A great place for us seniors and others

We are unfamiliar with this area but relied on our navigation system to list all the nearby restaurants. Based on the previous reviews we chose the Blue Star Restaurant. The outside appearance is a bit deceiving as the interior was clean and spacious. The meal was great, and plentiful too with a reasonable price.

Nice friendly atmosphère. Home made soups and cabbage rolls. Waitress and owners friendly and want you be satisfied. Always careful of my food allergy. Quiet no big screen TV in the dining room which is great as we were ablevto chat and relax

Good food. I remember when the restaurant was across the street I was very young. My mother worked there when the grandfather owned it. Long time ago. The owners are very nice knew Mr. plentai but the one daughter that managed it was not very nice.

This is a breakfast joint and nothing more

Lets start by saying they have good breakfast, true and serve coffee well. For lunch and dinner their service is really atrocious, doesn't seem like they care who walks in and out, they often don't give you any time of day unless you command it. their food is really bad, they serve this thing called a hot beef sandiwch for 11.99$ , its 2 soggy pieces of wonderbread covered in watery gravey and then inbetween is 2 quite large pieces of overcooked soggy beef that is cold unless you eat it within 2 minutes of being served. No fries or anything, but comes with some disgusting peas! stay away from everything but the poutine if you have to eat here, you''ll thank me later

Best cabbage rolls in town!

Breakfast here is great...prices include coffee...they offer not just bacon and breakfast sausage but also Polish and Italian sausage. Before we leave we always pick up a half dozen cold cabbage rolls (means they don't charge tax) to go....great balance of pork and rice. We love 'em!

Never Again

Got bamboozled in to trying the Blue Star again for take out Nothing has changed. The food is mediocre at the very best Usually very greasy and often cold Again they messed up the order. Ordered no onions and gravy on the side for Philly Steak Sandwich When I got it home, it was loaded with onions and there was no gravy despite the one owner assuring me there was Called back. The main response I got from the owner (the big guy) was "Oh S#@t" Will never be back.

Missing ingredients and no attempt to make it right

Take out hot turkey dinner came WITHOUT stuffing or gravy and was 90% brown meat. Called to tell them and Brian said he has to believe his staff who 'saw' dressing' in there and gravy......I asked if he was then suggested I was lying and he said.....no, it's not that but I have to stick by my staff. I offered to drive back there (15 minutes away) and he said it was no use, he was sticking by his staff and he hung up. All I wanted was gravy and stuffing as per what the menu says it domes with.Poor customer service and obviously staff who are dishonest.

Absolutely Terrible!!!

The service was terrible by the grumpiest server ever! The food was cold and all 4 meals were terrible. They served a Philly Steak Cheese sandwich on a hot dog bun.....oh, and no cheese!!! Hot hamburger sandwich was a frozen dried out burger. The side salad had 1 tomato and little else. People around us were complaining too. OK, it was Thanksgiving........but when you order a turkey dinner and they didn't serve cranberry sauce, they should have told you they ran out of it when you ordered. It used to be a great place to go to for good home cooked meals, but not any more. We were all extremely disappointed.......but the dog will be happy!!!

Not so good

We ordered takeout for a family who recently lost a family member. The staff member who took my phone call was abrupt and rude. Passed the phone to the owner to take my payment, the delivery was supposed to go out at a certain time, when it did, the delivery driver demanded payment from the family! Was told by the owner to bring back the food if no payment. Let me also say, when I paid it was the owner who took in my credit card!! Thank goodness I got a hold of the delivery driver to reiterate it was paid for in full! Not the kind of experience I wanted for the family that was mourning a loss.

Service was not too speedy initially. That’s why I didn’t give 5 stars. We waited about 20 minutes to place our order. Otherwise, service improved and food was great.

Pleasantly Surprised!

We have not been to the Blue Star since before the pandemic (true for a lot of places we used to go to more regularly). We were braced for the experience we've had with other restaurants as we've resumed eating out--namely, significantly higher menu prices (in some cases upwards of 50% higher!), smaller portions, etc. We were pleasantly surprised in SO many ways!!!! First, the menu prices were only very slightly higher than they were pre-pandemic. The portions were every bit as generous as we recall them being. The food was terrific, the service superb---a truly outstanding experience!!

This place used to be a diamond in the roof but the food quantity and quality is slipping as well as the prices really going up. It used to be a great go to Family Restaurant and now it's not one to consider anymore sadly
