About
Spirit Ridge proudly sits on the traditional land of the Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation. Our inspiration for the name of the restaurant comes from chaptik stories of the first aboriginals to live in the Okanagan. The Syilx People of the Okanagan Nation approach to food is based on the creation stories of their culture. The Four Food Chiefs are central: Skimxist Black Bear (chief of animals, representing self-sacrifice, leadership, giving), Ntytikxw Chinook Salmon (water creatures, perseverance, hard work), Speetlum Bitterroot (plants below the round, relationships to the land) and Seeya Saskatoon Berry (plants above the ground, growth, strength, community) are legendary. Lovely modern interior with delightful staff and an amazing view. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and the flavours from each ingredient paired so well together. Was also served with colorful mixed greens, and a side of fruit! I would absolutely recommend for anyone visiting...the area.More

We were staying close by and wanted a nice restaurant meal to celebrate our anniversary. After checking the menu online, we decided to go here and we were so glad we did as the food was exceptional and the service outstanding! The dining room features...attractive decor and every seat has a gorgeous view looking out over vineyards to Osoyoos Lake. One of the reasons we chose this restaurant was to try their Hasenpfeffer stew (rabbit loin & leg, onion, carrot, squash, nettle dumplings, juniper, kale and blackberries), which was very generous, wonderfully flavourful, and full of fresh ingredients - we enjoyed it so much with their marvelous Frybread and dips. We finished our meal off with a beautifully presented and delicious dessert - The Legend of Carl & The Forbidden Apricot (apricot mousse, apricot gelée, pistachio pain de gene and cherry sorbet). It was such a lovely meal and the two young men servers were so friendly and informative, we couldn't have enjoyed our experience more. We wish we lived closer so that we could visit often.More

Brunch options are all very heavy and large portions. Not recommended if you want lighter or healthier options. I’d suggest the restaurant would benefit from adding a couple lighter choices.

We had a foodie night at the resort restaurant. We had the Dine Around dinners. My wife had the 3 Aunties Turkey Soup which was hearty and tasty. I had the 3 sister Salad which was loaded with so many tastes. Yummy. For our mains...my wife had the Beef Back Ribs and I had the Duck with beans, berries and beets. Both super flavorful and hearty. For dessert my wife had the Butterfly, a picture of creativity and tastes galore. I had the house made sorbets which was refreshing and flavor filled. We also had the wine pairings. Service was good and friendly. As a added treat for my wife's birthday the restaurant provided us with a extra dessert to take home and enjoy the next day.More

Nestled at the centre of South Okanagan grape country sits Spirit Ridge Resort, basking in Canada's only desert. It is just steps from the regions top wineries, splendid golf course, posh spa, riding stables, family and adult pools, cardio studio, biking, hiking and riding trails....In spite of the wealth of amenities, Spirit Ridge is devoted to the preservation of Osoyoos First Nation ecology, history and indigenous culture. With the vast activity venues, guests love to indulge in the food fare of the 'big chief' restaurant here: The Bear, The Root, The Fish & The Berry. This is a culinary mouthful, a rascally term with the muscle of its menu as modern vineyard cuisine inspired by indigenous roots. As an 'Ancestral Food Belief' these roots stem from the Okanagan First Nation People whose approach to food is based on Four Food Chiefs that represent the key elements of indigenous cuisine (Bear, Root, Fish & The Berry). The culinary team is strongly trained in the cultural aspects of the menu to reflect the local environment in the dishes. The menu categories of the restaurant are structured in the following formations: The Bear (Meat), The Root (Starters), The Fish (Seafood), & The Berry (Dessert). From the seafood column I opted for the Salmon Platter, from the meat section; the 3 Sisters Turkey Soup and from the dessert row , the Butterfly Dream.....and all were savoury items. The Butterfly Dream; however, was presented so beautifully that I didn't know whether to just stare at it or eat it. I ate it. Service was admirably executed. So if you crave dishes out of the ordinary and based on ingredients farmed from Indian land and the creatures that are the key elements of the indigenous food spirits......the try ......The Bear, The Fish, The Root & The Berry....Chief Indigenous Food Elements.More

We had takeout from here awhile back and it was good. Went for lunch the other day and was completely disappointed. We ordered seafood chowder. The cream broth was virtually tasteless, flat with a hint of lemon. But it was the almost complete lack of...seafood that was disappointing. I had two pieces of salmon smaller than the tip of my baby finger and two small pieces of white fish not much bigger. Four halves of tiny potatoes and a bit of kale. We compared notes around the table and everyone had about the same in their bowls. For almost $20 with a tip, it was a big disappointment. Coincidentally my husband had lunch there the next day. I warned him not to have the seafood chowder so he didn’t but others did and all had the same response…where was the seafood?? On the upside, the wait staff was lovely.More
