If you want the best chicken mango wrap you must get Sam at the Fart Cafe in Whitby to make it for you. It’s absolutely delicious. I love this place. I’ve been frequenting it for about 4 years. Always had excellent food and service. The people who own and run it are wonderful and very friendly. It’s the best! Sue

Arrived around noon for brunch and it wasn't long before the place got busy, and this was mid week. When entering we were greeted by 2 super friendly ladies. Our main server was Phoebe and she was full of passion. She went over the menu and was quick with our drinks. We started with the 3 scones and home made jams/preserves. The scones came out warm and they were light and flakey. It came with 3 jams, raspberry, blueberry and peach. All were delicious, although it did taste like the peach had a little more sugar. We both had the mini breakfast, my mother had the ham and I had the bacon. I'm very particular with my bacon, and asked them to cook it soft. I got just what I was looking for. It came out perfect. Some places don't really listen, and this was spot on. We also brought home some pea soup for my father (he's the only one that likes it). He really enjoyed this as well, he said it had a little kick to it. There was also a generous amount of ham, they were not stingy. The staff here were all amazing. There is lots of art work up on the walls that you can purchase. If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out.

I have been very disappointed with the local restaurants that serve breakfast. A friend recommended we try the F.A.R.T. for breakfast. I was very pleased with the service and the food is the best I have tasted in a long time. It is fresh, hot, plenty of food and even a homemade scone with homemade jam. How wonderful is that.

Two Sunday breakfasts. Once you get past the grade school humour and snickers a waitress enters the orders on a touch screen and gushes about the food and your orders and is 11 on a scale of 10 throughout the meal. The actual server does not know who ordered what. I tried a ham and cheese omlet which was done on the flat top and was very oily. They fold it in half, not thirds so the fillings spill out. The ham tasted packeged and the marbled cheese was tastless. The “seasoned” homefries are cubes, some burnt, some almost raw, with no detectable seasoning. The signiture scone is crumbly, cake like, and only afterwards we are told you could substitute toast. Second breakfast a week later was plain french toast. No whipped cream, no icing sugar, no ice cream, no chocolate and apparently that means no egg batter. Pieces of warm bread and syrup. Side of bacon was 3 thin pieces of ordinary meat for $5.09 inc HST. I know restaurant margins are tight but so is my budget and this is no bargin. The coffee was OK and everyone else in the place appeared to enjoy the food and banter with enthusiasm. I will not be going back.

The food and service are okay. We went there because we were given a gift card. When we went to pay for our meal, the restaurant management refused to accept it and said that it was from previous owners. The card was theirs (not generic) with the restaurant name and logo on it. This was very poor customer relations on their part. Beware if you have a gift card!

My friends and I went to The Food and Art Cafe (FART Cafe, just love that name, lol) for the third time today for brunch and can't say enough about what a great experience it was. The cafe is quaint and interesting.. The eggs were perfectly poached, the bacon crispy and light and as for the scones, yum, yum! As always the service was great. This is a family owned business and they are just lovely. Walking in there is like going into a friend's home, they are so kind and welcoming. The owner is an artist, hence the name Food and Art and some of her excellent pieces are on the walls. I'm looking forward to my next visit to this awesome spot.

This restaurant, nicknamed F-ART, is that! For whatever reason, the day we went, 4 staff members had called in that they were unavailable. So, although we arrived before our scheduled time of 12:00 and ordered coffee first, it was 12:40 before we received our coffee. Having waited until 1:00 and our meals still hadn't arrived, we left. Sorry but, we did not pay for our coffees! I guess the take-out order for 12 people was more valuable than a table order for 3. Understaffed - OK. If we had been told we had to wait an hour, we would have left earlier OR waited patiently. However, 'just 5 more minutes' every 10 minutes didn't sit well.

I had lunch today with a friend, service was great, Phoebe looked after us. Ordered a western omelette. It arrived, looked fabulous. But when I went to take my first forkful, there was a thick black hair in it. Not mine, I have long blonde hair. Brought it to her attention. food was replaced. My friend's meal was fine. When I was paying the bill, she mentioned that my coffee was free because I was kept "waiting for my lunch", and I thought, wasn't it because I had a hair in my food?? Just hoping they are more careful next time, maybe a free meal might have been in order and hair nets in the kitchen.

Where else can you get a chai milkshake with a shot of kahlua and pumpkin bread french toast? The food here is decadent and delicious, no matter what you order. My personal favourite is the Waffle sandwich (bacon, egg, lettuce, and a blueberry vinaigrette) and my husband always pretends he's going to order something new before selecting the stuffed french toast. Legitimately speaking - the only bad reviews I have ever seen about this place are from people who say that the servers are too cheerful. I disagree - I always feel like I have run into a long lost friend who is super happy to see me, and I always leave with a smile on my face. Everyone gets a fun and funky colouring sheet, the food is typically pretty speedy. My only negative thing to say is that this is everyone's favourite breakfast spot, so if you aren't there first thing, you're probably waiting for a table...but the food is worth the wait!

Fantastic breakfast. Had the Mini FART. The eggs were smooth, soft and silky. Tasty bacon, lightly seasoned delicious home fries, and a melt in your mouth homemade scone with homemade peach jam. Coffee also very good. The service was friendly and attentive. I recommend you contact them for reservations.

We're repeat customers at the FART Café because their food is so darned good and we're kind of addicted to the home fries. Today, I opted for chai masala instead of coffee and, all I can say is, WOW!! It was made from scratch and it was full of all the spicy flavours expected in a chai. I really like Starbucks chai latté and this chai was in another class. Goodbye coffee. Hello chai masala!

First time visiting Food +Art, after hearing/ reading such great reviews. My family and I were not disappointed. The service was amazing and the food even better . Our server, along with the rest of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely phenomenal, fresh, and left me in a food coma when I got home. The atmosphere and decor were unique, just adding to the overall experience. This is by far one of the best restaurants I've been to in Durham region . I will be back for sure.

Was there for lunch today for the first time (Covid reopening!) A friend had recommended it and I was very glad she did. We were greeted by the most friendly girl who also served us. So pleasant and upbeat! And the food! I had the mac and cheese with smoked bacon that came with a spinach/blueberry salad. So rich and delicious, I brought half home and I have a big appetite. My friends had eggs benedict and vegetarian omelet and everything looked delicious. Can't wait to go back.

I Love Fart! The food is so good! Gotta try the banana French toast! The scones with the homemade jams are delicious. I love how they showcase local artists that you can support and buy their art and the kids have fun colouring pages. It’s a family run business and the servers are super friendly. Such a fun unique one of a kind restaurant for brunch with great staff, the only thing is I wish they had a larger space.
