This place has a fun retro atmosphere, and the staff was very good despite the fact that they were short staffed on the night we stopped by (about a month ago). The menu is extensive with lots of choices. The food overall was meh. The Deconstructed Lasagna had a bland sauce, The Portobello Mushroom Grill on a rustic bun had tasty grilled veggies but the goat cheese seemed to be a lower quality one. There were 4 of us and we all found our food to be mediocre. The exception was the Oreo milkshake which apparently was great. The food is only okay and there are much better places to eat.

I remember when the portions were huge and the prices were reasonable. Now the prices are huge and the portions are ALOT smaller. Cheese logs are little rectangles and you only get 4 for $13 🧐 fajitas they don’t even fill the sizzling skillet that comes to your table. Don’t get me wrong the food tastes great and the atmosphere is still wonderful.

Ordered food through Uber eats. The packaging was excellent. Sealed, tamper proof. Everything was fresh and hot, just like if you ordered at the restaurant. Followed directions and portions were great Excellent

Went with my two granddaughters and their friend. The decor is classic dinner and well done. Excellent diner look but that's not all I expect from a restaurant. First issue was my glass of water had some sticky residue on the outside that i didn't notice at first since I was using a straw and drank half the glass - pretty disgusting. told the waitress and she said I'll get you another as if it was no issue - it was a big issue for me. Now the food. My granddaughter and her friend and friend ordered the chicken fingers and my other granddaughter ordered mac and cheese and a poutine. I ordered the steak wrap. Firstly they said the fingers were good however they only got two small strips. so portion was weak. The Mac and cheese was very cheezy however the cheese was not properly melted and was clumpy. The poutine was similar the curds were not properly melted and had really poor visual appeal and tasted ok but was not warm enough. Not well prepared at all. Now my steak and onions with fries... the fries were OK and although the steak within the wrap was good the whole thing was just dripping in grease. I believe whatever they fried the onions in was dumped in. Why they didn't drain off the grease baffles me. It was all mediocre to poor. I would guess the bar is the main focus for the restaurant however if it's half decent food you want not sure you'll find it here.

I finally decided to go to the hyped up 50's/60's diner, to which I was surprised at the authenticity of the decor and the politeness of the staff. It was clean and not too loud, seats and photos on the wall helped create a true old style diner feel. The staff was quick to take orders and attended to everything perfectly. Unfortunately the fish and chips I got was mediocre at best, and my gf's pasta smelled like old socks, and she wasn't able to eat it without gagging. We loved the atmosphere just the food fell very short.

My mom had the meatloaf but refused to eat it, she said it looked like leftover food rolled into these elongated balls lol. It tasted ok but it had more breadcrumbs than meat. The maple bacon wings were not for me, they smelled so strong.. I had the wings and payed a few extra dollars for a side salad, she didnt give me the veggies and dip that always accompanied the wings..but said she could get some but would charge me more money for them. The air was blasting, the waitress ignored us when we brought it up. So we sat in the cold eating cold food.

Visited Melanie Pringles in Whitby last night with a friend. The place was packed. Good food with large portions from an extensive menu and excellent service from the waitress. After eating, headed over to the bar section and listened to a very talented group " Soulbound". Great night!

Love that this restaurant can still serve excellent food after all these years. Our meals were great. Would love a bigger draft selection including local craft beers. Server was great as well.

Covid protocals were not adhered to. We were allowed to be seated before being checked for proof of vaccine. That means if you were unvaccinated you could enter inside take masks off while seated indoors before being checked. Also people were wandering around with no masks. This is why Covid spreads.

We went here last night after my 16 year old daughter suggested it; we hadn’t been it over a year and it used to be a regular for us as a family. She was craving their fajitas so we decided to make a girls night of it. We got there around 6:30 and it was pretty steady. We were given a seat immediately and our soft drinks came right afterwards. It took another 10 minutes or so for our waitress to come back and take our order. As implied, my daughter ordered the fajitas (chicken) and I ordered chicken wings. From there things were relatively a flop. Our waitress never came back and our food took 30-35 minutes to arrive. My daughter didn’t get her fajita fixings ahead of time so had to wait another 2-3 minutes for them to arrive. Her chicken was a TINY portion and was over-cooked. She was really disappointed. My wings weren’t terrible but they also weren’t good. They were not hot (temperature wise) either. We were starving so ate the food but both agreed that on this particular visit things weren’t great. It was really disappointing actually as we used to love coming here. We did not complain, we just summed it up to a “bad night”. The waitress gave us 50% off the fajitas for having to wait so long, but the bill was still $40 for a sub-par meal. Not sure what else to say, not sure if we’ll go back.

Always a pleasant visit. Melanie is always there with a smile and a welcome! A great place to eat and share conversation and drinks. Staged like a 50’s diner. The food is always fresh and plenty on your plate. It is a go to place with the locals and everyone is always welcome. Melanie has been in business for years: so yourself a favour and visit Melanie Pringle’s!

First time a Melanie Pringles. There are two sections one with a bar and seats for eating and one with just an eating area. The bar area is loud and the eating area has a medium noise level. Not quiet but energized. Table ordered a roast beef au jus sandwich with kettle chips and the chicken wing special with fries. Kettle chips came warm and were good, the roast beef dip sandwich had grizzle in it and was disgusting to bite into. Do not understand the person putting this together would not take care to make it edible. French fries were like eating cardboard. If you want good fries go to Big Bone BBQ in Whitby. Chicken wings were good with lots of choice of toppings. So mixed feeling about first visit to this restaurant. Will try once more, but order something else.

If we ever return, it will be for drinks at the bar only. I’ve been a few times over the years and it’s NOTHING like it was when I was a kid growing up. Tonight’s visit finalized that. It was about 8:15 and not overly busy... went in and waited a few minutes before being seated. Finally, a young man came to the front to seat us. Our server came after about ten minutes and took our drink orders... she got the drinks fairly quickly and took our orders for dinner. The food took about 25 minutes to get to us and it was mediocre to say the least. I got fish and chips and the fish seemed like a slightly larger version of Captain Highliner’s that had been deep fried in a vat of two day old grease...Not good at all. My daughter had the spinach and mushroom grilled cheese... with grease dripping off it, and my son had a “meh” burger and fries. Portions were not great... not horrible but not great either considering the price. We were finished eating at about 9:15-9:20. The server stopped by just shortly before that and noticed we were just about done... but then that was it. We waited...and waited and waited and waited... got up, walked around looking for SOMEONE who could just get us the bill so we could leave. Finally our server decided to show up to our table (and she was apologetic) at 9:50 or so. 30-35 minutes after we had finished our meal. Just not a good overall experience at all. The food was garbage and the service was a close second to that. I’ve visited on two other occasions in the past ten years, hoping for some sort of improvement and it just seems to be getting worse. It’s too bad because we always used to be so excited as kids to go here in the 80s and 90s. It used to be so good and a lot of fun. The only thing left that’s decent is the decor. The decor and atmosphere has always been so great and a definite highlight to this restaurant in defining it. It’s too bad the rest of it seems to have been let go.
