After reading all the positive reviews we were expecting excellent sushi, and we were not disappointed.
Our meal was excellent from beginning to end...hot saki, vegetable tempura, crunchy salmon roll, lobster roll, and seared scallops.
And our server, Tatanya could not have been better and has a great sense of humor. We were there right when the restaurant opened at 5PM on a Monday evening in January, so the restaurant was not at all busy. Our food was presented in a timely but unhurried manner.
The Silver Creek Lodge (in which the restaurant is located) was somewhat difficult to find (our GPS was not quite sure where it is), and there is a one way street which is somewhat confusing, but it's worth the effort.
We read some complaints about the prices in other reviews, but we thought the prices were in line with what we pay for good sushi back home in New Jersey.

Amazing! Can’t say enough about the food and our server (Laura is our new bff). The 100% gluten free aspect was like utopia for one in our party. And I don’t eat seafood but still had plenty of options to enjoy. Laura made excellent recommendations. We enjoyed a menagerie of flavours for a great value price. The bbq pork slices were especially superb and the warmed saki was the best any of us had ever had.
Definitely a stop to make while in Canmore.

We were staying at Silver Creek Lodge and were super stoked to find this restaurant had recently re-opened and featured an entirely gluten free menu (one of my daughters has celiac disease so this was a huge bonus). The focus of the menu is Japanese with the addition of fish and chips and burger and maybe a couple of other Western items. Everything was tasty but the stand outs were probably the shrimp tempura and all of the rolls. Service was efficient and friendly and they have a large balcony with nice views of the mountains. We didn't order any alcohol but did get some high end tea and I think we spent less than $100 for four of us which seemed like a pretty good deal for an amazing meal in a tourist town.

I read all the reviews about this place and I was so excited to pick this up on our way to banff for my husband who is celiac and we thought meh. Also thought it was pricey. We got 2 orders of ginger beef, 1 ginger chicken and 1 order of salad rolls and it was almost $70. The portion sizes were not huge either. I get it is dedicated gluten free but we were not blown away and my husband hasn't had ginger beef in 4.5 years.

I was expecting an amazing meal based on these reviews. Unfortunately it was a huge let down. The staff seemed really kind but that’s about it. I spent $70 for half a cup of miso soup, 4 tempura pieces, ginger beef, and two 4 piece rolls! The food was incredibly bland. The ginger beef was very dry and salty. Only received 3 pieces of ginger in each sushi container. I wonder if they were low because most places are generous with the ginger. The food definitely does not fit the price. Thankfully we weren’t all that hungry otherwise we would’ve had to spend extra elsewhere to be stuffed.

Our server Dillon was amazing. He was so patient and accommodating as we asked for special items or questions.
The food was delicious too. I had the Green Curry and the Curry was tasty and mild. The veggies were plentiful, varied and cooked perfectly. Our son ordered the Bison Burger. Which he said was so flavorful. Plus it came with great fries. The grandkids had fries, and also shrimp tempura. Our 9 year old granddaughter said the shrimp tempura was the best she has ever eaten. Our daughter in law ordered a California roll and a Dynamite roll. She loved the waY the dynamite roll was prepared with the shrimp on top.
Dillon was able to split an order of vanilla ice cream for the kids. The adults share the cappuccino cheesecake which they loved. My husband and I shared the treacle pudding. What a treat!

We were able to be seated on the balcony in a few minutes without reservations. The food was very tasty and unlike many sushi restaurants, the portions were a pretty good size. My companion and I shared an Atlantic lobster sushi roll to start, that was great. Then he had fish and chips which he said were excellent, including the mango slaw, and really filled him up. I had another sushi roll and some tuna tataki which were both tasty, and also left me satisfied. Our server was very good. The price was reasonable for the quantity.

This was amazing. I haven’t had crunch in sushi in years since I’ve been gluten free! Our waiter Dillon was amazing, offering tips on the menu as well as local activities since we were visiting from out of town. Highly recommend!

