establishment, and easy for us to get to from Lynn Valley. Nice for a casual lunch with friends and/or family.

Having enjoyed The Portly Chef a few times each year since it opened, we chose it today for a very special occasion. Without a doubt, this was above and beyond the best lunch I have enjoyed in recent memory. I choose a cioppino whenever I find it on a menu. For the most part, I find the broth too thick... More

Had a dinner here this week and the food was fantastic. I think I had some of the best foie gras I have ever had. Don't be turned off by the atmosphere. The food was superb.
