Myself and my wife drove from Abbotsford to try it out, and I being from Montreal enjoyed it very much. Tasted like back home, and very satisfied with the lean sandwich, and coleslaw was on the mark. double fried fries, and looking forward to trying...the regular smoke meat style next time. and I can say as a fact there will be repeat visits. I had been wanting a smoked meat sandwich for weeks. I came across this place and thought, perfect! My honest thoughts are … your food is off the charts. Fresh bread, great fries, seriously to die for Smoked meat. This being said. You need to...clean up your interior! Paint the floor! Update the decor and dining. We have been here to Estrella's at least 10 times. Always for lunch. Food is fresh and very tasty. You get alot for your money. We have split it as it is quite large.
Great corn beef sandwiches, one of the best in the whole area. Always pleasant staff. Try before lunch hour or just after.
- Sandwich was not even warm, let alone hot. The cold sandwich tasted very salty and cold. The bread was soggy. The meat wasn’t tender but very chewy. Overall the sandwich was a huge disappointment, nothing like a Montreal smoked meat sandwich. - The poutine...tasted old stale and soggy. It was disgusting and nothing special about it. Went there for lunch, was told to wait outside for 10 minutes for food, took over 30 minutes to get the food. Not a lot of room Service is minimal, You order at the counter, they give you a numbered card, and food is delivered to the table Wife had a grilled cheese with...caramelized onions on light rye. This is a tiny hole-in-the-wall type of place with a very simple menu, but what it does it does exceptionally well. They make there own smoked meat in the Montreal tradition. It’s a milder form of what American’s call Pastrami. the main offering is a...6 or 10 ounce Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich on simple rye bread with yellow or Dijon mustard. You can side it with a Montreal dill pickle, cherry pepper, or pepperoncini. They also offer a Ruben. They have a few other sandwiches, soups, and a couple smoked meat breakfast items. The smoked meat is simple exceptional, fresh, plentiful, bright, and rich tasting. The shop has maybe 10 tables but we got ours to go and were not disappointed.More

Having lived in Montreal for 25 years, I really do know what authentic Montreal Smoked meat should taste like. Well Estrella's has it right. Their smoked meat sandwich is right on. Their rye bread is identical to the one they serve in Montreal. And the...kosher pickle - YUMMY ! ! ! While it took them a while to get their fries to best the best in town, they have that down pat now also.