My partner and I decided to eat here on our first night in town. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We had BBQ Pork salad rolls first which were good though my partner did pull a cilantro leaf out of half of 1 roll since it was a bit much for him. We then had a Crunchy Salmon Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. They were both good but the salmon roll was our favourite of the meal. We then had the Ginger Beef Tapas which were also good. We were pretty full at this point but then we also got desserts. My partner had the Cappuccino Cheesecake, he said it was dense with a heavy coffee taste and he really liked it. I had the Sticky Treacle Pudding and it was okay but a bit dry. Overall we really enjoyed dinner and would recommend it.

A friend of mine suggested this place. They're allergic to gluten, and this place is 100% gluten free.
It's in Canmore, so it's pricey, but the food is very good.
We had shrimp tempura, teriyaki wings and the bbq pork rice roll.
The tempura and wings were cooked perfectly - crispy and not greasy.
Be careful though, not all ingredients are listed on the menu.
The bbq pork rice roll had mint in it, and that was not listed. I just deconstructed it and picked the mint out. It tasted good after the mint was removed.

Came to eat at this restaurant for its high reviews. We ordered miso soup, bbq pork salad roll, shrimp tempura, a taste of curry, Crispy salmon roll, beef tatarke, fish & chips and noodle soup. The miso soup was cold, the bbq pork salad didnt really taste good. The beef tatarke was over cooked, salmon roll didnt taste good as well with the ginger. Just an over all disappointment considering the rating was 4.5. Friendly servers. Would not come back.

This was my second time here and it won't be the last. My friend and I came across it looking for a gluten free restaurant. The food is so good and even though my friend does not need to eat gluten free, she enjoyed it very much as well. I was so happy to find a place that had tempura, and I thought it was better than what I used to be able to eat. There are lots of items to choose from, not just a few things like a lot of other places. If you need to eat gluten free, then this is definitely the place to go, and even if you don't have to I would still recommend it. Looking forward to eating here again the next time we are in the area.

We had 8 dishes and 2 desserts, the different tastes and tectures were fantastic. The ginger beef was crisply and tender. The different sushi plates, wow. The service was excellent, great timing for the plates coming to the table. An incredible GF meal.

8 of eight were perfect number to share all the different types of sushi and tempura. Highly recommend the fries and glad we ordered two servings which came as an appetizer thankfully.....yummy! Jen was our server and accommodated our request to spilt the food cost amongst the 8 of us, but keeping separate the drinks and desserts onto each of our individual bills. T-Y Jen. The gratuity was also added which further simplified things. Jen took some great photos of us out on the balcony, which has stellar views; only wish I knew how to post one photo here. This congenial group dines out once a month and we ALL enjoyed being able to hear each other and taste share the various dishes. The Quinoa Dessert Cake looked superb and thought desserts were priced well and above my expectation.

We had tried this place several years ago and vowed to never come back. But our friends wanted to go, and the menu looked new and interesting. We were fooled. First of all, the place is very noisy. Even with no background music, the level of vocal noise is amplified due to the weird ceiling design. People are crammed in like sardines, and just so noisy. Our server was very inattentive and rather snippy. She brought out half of our food, then went and chatted with the bartender for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile we could see the food coming up from the kitchen, but she was not on top of her game. When one of our guests brought it to her attention, she got very rude and grumpy, and finally brought the rest of our food, so we could all start eating. One in our group had ordered tempura shrimp, but she brought tempura yam instead. The miso soup had been "upgraded" with pork "slices" which in total would not have amounted to more than a teaspoon of very thin pork shavings. Ridiculous. The nigiri plate was awful - the sushi rice was a blob of rice that was falling apart, and the fish was a ghastly fluorescent pink and orange. Very artificial looking. The tuna tataki was a tiny portion buried under a blob of sprouts and almost invisible. Very disappointing. It should have been a sign that the servers and all customers were white. This is not authentic Asian/Japanese food.
We won't be back.
