Came here as a group of 4 on a friday night, we waited about 15 mins to get in, and once they took our order it took 40mins to receive our food. So the service was very slow unfortunately. But the food was very good and the portions were great, none of us were able to finish and we all had to go boxes. The poutine burger and the brisket sandwich are very good.

The Grizzly Paw is a popular local pub/restaurant and brewery located on the main street in Canmore. I visited for dinner during my recent stay in Canmore in September 2020.
After waiting about 10 minutes in line, I was able to get a seat at the bar. The restaurant was very busy during the dinner time hours and the tables and patio seating were full and had much longer wait times. Would suggest making a reservation.
I ordered the vegetarian black bean burger with gluten free bun and fries, along with a local Rock Creek cider. Everything tasted fantastic! The burger patty was pretty crumbly though and was quite messy as it was falling apart. I found the prices to be a bit high.
The service was friendly and efficient and I enjoyed my meal.

First meal after a 3 day backcountry camping trip and I’m sure glad we chose this restaurant!! I’ve always loved their Grumpy Bear beer so I really wanted to try the restaurant. We had the sampler set of beer ($10), fish n’ chips — the fish was awesome, not overly breaded and the fish was tasty; and the new normal burger which my partner enjoyed! I appreciated the waitress’s diligence in checking with the kitchen re: my peanut and nut allergy and reporting back to me. Unfortunately the buns for the burger (which was my first choice) has a “may contain traces of” — it would be nice if they had a second option bun for peanut/nut allergies as I’d love to enjoy one of their burgers. Otherwise, all was great!

Six days in Canmore, and this was the only unpleasant, unwelcoming restaurant. We were seated upstairs where the seemingly idle waiter gave us a skeptical, rather puzzled, look before wandering over 10 minutes later. Like....what are you doing here? Because we were famished, we ordered just one fish and chips and passed it around. The breading was enormous. Once prodded, there was a little bitty, semi-frozen fish piece hidden in there. We couldn't wait to leave.

Good beer, god awful food!
Went here for lunch with a friend had the special tacos and wings.. tacos were dry and flavorless the sauce barely had any notable flavor either. The wings were extremely
Bland and had no flavor..no distinguishable hot flavor not even franks.. wont come again, but their beer is good to take home and enjoy with a delicious home cooked meal.

I ordered the brisket sandwich and was extremely disappointed. The bun was so soggy to the point that is was disgusting. The whole bottom of the bun felt and tasted as if it was soaked in water. I don’t know how this ended up coming to the table. I ended up eating the brisket separately from the buns. I told the waitress about the issue and I still ended up paying full price for a bun that was nauseating.
Bright side, the drinks were great and server was friendly.

We were undecided about where to eat in Canmore but we happened upon this place on a Wednesday evening. My husband ordered their "Normal Burger" and a beer and I had their Chicken Burger. Both were excellent. The bill came and we noticed they charged less than expected for my husbands burger and the beer was not charged for. We pointed this out to the waitress and she told us it was the Wednesday Special and the price included the beer. What a nice surprise.

My beautiful wife and I were in town for a visit and had seen the place when driving around down town. The first time during the summer it was packed, and we couldn’t get in. This time it was much quieter and we got in just after lunch. Parking is tough usually anywhere downtown because this little place is always busy. Looks a little different in the off season with out the patio full of people and the heat of summer gives a totally different feel. But it is very well set up, even an upstairs area for seating. The service was ok, the menu was also ok. Not that big, and not 100’s of items, but a good selection for everyone to find something. My wife had a steak sandwich and I ordered the 622 burger. Her steak was tender, but full of gristle, but tasted ok. My burger was ok, very messy. My poutine was in a soup of gravy, tasted ok .. just not amazing in any way. The place has tons of curb appeal when it’s full of people enjoying the summer sun it is definitely a attention getter. But it was rather pricey and the food just didn’t justify the cost. Glad we stopped, probably try somewhere else next time we are in town... this place has lots to offer

