Visited Chez Francois Restaurant for breakfast during our recent stay in Canmore. I had the English Muffin Sandwich which came with tasty home-fried potatoes and fruit. Great portions and a bit more than I could eat. My husband had the Traditional Egg dish and opted out of the potatoes but was asked if he would like additional fruit instead. The service was good - wait staff friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable especially in view of the amount of food they give you. I would definitely come back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.

Excellent Food at a Good Price

I recently had lunch with friends at this restaurant. We had the option of choosing from the weekend 'brunch' menu or the regular lunch menu, so there were a lot of choices. The service was excellent and our waiter was quite friendly and cheerful and appeared to know the menu quite well, as he was able to answer all our questions. We found the food to be quite good and our coffee was refilled as needed. All of us quite enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere.

Disappointed this year

We were here last year and it was a much better experience. I had the Bene Poutine with Canadian back bacon. The poached egg was perfect and as requested sans hollandaise. But only one lonely thin slice of back bacon for the entire bowl. Gravy was yummy but the home fries were not crisp and the whole thing was only lukewarm. My husband had the American breakfast but the whole thing was cold - pancakes and French toast and the French toast was hard. So many interesting breakfast but probably won’t go back.

This place was recommended by a friend and I was really looking forward to it. Came on Sunday (July 26) morning for breakfast with my husband. We opted to eat inside. Waitress was friendly and took our order. Coffee came quickly. I ordered the specialty crepe which had apple, brie and ham and my husband ordered eggs Benedict with one egg. It came very fast. My crepes were very under whelming, had the consistency of a pancake not a crepe, not thin at all, Hardly any Brie and maple syrup was absorbed in the crepe. My husband said the Hollandaise sauce was cold and the home fries were cold. We didn't complain as it was busy and we were in a hurry to start our day. Unfortunately we won't be returning

This restaurant used to be a go to every time we went o Canmore. Since it moved location things have gone down hill. Gluten free waffles looks and taste life eggo waffles at an inflated price. Food being missed from your order and arriving after you have finished eating. Wrong orders. We have tried this place 3 times in the last 4 months and we wont be going back. Its gotten that bad...

I do understand you have to have a gluten free diet. It is not our specialities There is many gluten free options like the Florentine. Eggs bene on gluten free The rancheros with corn tortillas Salmon salad. Valbella sausages I am sorry we won t see you back but we are trying our best during this special time Note that our premuse is not suitable for Celliac diet Thank you for you comment we will work on being more focus. We havent change anything since we moved

It was the best breakfast I had in a long time. The Eggs Benedict was excellent, fruit was fresh, crepes were delicious, large portion size. The service was great, fast and courteous, the potatoes are cut fresh daily and nothing is made from frozen ingredients. We were allowed to change tables to be able to sit in the shade on a hot day. Thank you for the great experience.

Unfriendly server and sharp piece of plastic in food. Healthy options on menu.

Our family of four chose to visit for brunch on Mother’s Day. I was impressed with the short wait despite how busy they were with people coming and going. We only waited a few minutes before they called my name. The meals were good but I bit into a sharp piece of plastic that was in my eggs Benedict. After I flagged it to our server, he took the plastic and said that he would let the kitchen know. He never came back with an apology, no discount, and no explanation. If I had bitten that plastic spike the wrong way or swallowed it, that would have done some damage for sure. I was certainly disappointed with the experience. On top of that, the server was not personable to say the least. The entire operation seemed more concerned on moving people in and out, with more focus on the people waiting for a table than the people already seated. As for the food, it was all good other than the plastic. Hence I agree with many on the reviews on the food quality and there was a wide selection of healthy options. I should also note that the servers at other tables looked much more friendly, refilling coffee and water rather than ignoring the customers. It could be that we simply stumbled across the one unfriendly server and then had some bad luck with the plastic. I wouldn’t go back but I can imagine others might have come across a more pleasant experience, especially if it was less crowded when they visited. My wife and children enjoyed their meals so we still had a good time overall.

good service, fast served and great breakfast menu. homemade cretons is a blast! The roasted potatoes were not those half frozen one you get served too often in family restaurant. I was recommended to try the Quebec combo and I wasn't disappointed. The chef takes the time to prepare his plate. Server was friendly and efficient.

I read the reviews of this place and was excited to try it on my last day in Canmore, as eggs Benny is my absolute favorite meal. I had asked for my eggs poached medium, but they were just a shade away from being raw. I could deal with that, but they also weren't hot and one of the muffins was soggy (maybe the egg wasn't drained enough?). Hollandaise sauce was quite tasty, though, and service was swift and friendly.

Fantastic Breakfast

We knew we were in for a tough drive so we wanted a really good breakfast. That is exactly what we received here. I ordered pancakes with berry compote. The pancakes were fluffy, the compote not too sweet with blackberries and strawberries. I usually do not like hash browns but these we crisp and very tasty so they quickly disappeared off my plate! I always judge how good the coffee is on whether I need milk and sugar, I enjoyed drinking this black. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I wouldn’t hesitate to stop there for breakfast. Great food, good value

Disappointed Visit

I have been here many times and always enjoyed the food and service. My family and I have some allergies that have always been accommodated; however, today even though there was only one other table, my fruit allergy could not be accommodated. I was told they would not be able to offer me any fruit to be cut on a separate surface with a separate knife and this would be extended to vegetables as well. Therefore, the only option was eggs with an english muffin (which I could have prepared at home). I find it hard to believe that a vegetable such as onions would be cut on the same surface and with the same knife as a citrus fruit for example. I have never had this issue before at any other place. I am disappointed with this one experience after so many pleasant brunches here in the past.

Unpleasant billing experience on New Year's Day

Just the two of us had a great breakfast until the server gave us a bill. She came back with a revised bill, 18% gratuity added without our consent and when using the chip terminal for my visa card, she added another 30 cents at the checkout. We ended up paying 19% gratuity at the end. We also had to ask for maple syrup 3 times. We weren't very happy with our experience especially on the first day of the new year.

Hey, we are sorry to hear that. We usually include the gratuities on the busiest days of the year like New Years day, Mother's day or Christmas night, and let the customer know when we bring the bill, but it is your right to tell the server that she or he might did a mistake by adding more to your bill. Technology is not always perfect. I hope that you enjoyed your meal... be aware that we dont add or include gratuities on ANY other day of the year, it is always to your discretion. Have a wonderfull day, we hope to have the chance to serve you again

Best breakfast ever!

First time at this restaurant as we were looking for a place to go for breakfast before heading home. The menu is incredible with a large variety of very unique dishes. Most delicious, crispy breakfast potatoes. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.

We didn’t realize this restaurant was located in the quality inn and by looking at the menu online we were excited about the variety of options for food sensitivities and so decided to order take our for breakfast. We were extremely disappointed with the food quality. We had 5 dishes total plus orange juice and coffee. The orange juice was disgusting and everyone ended up tossing their orange juice. Out of our 5 dishes 1 was not even edible and had to be thrown out (Traditional breakfast with eggs and bacon) and the other 4 were edible but not good at all. Would definitely never return or recommend.

A wonderful place for breakfast. We were out on the patio and enjoyed the mid-September weather while we dined. I selected the Montreal Smoked Meat benny, two poached eggs on delicious smoked meat, with homemade hollandaise, English muffin, homestyle potatoes & fresh fruit. that is a winner, delicious. My wife chose the Spinach and Bechamel crepes, two crepes filled with sautéed spinach, parmesan, and cheddar cheese topped with Bechamel sauce with homestyle potatoes and fresh fruit. Service was attentive and friendly, coffee was refilled promptly, and it is a must-go place in Canmore.
