We were in town for a 25th anniversary trip to see the Canadian Rockies and chose this restaurant as our splurge night out. We both had the 10 oz. ribeyes and split the bread & butter board.
The steaks were served to the correct temperature, but they were very bold in seasoning. I forgot to order mine with light seasoning and would have enjoyed it more with less seasoning. Most people would not have thought a thing about it, my husband was completely happy with his steak. It was served with vegetables and potatoes so we didn’t order any additional sides.
The appetizer was the bread and butter board, which felt a little expensive for what it was.
Our waiter was very friendly and helped us select a nice bottle of Summerhill Pyramid Winery Ehrenfelser. We’d never tried an ehrenfelser before, but found it an interesting change and enjoyable. Our waiter made sure to put the cork back in so we could take it back to the condo and finish off at a later time.
It was pretty expensive and with the many other options in town, we didn’t feel like it was necessarily a repeat type of place.

This place has an awesome brunch it was $34 and that included coffee.
Wife ordered some other breakfast plate for $18 and could even finish.
Jam and peanut butter in glass containers. All food is high quality.
It cost a little more but this is the best place I have ever eaten in Canmore

We have been to the Sterling in the past this time disappointing. I will expand Joseph was the server vg and gave us time. We had a bottle of wine I had an Old fashion $25. 00. Bison Bolognese $30 and the $65.00 steak all of this was vg. Now the dissatisfaction cheesecake $14.00 was about 2inches long and 1/2 inch in height 4 bites and done and we shared. I drew this to the attention of the server while not his fault he did make light of it but moved on. I am sure you much make a small fortune with this minute portion. Last night l went to Iron Goat first class. Ordered cheesecake $10.00 great large piece no complaints. Stirling not that anything will be done a lesson learned by a patron your deserts while good not worth the price. If it was not for the rest rating would be 3. Respectful submitted by a paying customer.

We own a home in Canmore, and have eaten at the Stirling Grill just about every time we’re in town. We enjoyed the patio, its lovely setting and dining experience. The salmon burger, maple salmon meal or steak salad were our favourites. Tonight we were disappointed to find all these options disappeared off the menu. Instead, our dinner options did not appeal to us, were very overpriced and not to our liking. Our waiter was good, but the drinks were very slow to appear, and food even slower (we were seated for an hour before our meals arrived). My husband mentioned to me his salmon dinner was cold.
Overall, we didn’t find the food and setting was up to the expense. The Sterling Hotel should recognize that the outdoor patio is not a place for fine dining. It’s a casual setting that should have a menu of similar style. The pricey menu, costly plates and delayed appearance of the courses provided an experience not worthy of the final bill.

My husband and I were visiting the area on vacation. We were celebrating our anniversary and went to the Malcolm Hotel’s restaurant for their three course dinner. The service was quite slow. The waiter was slow in bringing out food; even the bread. We had the scallops for our appetizer and it was good. Both of us ordered filet mignon cooked medium. After about 30 minutes, the waiter returned and asked if we ordered our filets medium rare. We both responded that they were both to be prepared medium. The steaks were prepared rare. They were very tender and tasty but too rare for both of us. We ordered the same desserts and he brought different desserts. It seemed like the restaurant was more interested in catering to their happy hour crowd in the bar. We will not return.

This was the best meal we have had in a very long time! We had the King’s Table 3 course meal. I started with the pumpkin veloute and it was a sumptuous contrast of a silky base with earthy mushrooms and truffles and crispy toasted pumpkin seeds. The pesto complimented the earthy broth and the flavour lingered until the entree. The lamb sirloin was the best lamb I have had since a little pub in the tiny Welsh village of Trefriw in the Brecon Beacons. It was perfectly medium, juicy and unctuous. There was a rich smoky char on one side and it was served with slightly sweet jus that tempered the richness of the lamb. The finale was a perfectly smooth cheesecake contrasted by lovely, crisp pistachios. From start to finish this was one of the best meals I have ever had and it was worth every penny!
We might be eating KD and wieners until New Years, but this meal was definitely worth it. We will be back!

A really fantastic meal! Steaks were cooked well and the service was relaxed and attentive. Sat on the lounge side and the dining room looked great too. Went for the half priced wine night which was a nice surprise.

We ate here two nights in a row. Food was gorgeous both times but slightly patchy service... we were told we had to keep our cutlery from the starter to use for the main, wouldn't have thought it was too hard to give us fresh ones. On the second night we were asked if we wanted all the food together and said no we wanted it as starter and mains but they still bought the mains before we had even finished the starter. It made us feel rushed. They also tried to sit us in the noisy bar when we had booked the restaurant. So overall the food was absolutely gorgeous and I would recommend but maybe improve the service a little.

We came here for a birthday dinner and Faith was wonderful and had great recommendations. We had the bread and butter board which was delicious. The saffron risotto was also a hit! The cured beef bagel was a unique treat. All of the cocktails were divine, and Faith and the rest of the crew here was wonderful about allergies and accommodating us. Would return and would recommend!

I love bringing family and customers to The Stirling lounge. Food is always exceptional and service is outstanding. It's like they read my mind. January is a nice month to offer some happy hour items since the budget is a bit tight after the festive season . There was no skimping on the quality or the size of the special portions. Love the tenderloin poke bowl, homemade cauliflower bites most recently. Thanks to Faith and all the other servers whose names I don't recall at the moment.

Looking for a beautiful patio setting, gourmet quality food, superb service and great value? Check out the happy hour menu; you won’t be disappointed! The ladies thoroughly enjoyed the grilled cheese with sun dried tomato sandwiches, served alongside a tasty tomato soup. The guys savoured pork sandwiches with crispy fries. The craft beer and wine complimented our food choices. A highlight of the experience was our delightful server Antonina. She was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and attentive. This was a lovely experience and one we’d love to repeat during our next visit to Canmore.

We dropped in for a meal with another couple the other evening while vacationing in Alberta. The restaurant in the Malcolm Hotel has a nice dining atmosphere. That evening they had a solo guitarist for background music. Also being there around Robert Burns day, we watched as they piped in the haggis.
Service and wine were both great. After that, I can not say the same for the food. The food was luke warm at best. Three of us had the salmon and it was the toughest, driest, overcooked salmon I have ever eaten. The chef there obviously does not know how to cook fish. The fourth person had a pasta dish. They said their meal was ok. These are not the reviews of a meal at the prices they charge.

Ray, our waitress, came and took care of us on the 2nd floor mezzanine as we had our dog with us and could not leave her alone in the room nor could we take her into the restaurant. It was if we were in the restaurant when Ray came to our location and took our orders and delivered drinks, meals, deserts and coffee at the mezzanine booths with tables overlooking Policeman’s Creek. Ray was an outstanding server who catered to our every need at a remove location.

We drove out to Canmore for Mother's Day and had an amazing brunch at the Sterling in the Malcolm hotel.
We were seated promptly, service was excellent with refilling our drinks and removing dirty dishes. Quality of food was excellent. Omelette station, variety of hot brunch and lunch items, turkey or ham, sushi, salad, waffles with various yummy toppings, fresh whipped cream and candied pecans. Fresh squeezed orange juice and a small dessert selection. Overall, selection wasn't huge but enough of a variety that we were all satisfied and happy. Would definitely go back!

We have eaten here several times during our 3 night stay. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I need to mention Faith who served us at breakfast today. She was an absolute delight and credit to the team. We would highly recommend eating here - breakfast or evening meal. The prices are fair and the food quality is high. It was a real pleasure to eat here, thank you!
