Quality and very tasteful food!! The manager is just that, he's always doing something from ensuring your food is what you expected, to hosting, in the kitchen, etc... We showed up (without a reservation) after a long day in Banff N.P. about 7:30 P.M., 30...minutes before closing (we didn't realize they closed that day at 8 P.M.) and we were not shooed away. They were 100% full and actually the manager and hostess offered to seat us as soon as they had an opening. In the mean time they wheeled out a heater where we could wait outside on their patio. Their friendliness a politeness is far above and beyond most places. The menu is one page, succinct and to the point; the menu is very carefully planned with no superfluous fillers (i.e. chicken 20 different ways). The menu is well rounded with a bit of everything for most anyone. The food here is unique to say the least such as the soup I ordered, (I believe it was almond & broccoli) I never heard of it and it was EXCELLENT. Under 'Soup of the Day' you'll see 'Featured Creation'. I also had the 'Chicken Marsala' a bit mainstream in title but definitely not taste, it was the best I've ever had. There were three of us, we each ordered soup, two small plates and a main each and wow... we just couldn't finish. The portions are just how you'd make it at home, no shortcuts here. This is a bit outside downtown (not walking distance) Canmore but, do not let that fool you. The Market Bistro is a MUST.More

We were a group of 4 and everyone LOVED their dinner. The eggplant dish was really loved. We also got the chicken marsala, pollo penne, and a prawn/shellfish dish. It was really enjoyed and we complimented the chef.More

My husband and I were driving to Banff and happened upon this bistro. This little bistro was amazing!!!! The food was excellent. I got the Arribiatta penne and it was the best I’ve ever had; the sauce was so good, and I live in land...of Italian food!! We actually came back to eat here for lunch on our way back to Calgary. The staff is very friendly and service was great. Highly recommend!!More

Upscale casual restaurant. The Capri salad consisted of tomatoes sandwhiched between small thin pieces of moseralla, so that you could barely see the cheese. The balsamic vinegar was good though. The steak salad consisted of steak on top of a small portion of grilled vegetables,...and soggy crutons. The vegetables and crutons were all smothered in an over-powering sour cream sauce. My wife was not impressed with her salmon and shrimp dish. The beer was good. The restaurant was clean. The food presentation and temperature were average. Such amazing food and a really nice server. It didn’t feel touristy at all which is always a concern in a mountain town. We had the prawn risotto, mushroom risotto, and penne pollo and all were great. The drinks were very reasonably priced as well...- will definitely be back the next time we’re in town 🙂More

Our dinner at Market Bistro was really exceptional. Sitting outdoors in a cozy setting, we received great service from our waitress, Charu. The cocktails were excellent, and our entrees, of which we chose Italian dishes, were high quality. The pasta was homemade with fresh ingredients,...with pleasing presentation. Charu was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menus, and it was so nice to talk with her!More

We stayed in Canmore while visiting Banff National Park for a week. When we first arrived the front desk personnel recommended the Market Bistro to us as we had been traveling all day we just wanted to stay close and grab a bite to eat....This seemed to be more of a local's eatery rather than tourists. Our meals that first night were excellent with good service and easy parking. We enjoyed it so much that we went back three more times during our stay for dinner. Each time we went we had something different. All excellent. Talking with one of the servers (Charu) we were told that it is a family run restaurant. Kudos to this family for their excellent menu and presentation. I highly recommend the Market Bistro!More

Reservation at 6:30 pm and got a table in the corner that was so hot we moved when another table was available. Waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged and another 20 minutes to get our beverages. Appetizers arrived another 20 minutes after that and main...course another 20 minutes. Food is average, at best. Chicken Marsala did not have any Marsala flavor but some other pasty flavor. It didn’t appear that the staff knew how to run a restaurant. Might suggest another place until this one gets their processes in place.More