I hope they know what an amazing secret weapon they have, the server Tim. I am a server myself (a very good one if I might add) and It’s rare that I find someone better than me at my craft. He was polite, went above and beyond for our family, knew EVERYTHING about every beer and food item, he was prompt, And even got me a new meal when mine was unsatisfactory. He handled the entire patio himself like a champ. THANK YOU for the awesome time. The raspberry beer was fantastic.
Things the restaurant could improve on:
- description on the menu (the club salad was not at all how described on the menu [smoked bacon was chunks of pork chop/ vinegraitte was straight lemon,Chicken was dry and grey] and neither really was the chickpea dish). But like I said they were more than happy to get me a new dish
- A little overpriced. Not sure why I’m paying 20$ for 8 chicken wings.

I ordered the veggie burger and it was inedible and overdone to the point that it was crumbling apart it was so dry. It was overloaded with CUMIN spice....possibly the chefs dancing behind the doors were high on MJ? Drinks were average, didn't order a beer/probably should have considering the rest.. might have gained a higher rating if so! Bill was around $100 and I could have easily spent this on a proper meal from another resto.

We stopped in here our first night in Canmore. We each got a flight of beers. Each of them were really good. My favourite was the Rutting Elk Red, my fiancé also tried one of their seasonal beers which was pumpkin flavoured which was also good, but a bit different. I had their Nashville chicken sandwich, which had great flavour! I really liked the cucumber salad on it. Ryan had the BBQ chicken wings, flavour was good but they were served on the cold side, and he didn’t enjoy the drum to flat ratio (too many drums, not enough flats). Would definitely hit this place up for some more beers, good location if you are staying downtown too, easily able to walk to and from accommodations.

what the hell. took around 4 hours, one hour for seating kids first then 30 minutes after the adults came ( all arrived same time ). then they served 2 people food and the rest 10 minutes after, then when we asked for the paycheck it took a hour 30 min.

We’ve been here several times, as their burgers are great. Covid aside, front staff need to work on their greeting skills. Arrived for a food pick up at designated young lady didn’t even lift her head from the front pedestal. She asked for a name then said “ k thanks wait outside “. 10 min go by, 15, 20 from scheduled pick up time, I go in and the bartender asks if I need a hand. I say I’m waiting for food, he says I’ll go check, comes back and said maybe 10 more min... young lady comes back and ask can I help you? She didn’t remember seeing me 20 min ago, probably because she didn’t lift her head. Bartender brought the food out to me, 25 min after pick up time, no utensils or condiments inside when we got back to our hotel..... understanding its Covid but it wasn’t the supper rush, was 3 pm on a Thursday . Keep trying to get better

Wasn’t the best wasn’t the worst. Our drinks took about 15-20 minutes to arrive. We arrived about 1130 but we’re a party of 9. We ordered a few Caesars and a coke. We then sat with empty drinks after our first round until our food came. One person in our party got the veggie burger with the kale Caesar salad. The burger wasn’t very good but it’s a veggie burger. The bacon in the Caesar was raw. The server informed us it was smoked twice and then fried so it couldn’t be raw. See pics below. Also added chicken to one of the salads and the chicken was raw. The chicken that was cooked was tasteless. No salt and pepper provided. The corn “chowder” was not a chowder it was maybe a corn broth? Probably wouldn’t eat here again. Super expensive for what you get as well. Fish tacos were bland. Spinach dip was great but very overpriced for what you get. Maybe we’ll just try the beer next time.

On September 12, 2020 my girlfriend and I accompanied by another couple dined at the Grizzly Paw restaurant in Canmore. We have been previous patrons and always enjoyed the food and experience, however this dining experience was top-notch and absolutely amazing start to finish.
We were tended to by Haley, who was professional, understanding, and ensured our dining needs were never in question. The food we ordered was absolutely outstanding and exceed any previous expectations or deliverables we had prior to the experience.
I've worked in the industry for a decade previously and I can honestly say that this experience was one of the best overall restaurant experiences I have had to date. I proudly support, advocate for, and suggest that all try the Grizzly Paw when they have the opportunity - you won't be disappointed.
