This is seriously a great local place if you want craft beer, seriously good pizza and food. Prices are very reasonable. Service is excellent. Highly recommended

Came here on a Saturday, and we were lucky to get a seat. This is a very busy place. I would highly recommend reservations. We started with the Table/Garlic bread and it came out piping hot and was fluffy and tasty. They have a wood...burning oven, so we ordered some pizza's. We opted to build our own, and when they came out they were perfect, thin crust and not over done or loaded. The slices had a great cheese pull while eating. The flavor was excellent and we enjoyed the pizza's, We shared the Sticky Toffee pudding, it was good, but I will say I have had better. The menu however is more than just pizza. We saw so many other dishes that came out that looked fabulous. Which only means I need to go back several times to work my way thru the menu.More

While I have reviewed Hot Rocks before, I thought I would send out reviews of locations during this trying times. They follow good protocol to keep every one safe. Service is friendly and prompt. The food we had was also very good, including the muscles...(get extra bread for dipping in the sauce). Drinks were nice and cold as was the drinking water that they kept full.More

Cozy place. Good customer service. We reserved a table for four March 29th, 2021. Shared a nice healthy beet salad with my niece. My only suggestion on the menu item I ordered (& it could be a personal preference) is the amount of Batter on...the Coconut shrimp. I love a coconut shrimp with a nice light crisp coconut on the outside and a Chili THAI dip. They don't have either. The batter on the shrimp is very thick. Not my favourite Coconut style shrimp. Would definitely order their pizza next time. They have the real stone pizza oven in house.More

Great job to the staff and management for making this restaurant an enjoyable and relaxing place to dine at on the patio during this pandemic. All proper distancing measures and having the servers explain procedures, definitely made it a comfortable place to enjoy our dinner....It is unfortunate that we had to see a couple giving a server a difficult time. Please, if you aren’t ready to dine out yet, and are going to be rude to the staff, so ya all a favour and stay home or order take out. Food and service were amazing! Excited to go back, as are our two young boys,; who devoured two of the white chocolate brownies for dessert! 🤤 Thank you!! 10/10More

As the atmosphere is beautiful inside and very elegant. The food lacked lustre especially the pizzas which they specialized in. Service was just ok, we were forgot about when we received our bills. Best thing was the creme brûlée. Overall everything just meh:(

I ordered Shrimp on the Rocks with a side order of mixed vegetables. A very small sizzling rock is delivered with the raw shrimp, the shrimp barely fit on it. By the time hte shrimp were cooked, (I had to do them in batches as...they kept falling off), the rock wasn't very hot, and my vegetables also kept falling off as it was so small. I assumed I would only be cooking the shrimp and would not have ordered the side of vegetables had I known I had to cook them too. When I mentioned that to the waitress she flippantly answered "That's what you get at Hot Rocks". My friend and I both found the waitress who served us a bit rude and didn't really care about our meal or service. My friend ordered the Compressed Watermelon Salad, with a sides of shrimp and salmon and dessert, Creme Brulee, served in the tiniest ramekin dish I've ever seen. She did not have a drink, not even coffee. Her salad (including the two pricey sides) barely filled a medium sized plate (how big was it without the sides??). Her meal was $40. Mine, of which I only ate the shrimp, the vegetables were too high maintenance and the rock wasn't hot any more. When our waitress took my plate away, she made no comment on how I hadn't eaten the vegetables. (again, didn't care). We both felt the service was poor, the quality of what we paid for and received extremely over priced. there is a lot of dining competition in Whitby, my friend and I try a new restaurant every week. We will not return to Hot Rocks.More

We frequent this lovely establishment about two or three times a year, usually for their delicious pizza but decided on something different this time. I had the snapper which was a special they had on and my husband had the bacon burger. My fish was...very good and came with a good sized portion of asparagus, tangy relish and rice. My husband's burger was outstanding! I wished I had ordered that after I had a bite. They grind their own brisket and grind the bacon right into the mixture. It was so darn delicious I want to go back soon just for that. The burger came with really fresh, extremely hot fries which were also tasty. The place was very busy for a Wednesday night so reservations would be a good idea. We were amazed at all the families with babies that were there. It's so nice seeing that babies can be accommodated in a nice bistro type restaurant. I seem to remember having to eat at boring big box chain restaurants when our children were little. Yet, if you want a cozy dinner for two this place is perfect too. We didn't have room for dessert but we know that they make their own fresh desserts daily, particularly cheesecake, which changes every day.More

Please reserve before you head out there. We just walked in and end up sitting by the bar area which isn't that bad. Food got delayed, pizza was bit expensive for an average taste.

Went out to dinner here recently to try an establishment that we had never been to before. Right from the first moment we were in the door we were greeted warmly by an attractive hostess and given a great table near the window. The restaurant...inside is wonderfully decorated and appointed, much larger than it seems from the outside. The space exudes a warm ambiance and energy, with servers moving around quickly, and cooks that crowd the open fire oven with wooden paddle's making pizza after pizza. Just after we were seated, water was immediately delivered to the table. From there the great service continued, with refills of soft drinks brought to you even before you could ask. Dishes were never cleared before all guests had finished eating and permission to do so asked and granted. The server was warm and sincere and a pleasure to speak to. No attitude like I have seen elsewhere, this professional truly did her job to a high level of perfection. We had the Nashville Chicken and Wood FIred Pizza. (pictures enclosed) Both great. Pizza could have been a little more done, so maybe next time I will ask for well done but it was good and made from top quality ingredients. Salting/spicing was correct throughout the dishes. Then desert, a great chocolate creation. All in all we have discovered a gem here. I will be back for sure, and I suggest you give it a try too.More

We’ve passed this location many times and I believe my partner has been in here just once several years ago. We’ve been meaning to go back but just never got around to it. Glad we finally did. Three people attending – two had delicious oven...fired pizza’s and the third had an excellent club sandwich. Because of the time of day we visited it was not very busy but that took nothing away from the food or the service – both excellent. Highly recommend.More
