We took my 90-year old father to the Tomahawk restaurant yesterday. I had not been since I was a young child and my father could not remember ever going there, though he had taken me as a child. The food was totally fine. Tasted good, good portions, but definitely nothing special and fairly pricey for what you get. This is not a gourmet restaurant and an omlette costs just under $17. My biggest complaint was that upon ordering, I stated that my father and I would share the omlette. My father has very little appetite and is totally turned off when too much food comes on his plate. I did not see any small items on the menu, so agreed to share with him. I was clear that we just needed an extra plate and did not need the meal to be split. I was told that no matter what, if people wish to share a meal, there is a $5.00 charge, on top of the $16.95. That makes for a very expensive, not so gourmet omlette. What if I had said my dad was just having coffee and then he ate off my plate? This seems ridiiculous. In the end, my dad only ate half of his half meal. He would have done well with a 1/4 meal but we were charged over $20 for a so-so omlette. I likely will not return for this reason. This is a rip off. Much better restaurants do not charge when people share meals. What makes the Tomahalk feel they can do this in all good conscious!

Tomahawk has the best bacon breakfast in town hands down! Homely cozy environment and great food with satisfying milkshakes. Their traditional pies are a tad overrated, instead of cream cheese they use egg whites froth to give it a meringue look... Not impressed with it Today the elderly lady serving was unhappy for some reason and we felt as if she was chatty and smiling to everyone else except us...!!! I could have easily rated 5 stars.. but for these 2 reasons I would rate 3 only.

We were looking for a restaurant to have dinner at. Just happened to come across Tomahawk Barbecue. The first thing you see when you go in is a cute collection of rubber ducks!! And as I am a rubber duck collector , we just had to eat there. The service was great , and the food was delicious. Also the waitress was very nice. We were hoping to go there for breakfast the next morning , because we heard they have the BEST breakfasts around, but they were not open till 10 am and we had to catch a ferry. But we will be back.!!

This restaurant has been serving excellent comfort food daily for near on 100yrs. Due to COVID restrictions for family get togethers I was very pleased to discover the Tomahawk Barbeque was preparing Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings including pie for dessert! As advised, I pre-ordered dinner for 8 & was immediately impressed by the healthy portions provided. Pick up was scheduled for 4PM on the 24th & everything was well packaged & available on my arrival. Instructions were included for reheating the food (I distributed it to family members on Dec 25th) so even though we were in 3 different locations we could use technology to join together for a safe dinner despite Covid Omicon. Our thanks to "Chuck" & all the restaurant staff who made our family dinner happen. I look forward to doing this if offered in the future.

Stay away. This food has been great before but today was nasty. When I complained they refused to do anything about it. When I found the manager. The old guy with white hair and told him that meal was not worth 100 bucks he literally laughed at me with the wait staff. He is an embarrassment and has no business being there with such a poor attitude. I plan on escalating this.

It's the place we bring out of town guests. The ambiance with the dated memorabilia enhances the massive portions of tasty food. If eating a lb of bacon in one sitting wasn't life threatening, I would be there daily. Yummy.

The Tomahawk Restaurant is a kitschy diner with a Native American theme to it. The food is definitely nothing to write home about. We had a pretty mediocre burger and so-so breakfast bowl. I would not suggest coming here for the food. The old school kitsch, however, is fun and noteworthy. You even get free headdresses to wear and a cartoony map of Canada. The service was friendly and there was plenty of parking. I would not recommend this place for the food, but if you have an interest in quirky diners, Tomahawk does have some merit. Just don't go very far out of your way for it.

Stopped here for a lunch, which worked out well as we beat the mid-day rush. Staff were efficient & friendly plus the food was tasty. Lunch time specials are good option based on flavor & value. The decor is very unique & eclectic in this establishment.

interesting decoration but terrible food. I hate to write bad reviews but my partner did get sick eating there - took 3 days to recover: meat and mashed potatoes. His dish did not look very appetizing, but it also had an odd taste. I had the BLT which was just OK - not very tasty. I hope the kitchen can adjust as I think it is a unique place. maybe best to stick with egg dishes as other reviews wrote positive review on brunch/breakfasts. a bit sad to write this as we were looking forward to eating there.

I am always on the lookout for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives while on my travels. I happened to know that Guy Fieri had visited the Tomahawk. The restaurant is a well known fixture, even my Uber driver knew of it and had even eaten there. He highly recommended it and he wasn't wrong. I went in to be seated and was surprised at the size of the place. It really had an old rustic feel to it. The day was so nice, I asked to sit on the patio. Katrina seated me right away and provided great service throughout my meal. I ordered the Tomahawk B.L.T.. The meal came with fries and a sliced dill pickle. I really enjoyed my sandwich. The yukon bacon was almost like ham and there must have been at least 5 thick slices. The bacon was not crispy, but I could bite through them without pulling the whole slice out. I wish there had been a bit more tomato and lettuce to go with the large amount of bacon. Even so it was still a great sandwich. The artisan bread was lightly toasted and easily stood up to the large amount of fillings. The fries were excellent, freshly fried and nicely seasoned. The dill pickle was tangy and a great accompany to my meal. Given the chance I would definitely return. Once again I found another great Triple D joint.

Don't know why this excellent little place has only got 4 stars. The decor is lovely very First Nations Canadian. We were greeted very nicely. Our server was charming and kept us well topped up with coffee and water (The water, it's a Canadian thing!) Rib sticking, well cooked, tasty food, served hot and tasty. Did I say that already? The desserts sound good but not so great, but I am a pastry chef! Atmosphere 100%. The Oldest restaurant in Vancouver and apparently Bryan Adams worked there as a busboy once. Has appeared on Food Network. Note: This is a diner therefore not a bottle of beer in sight. Give yourself a treat!

Until today's visit, my wife and I always loved dining at the Tomahawk. Today was a shock. Portions were half the size they normally are. My Roast Turkey Dinner had two small pieces of turkey, Worse, my wife's Roast Beef Dinner was the worst I've ever seen -- two small slices of paper thin overcooked beef -- barely enough for a small sandwich. And both meals seemed to have so much salt We complained to two servers about the tiny portions. Both said those are now the standard size portions. One gave me a scoop of mediocre ice cream to compensate. Today was sadly a terrible case of shrinkflation. It was a dreadful disappointment.

I live in South Vancouver but I try to get to the Tomahawk BBQ & Cafe in North Vancouver several times a year. Their Yukon Bacon is a must and their menu has a great selection of favourites. Big portions, great coffee and friendly service are the best start for any day. Like before you “do” the Grouse Grind or go skiing on Cypress or a long drive to Whistler.

I've been hearing about the Skookum Chief burger for 35 years so I finally made it to BC and sought it out. It was everything I'd been told and more! All of our meals were massive and delicious. Wonderful service in a clean and friendly restaurant made this a terrific experience for the whole family. Thank you!

This diner has been in operation for nearly 80 years and they have the memorabilia to prove it! One of my earliest memories is of throwing a quarter in the little waterpond, it was so big then. The menu is classic diner with Huge breakfasts but it is the atmosphere of history and pioneer culture you want to experience. Go seek it out, see all the wonderful historical artifacts and have a great time! Note- all artifacts are confirmed as either purchased from, or given as gifts by, the local First Nations to the original owners of the house.
