Went for dinner with 5 guests, had the worst gin and tonic of my life and regret not returning it. It tasted like the gin was just added to water and not Tonic water, just terrible for an $18 drink. I found the wait staffed...talked too much and too loudly right beside your table and did not provide consistent focus across the tables. It was not a well run fine dining experience at all. The best tables are for couple only by the windows, so I regret taking a group to this place. Not worth the set menu price or the included gondola ticket.More

This was an unbelievable experience and value. With the inclusion of the Skyride ticket, we felt like we had both amazing value for the overall experience of Grouse Mountain during the holidays and the meal. We had the parsnip soup, local greens, scallops, steak, pappardelle,...duck, and chocolate fondant for dessert, and everything we tasted was incredible. For $100 a person, this was a must do experience for Vancouver.More

Travelled to Vancouver for the first time and made an advanced reservation here because of what their website said. ‘Housed in a mountaintop chalet with windows overlooking the city lights of Vancouver, enjoy a dining experience at new heights.’ My husband thought this through so...much that he looked at the timing of the sunset on the day were booked for and picked a time accordingly. Imagine our dismay and disappointment to arrive on time and be given a table with no views at all. When we explained the situation we were told that it was first come, first served (?) and they had an observation deck if we wanted photos. We were gutted. Food was ok (we’ve had 2 better meals in Vancouver already). Service was friendly and lovely and for the most part attentive. And yes a gondola ride up Grouse Mountain was included in the cost. But the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths. Most expensive meal out for us so far but it would have been worth it had we had the views their website promised. As it was, it was not value for money and I would not recommend it at all as in our mind they over promised and under delivered on the views. We can only imagine what that would have been like.More

Sorry that your night wasn't as you hoped. While we do advertise the view - the weather is not under our control. All the tables in the room do have views, but unfortunately not everyone is at the window.

On our recent visit to Vancouver we sort of stumbled on this Restaurant at the top of Grouse Mountain. Thanks to a Google review, we found out that the gondola ride was free with a restaurant booking, so took the plunge. Ride tickets were valid...from 4pm for our 6pm reservation, giving us enough time to see the bears (sad they are in an enclosure but better than the alternative) and part of the flying bird display. Menu a little limited, but was delicious (made even more so by exceeding our expectations!) and the view over Vancouver was spectacular. Special mention for the beef tenderloin, and the puddings but everything was a delight.More

What a shame I got an extra live ant running over my desert at The Observatory @grousemountain. I was told it would have come with the flower on my plate from their garden. Why wasn’t the flower and plate checked before it went out? Poor...show and took the shine off my meal ☹️More

4 of us had steak, prawns and scallops, steak was very tuff and only method to cook it was to boil in broth, it was very hard to eat and almost all was left at table, scallops were very strong fishy smell so it ruined...our appetite, portions of potatoes were small , chocolate fondue was some pineapple, marshmallows and waffles- we feel poorly done for the priceMore

Had the fondue dining experience last evening. The fondue more than exceeded our culinary expectations, the staff from start to finish were first class outstanding and the weather cooperated with a dynamite sunset and a sparkling night Vancouver skyline peeping through the snow capped trees....Priceless! Will be back later in the season!!!!More

I would vote 0 stars if it was possible. WASTE OF MONEY! If it is a fine dining, then you better serve fine food. If you only have a fondue in your menu, then you better be good at it! Food was the worst thing...that I have ever had. First course: Melted cheese with stale bread and couple of small potatoes. Bread was not fresh at all. I wouldn’t have that bread even in my breakfast. Melted cheese taste no better than any store-bought cheese. Second course: Vegetable broth fondue(?) with meat of your choice (we selected beef, scallops and salmon). This is not a fondue, it is the worst hot pot you can ever had. Broth is tasteless. Beef was stew beef chunks, nothing special. This course is a huge disappointment even it is the main dish (!) Third course: chocolate fondue with fruit and marshmallows. Even the chocolate was terrible. If you buy an average quality chocolate from a store, it would have been more delicious than the served one. Ughh… This place is like a joke. They serve you the worst meal with nice service and scenery. Then they expect you to believe that this is a fine dining. We paid $400+tax+tip for 4 people. Not worth a penny, big mistake!More

It is such a great pity that The Observatory, with its spectacular location on Grouse Mountain, and with its spectacular view of Vancouver below, is still closed because of Covid concerns. And this especially so at this festive time, when a visit in the cable...car to this unique restaurant is so breathtaking. I used to run a speaker series at Green College, at UBC, while teaching there, and often invited academics, many from around the world, to speak. I tried to take as many of them up Grouse Mountain as possible, and for dinner, as it gave a stunning view of Vancouver, encompassing so much of the city — and the food was good. It is a hope that The Observatory will soon reopen. Posted by S FullerMore

Arrived at 8 seated at 8:15, waitress came right away and brought water then we sat there for 20 min until she took our drink order. Finally got our first drink 35 min after arriving. Completely unacceptable for the price you pay and for a...5 star restaurant. Food was good but not worth the price, I’ve had better meals for less. Ambiance just didn’t feel like a 5 star restaurant, view is incredibly beautiful. If this restaurant want at the top of a mountain there is no way it would still be open with the price they charge.More

It was my birthday, and came here with 3 other friends. The atmosphere was nice and quiet in the beginning, but once the food started coming out, we were rushed to eat, since there were barely any room on the small table for our plates...(they were huge plates), the waitress removed our bread and cutleries when we weren't even finished, the coffee was COLD! and at the end we got our dessert (chocolate ganache and some yogurt thingy)....to our surprise....the yogurt was fine but tasteless...and the chocolate ganache had to be the WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN AND TRIED. I should've made a complaint about it but regrettably I didn't. All I know is that, we're never gonna come back here. Suckkkkkssssssssss.More

Restaurant is good and food great but definitively not kids friendly. One of the waitress kept a high level of anxiety within our wives due to the way she treated our children. Like they were not supposed to be in the restaurant. Worthwhile noting that...we made our reservation mentioning we had 4 kids. My score might have been a 4 had we attended without kidsMore

Four of us had the tasting menu with wine pairing. The waiter was unfriendly, un-attentive, and forgot to ask about our meat doneness preference - we had to try five times to get his attention. The kitchen burnt the desert, so they substituted the desert...but were too lazy to substitute the desert wine pairing. All wine pairings were amazing, but the desert pairing was atrocious and spoiled what would have been a great dinner (ignoring the service issues). We were forced to pay 18% tip, even though one waiter seemed to want to be anywhere except at work, doing his job, and the desert *literally* left a bad taste in our mouths. For $600+, I expected better. On the upside, the food was excellent, and another of the wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. There are much better "high-end" restaurant experiences available in Vancouver.More

Very FINE gourmet dinner - however, the limited number of entrees. As you see the photo below, it is self-explanatory why we enjoyed there.
