It is such a great pity that The Observatory, with its spectacular location on Grouse Mountain, and with its spectacular view of Vancouver below, is still closed because of Covid concerns. And this especially so at this festive time, when a visit in the cable...car to this unique restaurant is so breathtaking. I used to run a speaker series at Green College, at UBC, while teaching there, and often invited academics, many from around the world, to speak. I tried to take as many of them up Grouse Mountain as possible, and for dinner, as it gave a stunning view of Vancouver, encompassing so much of the city — and the food was good. It is a hope that The Observatory will soon reopen. Posted by S FullerMore

Arrived at 8 seated at 8:15, waitress came right away and brought water then we sat there for 20 min until she took our drink order. Finally got our first drink 35 min after arriving. Completely unacceptable for the price you pay and for a...5 star restaurant. Food was good but not worth the price, I’ve had better meals for less. Ambiance just didn’t feel like a 5 star restaurant, view is incredibly beautiful. If this restaurant want at the top of a mountain there is no way it would still be open with the price they charge.More

It was my birthday, and came here with 3 other friends. The atmosphere was nice and quiet in the beginning, but once the food started coming out, we were rushed to eat, since there were barely any room on the small table for our plates...(they were huge plates), the waitress removed our bread and cutleries when we weren't even finished, the coffee was COLD! and at the end we got our dessert (chocolate ganache and some yogurt thingy)....to our surprise....the yogurt was fine but tasteless...and the chocolate ganache had to be the WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN AND TRIED. I should've made a complaint about it but regrettably I didn't. All I know is that, we're never gonna come back here. Suckkkkkssssssssss.More

Restaurant is good and food great but definitively not kids friendly. One of the waitress kept a high level of anxiety within our wives due to the way she treated our children. Like they were not supposed to be in the restaurant. Worthwhile noting that...we made our reservation mentioning we had 4 kids. My score might have been a 4 had we attended without kidsMore

Four of us had the tasting menu with wine pairing. The waiter was unfriendly, un-attentive, and forgot to ask about our meat doneness preference - we had to try five times to get his attention. The kitchen burnt the desert, so they substituted the desert...but were too lazy to substitute the desert wine pairing. All wine pairings were amazing, but the desert pairing was atrocious and spoiled what would have been a great dinner (ignoring the service issues). We were forced to pay 18% tip, even though one waiter seemed to want to be anywhere except at work, doing his job, and the desert *literally* left a bad taste in our mouths. For $600+, I expected better. On the upside, the food was excellent, and another of the wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. There are much better "high-end" restaurant experiences available in Vancouver.More

Very FINE gourmet dinner - however, the limited number of entrees. As you see the photo below, it is self-explanatory why we enjoyed there.

We wanted to experience Canadian Fine dining with a view of Vancouver below. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were allocated a really good table by a corner window. The staff were also very accommodating and allowed us to move our reservation forward as...the weather was so bad and we had considered cancelling our reservation. You always take a chance on the weather when booking in advance and it was overcast when we sat down but cleared as we ate. The view is outstanding and the restaurant is well laid out with good space between tables and good lighting. The menu offered wide choice and was reasonably priced. We had oysters and octopus to start and steak and salmon as main courses. The servings are generous, it was all well cooked and nicely presented. Neither of us wanted desert. The service was very good although maybe a little too fast and the server was very welcoming but maybe lacked sincerity - possible driven by the fact you are allocated two hours per sitting. The restaurant is in demand, it is a good experience if a little expensive once you have added taxes and service charges. I do recommend it it and also making sure you have transport back to where you are staying as cabs and buses seemed in short supply.More

We went in summer and on a rainy day, so had low expectations of service, etc. Boy, were we wrong. The burger was made to order and my wife's salad was fresh and delicious. We were very happy with the service, as well. Good stop...on Grouse Mountain to eat.More

Our group of 10 men returning from a fishing trip dined at The Observatory our last night in Vancouver and enjoyed an incredible meal overlooking Vancouver. We had booked this dinner ahead of time and had group dining menu which included a great variety of...entrees and the chef even offered beef tenderloin off the menu. Our service was great and the food excellent and enjoyed with a spectacular view below.More
